AVG Driver Updater

Since installing AVG Driver Update my PC has become very unstable, doing auto-restarts without warning and requiring active desktop restore after each restart.  I note that the installation of Driver Updater removed my existing Anti Virus Free version forcing me to install the current latest version, and this appears to be incompatible with Windows XP SP3.

Can you confirm that installing driver updater does remove the existing version of AVG Protection free and, if so, why this is done?

I note that since downloading the AVG Driver Update the add/remove software facility does not populate and therefore I cannot remove the AVG software in that way.  I have downloaded the AVG Remover Tool but it does not find the Driver Update product so it cannot remove it.

I note that the vprot.exe process is running just before the computer enters the automatic shutdown mode.  Can you confirm that this is an AVG process and advise whether it should be removed and how to do so.

Currently the result of installing the driver updater product is that my windows xp SP3 is very unstable, so my confidence in AVG products is very low indeed.

I feel badly let down by my purchase of AVG Driver Updater.

Nicholas,
Thank you for contacing us with your concerns. We would like to inform you that Active desktop restore issue is not an AVG issue and please contact Microsoft to resolve the issue. Also did you notice if you see any error message or is it when you do any particular task your computer reboots.
