Hi, I am just posting here to say that I have EXACTLY the same problem: i.e the new upgraded version of AVG Free on Windows XP Service Pack 3 will continue to say "You are not protected", no matter what I do. Keen to hear of a fix.
This is also a problem for me. Searching the internet I see SEVERAL people with the same problem, and your tech support acts as if they don't know about it - telling everyone to perform the same steps that don't work. Are you ever going to get a fix for this? I've had AVG for years now, but this is a deal breaker - if you cannot get it fixed then I will have to find something else.
