Cannot Restore Quarantined File

AVG removed a file from my computer but when attempting to restore it from quarantine, the button doesn't do anything. I've repaired AVG without any luck. I've google searched this problem but nobody seems to know why the button works. PLEASE ADVISE. The removed file is preventing re-installation of the program.

AVG this is a MAJOR problem. I am having the same issue. Your program false flagged some files and not only can I not restore them, your UI doesn't allow me to see the complete file path.

I'm having the same problem! AVG wrongfully placed a file of mine in quarantine, and now when I click "restore" or "extract" it just...unselects the file so I can't save it. What do I do?? Is my file lost forever? Here is a screenshot that hopefully came out right:

I ran into the same problem this morning.  5 files were quarantined and I was unable to see the full path of the files, or perform any actions on said files, as the quaratine section is broken and deselects any files you select.  It also fails to perform any action you select on the files, such as Restore, during the brief moment they appear selected.

Running AVG Free on Windows 7 Pro (x64) - AVG upgrade from previous version
AVG build: 1.171.3.211
AVG Anti-virus Free version: 17.3.3443.0
AVG Framework version: 1.182.2.64574
AVG Setup version: 1.182.2.64574


The quarantined files are now stored in the following directory:

C:\ProgramData\Avg\Antivirus\chest

Note that ProgramData is a hidden, system folder so you will need to type it in the Windows Explorer path bar if you do not have 'show hidden files' selected in Windows 'folder and search options'.

The index.xml file will allow you to see the full paths and filenames of all the quarantined files, which are stored in the same folder.  Unfortunately you will be unable to restore the files manually as they have been encrypted by AVG, rendering them unreadable.  As such you will need to wait for the AVG developers to fix and update the Quarantine section before you can recover any files, unless you have a backup system which you can recover them from.

So I have a temporary fix that should work as long as you have a backup of your files, apps, etc.

1) In AVG go to Menu > Settings > Exceptions > File Paths > then enter the directory of the files that are being flagged.
2) Restore files/appss to the directory you just excluded from being scanned

NOTE: I also changed the "Enable CyberCapture" option to "Allow me to decide" in hopes it doesn't automatically block my files again. 

AVG did not flag anything after the fact but of course this is a temp fix.

I have the same problem. Seems like they haven't given any solution. AVG lists my python application and now I can't restore it from qurantine. I check the box but it unchecks itself. So fustrating... If no fix comes no choice but to restore manually and abandon AVG.

This is a major flaw. I can't even see the restore button and now I am unable to work on critical files. OK it is a free app but surely there must be some developers working on this major flaw. Hprefully something will happen very soon???????

In fact there are 2 problems: 1) False-positive messages about a file I have used for many years without any problem. And 2) the inability to deal with it in the AVG Quarantaine box. How can I send the relevant file to AVG?

I'm having the same problem with automatic un-checking of the file I need to restore.  I wanted to make sure the AVG support folks know about this problem.

I have the same problem. Just tried to call in to the commercial support since I also have large number of commercial licenses and support basically said I was out of luck.

Is there any way to escalate this?
As a developer myself I do not see how this can take a month when they know it is generating false positives AND removing the files in a way that the user can not recover.
