502 concurrent connection limit in AVG exceeded(pass:0, processes:nbpro.exe[50])

I get a error in Newbin pro.
502 concurrent connection limit in AVG exceeded(pass:0, processes:nbpro.exe[50])
is this a setting in email? or email.ini? to remove the limit of 50 connections?

Hello Dave,
We regret to hear about the inconvenience caused, could you please share us a screenshot of the AVG interface from where you are facing issues, so that we can check and help you. Please click on the link to show how to create a screenshot : http://avgread.me/1aZxsAV
Also, please tell us the version of AVG you are using in your computer. Thank you.

Can we get a solution to this? The problem is not related to the AVG interface, which is probably why the OP hasn't provided a screenshot. The problem is that AVG is limiting the number of connections to the computer to 50. This is no good, as premium usenet providers sell usenet access with multiple connections, for example I have 50 connections for one provider, 40 for another and 20 for another. I can confirm that this is not limited to Newsbin, as the problem for me is with NewsLeecher, which returns the exact same error( 502 concurrent connection limit in AVG exceeded(pass:0, processes:NewsLeecher.exe[50]) ), so I would assume it is affecting all usenet clients. I have been using both AVG and NewsLeecher for several years, and this problem has only started happening recently, so it is something new in AVG. There needs to be a way to either extend the concurrent connections limit or add specific programs so their connections aren't included.

Hello Alan,

I can understand how difficult this is for you. The maximum amount of connections can be changed in the C:\ProgramData\Avg\Antivirus\EmailShield.ini file. Just add the information below to the file and save it:
[EmailScanner]
MaxConnections=100

It may be necessary to disable the AVG Self Protection first before changing any value. To disable "AVG Self Protection" follow the below steps:

Open AVG Internet Security/AntiVirus free->Menu->Settings->Troubleshooting->Uncheck "Enable AVG Self Protection".

If you face any difficulties, feel free to contact us.

Thanks, that seems to have worked, although this setting really should be in the interface options somewhere, as nobody would have had any idea how to do this.
Also, even with AVG Self Protection disabled, the file could not be modified - "Access denied" when trying to save from Notepad. I had to search to find out how to restart Windows 10 in safe mode before I was able to save the file.

Hello Alan, Please apologize for the delay in reply. It is not necessary for rebooting your computer in safe mode. You can create a copy of the configuration file to e.g., desktop then modify and save it > disable Self Protection > move configuration file from the desktop to the original folder. Please try these steps and contact us if you face any issues.

Thanks, I didn't think of that. I managed to save the file in safe mode anyway, but this also works.

Thank you for providing screenshot Wouter,
May I know if the issue is resolved when AVG protection is disabled? Right click on AVG system tray icon and toggle the On/Off slider to disable AVG protection.
Best regards,
Alok.

When turning off AVG, then Thunderbirdt asking m for each email accont to overwrite how thunderbird identifies this site, so I press: Confirm Security Exception many times but this keeps popping up.

After all of these popups are gone I am able to send the email.
When I turn AVG on again I cannot send emal anymore and now it tells me:

There was an error saving the message to Sent. Retry?
I press OK many times but is not helping so I press cancel and then I get again Thunderbirdt asking m for each email accont to overwrite how thunderbird identifies this site, so I press: Confirm Security Exception many times again untill it stops popping up.

Now I tried again to send email and for now it is working for some reason but I wonder for how long. I will update when it stops working again.

Wouter,
May I know if it is version 17.8 or 17.9 of AVG installed on your PC?
Wouter vnWouter vn
I have 17.8.3036
AvinashAvinash (Avast)
Wouter,
It is the older version of AVG. Please open AVG Internet Security, click on Menu->Settings->Update. Then update the program definitions to update it to latest version and check if the issue is resolved.
