UNABLE TO UNINSTALL AVG ON WINDOWS 7

I've been trying to uninstall AVG from my PC as don't like the ZEN interface.  I've uninstalled it through the normal Windows process, with REVO Uninstaller and the recommended AVG removal tool (twice) but now keep getting messages to turn on the Windows Firewall.  When I go to the Firewall settings I get a screen that says that "These settings are being managed by vendor application AVG Internet Security.  I am therefore unable to turn the Firewall on or off, restore the defaults or any of the other settings.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Regards and TIA

Phil

Well, I'm sorry to say that that didn't work.  I suspect primarily that to use the Clear.exe tool, you need to have aversion of AVG installed, which I don't.  Only a partly uninstalled version.  Therefore, when i boot into the safe mode, there is nothing to select to uninstall.

However, in the hope that I am wrong, I did restart the computer and ran the Remover.exe program for a third time and got the message that it could not find an active AVG product in my system.  I selected the "run anyway" option, which appeared to complete successfuly as it asked for a further re-boot.  This reboot then took me to the safe mode screen when I have to select Windows 7 or AVG to proceed.  I selected Windows & and once again checked the Windows Firewall, but it is still giving me the same message "These settings are being managed by vendor application AVG Internet Security"

Your further help will be appreciated.

Regards

Phil
