Since the Recent Update of AVG this is apparent........
The scan even though scheduled doesn't always run The system mentions scan logs, where are they? Daily update of virus definition is not always carried out daily None of the changes to this product, Internet Security were pre-announced , it was a surprise The whole appearance and availability of information about what AVG has done or is doing seems to have dissapeared. This new look, dumb look, inspires no confidence in its effectivness
Hi David, We apologize for the inconvenience and let us work together to fix the issue. In-order to fix the issue we will suggest you to repair the AVG protection part. My reply : 22/05/2017 12:32 Hi Sarath Ok I did as you suggested and repaired AVG using the method stated by you. I scheduled the scan to be EVERY SUNDAY at 1300. The scan did not run yesterday at 1300 ! Therefore I cannot say you have solved the problem with AVG You also failed to address the following items in my original Question : The system mentions scan logs, where are they? Daily update of virus definition is not always carried out daily None of the changes to this product, Internet Security were pre-announced , it was a surprise The whole appearance and availability of information about what AVG has done or is doing seems to have dissapeared. This new look, dumb look, inspires no confidence in its effectivness I await your NEW ANSWER David
AVG ANSWERS : FIRST ANSWERAlan Binch replied to your question at 4:01 PM on 5/22/2017. David, Your original post isn't missing (https://support.avg.com/answers?id=906b0000000DnA5AAK). AVG Guru SECOND ANSWER :Viveksaravanan (Customer Support) replied to your question at 1:38 PM on 5/22/2017. Hello David, Thank you for providing your feed back. Please use this link http://avgread.me/1KBqgGO to show steps to use your schedule scan. AVG had rocked the same look for years. It was an admirable one simple and intuitive, but had outlived its fashion prime to become a mullet among more modern interfaces. The scan logs feature is not available in AVG 2017 version, our developers are working on it. So the issue will be fixed automatically in the future updates. Thank you
The SECOND ANSWER provides me with a link to the AVG page "How to scan your PC and schedule a scan" the instuctions are clear and are describing the actions already carried out by me (who has sheduled a scan before on AVG) that did not result in a scheduled scan being cariied out. I have sheduled scans before and after the repair to AVG advised by AVG support. None of the scheduled scans have run on the time of scheduling.
I am not confident that the current version of AVG that has been changed for appearance, is fully functional. I quote an ASVG support member " AVG had rocked the same look for years. It was an admirable one simple and intuitive, but had outlived its fashion prime to become a mullet among more modern interfaces. " Apart from the typographic error, I guess "rocked the same " should be " looked the same" , the fact that looks seem to be considered as important as function is worrying. I want an effective antivirus protection not a pretty one.
The existing AVG Internet Security may have had an old look, whatever that is, but it was working as far as the users knew, now I just don't know who to listen to and what I am gettting from AVG. Added to this the only Support contact offered seems to be phone chat. A method that gives the person rceiving "support" no record of what has been said, and relies upon the comprehension and understanding of the voice of a stranger who may have an accent. What is wrong with written email support ? Finally please don't just react and answer the easiest of my points with an FAQ answer, then run off to get on with your life whilst leaving me stuck with the wrong solution to part of the problem, and faced with having to write another of these tiresome posts
Hello David, We apologize for the inconvenience created by this situation. We can understand that you are not satisfied with our new interface. You can also use this link http://www.avg.com/us-en/product-feedback provide more feedback. The issue you are facing is still persists, since there is some traces of 2016 version. 8. After restart, run AVG Remover and remove all other supported products and remnants of AVG (ZEN, Framework,...). 9. Open AVG_Remover.exe (http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe) 10. If the issue persist please let us know, we are here to help you. (3/3) Thank you.
Ok that will take me a while won't it. Today the AVG Internet Security tells me it updated itself 3 Hours ago. Funny that the PC wasn't turned on 3 hours ago. Clever software this, or is it just me ? I don't think so. After I follow the lenghthy instructions you give I hope it works. What will my hourly rate of pay be for fixing your faulty software ?

Hello David, We really appreciate your efforts which you have taken to fix it. Since you had mentioned that AVG is updated when your system is turned off, we would request you to confirm once whether you are mentioning about AVG Scheduled scan, if so please try to reschedule the AVG scan and check whether it resolves the issue. If the issue persist, get back with us we are here to help you. Thank you.
Ok I have followed the 17 step process to remove AVG from my PC using AVG Clear Tool & AVG Remover. I have downloaded and installed AVG Internet Security - Unlimited
I do not wish to be ungrateful but I don't, or shouldn't need help to schedule a scan. I will schedule a weekly scan and will complain when/if it doesn't work.
The update still does not occur daily, the update for the virus definition in case you are confused. I cannot see what good a screenshot of the AVG window saying it has updated 3 hours ago would do to convince you techs that the PC was not turned on at the time suggested. If the issues persist I WILL let you know.
If you could stop the irritating popups for AVG products that would be nice.
Next time you revamp the AVG Internet Security maybe you could warn the paying customers first
Well that didn't work ! I have scheduled a scan to occur EVERY Sunday I.E. WEEKLY Today is Monday. AVG says that the scan ran when Scan results page is viewed. AVG also says NO scan has run for 4 days. This is not helpful, AVG is not peforming the tasks I bought it for, even after following your long and tedious help suggestions, AVG is not working. I notice from the "Community" pages that I am not alone, this version of AVG is not OK.
Please offer real help, maybe roll back to the last working version, then reissue this WHEN IT WORKS
Or maybe I need to get a REFUND, this is not fit for purpose.
if the image tool at the top of this message window worked I would send you pictures. The screenshot instructions you sent don't work. Does anything at AVG work ?
We apologize for the delay in response. We need to analyze the log files of AVG in resolving the issue. We have sent the email instructions on how to collect and send the log files to us. Please check for the email on spam and junk folders if it is not present in the inbox.
Personally David I run a scan every saturday and forgoe the schedualed ones since 2016 the AVG Schedualed Scan hasnt worked and they dont have any clue as to why... It's why I have never paid for any of their services, not that I wouldn't like to have the total package for an Antivirus software but AVG Customer reps aren't what id call professional. If you ask me I would make sure to Start the scans manualy and force the updates since AVG cant be arsed to do it themselves and fix this little engine that can't do its JOB...
We apologize for the inconvenience and let us work together to fix the issue. In-order to fix the issue we will suggest you to repair the AVG protection part. To repair the AVG please follow the below steps.
Start->Control panel->Programs->select AVG Protection->Click on change and then repair it.
