AVG Icon in Task Bar

Sine Tuesday 5/23/2017, all of a sudden the AVG icon does not appear in my task bar and teh message I get from Microsoft is that avguix.exe*32 is not compatable with Windows.  Also, I can no longer raise the AVG user interface unless I click on an AVG shortcut on the desktop and have it scan avguix.exe*32 where upon it tells me that everything is just great.  It will not open the user interface no matter what else I click (such as "open") I did a complete reinstall of AVG Free but it did not resolve the issue.  Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, from your recent message, it was not clear to us how we can help you. Could you please specify your request and provide us with more details?  Also, please share a screenshot ( http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot ) of the compatibility error you are receiving to assist you further.

Mark, For your info, just in case that you are unaware, you can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

OK, I'm trying to determine why the AVG icon does not appear in my Task bar with the other icons.  When I click on the "Show Hidden Icons" button in the Task Bar, "AVG User Interface" is listed, but without an icon.

We haven't received the screenshot from your end. Please confirm whether you are able to open AVG Free Antivirus via hidden icons. If so, please open AVG Program and then right click on AVG icon in the Taskbar and select 'Pin to Taskbar' to create a AVG icon in Taskbar.

FYI, clicking on the icon on my desk top does nothing.  Nothing opens.

Hello Mark,
Thank you for providing us with the screenshot. Upon checking the image, we see that you have 2 AVG icons in your desktop. It might have conflicted with the old versions of AVG program installed in your computer. We request you to uninstall the traces and installed the updated version of AVG Free Antivirus.
Please click on the below link to run AVG remover tool : http://files-download.avg.com/util/tools/AVG_Remover.exe to completely uninstall your AVG program from your PC. Please do not restart your computer.

Download and run AVG Clear tool: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe . This tool will help with removing antivirus component of AVG 2017 and its traces.
Open tool
User Account control - click "Yes"
Windows safe mode - click "No" (we cannot recommend use the tool in safe mode, because there is a problem with compability)
Choose installed version (AVG Free, AVG Internet Security)
Click "Uninstall" and restart your PC.

Once the AVG Remover Tool has done with its process. Please go to the C drive and look for a folder named as "AVG Remover" and I request you to delete it manually.   Please click the following link to install the latest version of AVG Free Antivirus http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/Antivirus_Free_1817.exe
