Why MeWhy Me

Scan History, Log Files, Where?

I have AVG AntiVirus Free version 17, Win7 SP1.  How do I view the log files?  I'd like to review Scan History and see when updates have been applied.

I couldn't find anything relevant in Event Viewer.

Hello,
Sorry for the inconvenience. If you have installed the new AVG Interface you have to generate the scan report and check the results.
To generate a scan report please follow the below steps,(for example: Deep virus scan is considered.)
- Open AVG
- Open Scan setting (symbol of gear, bottom of the window)
- Open Deep Virus Scan setting (symbol of gear, Deep Virus Scan tile)
- Click on "Report file"
- Check "Generate report", fill "Filename" (e.g. AVGScanReport), and check all reported items (Infected items, Hard errors, Soft errors, OK Items, Skipped items)
- Click on "OK" and "OK"

To view the scan report, please follow the path " C:ProgramDataAvgAntivirus report".
Please do contact us if you face any difficulties, we will assist you better.
Thank you.

Per the instructions above (given by Bhuvaneswari Vairavan, of AVG Technologies), relative to the AVG Free 2017 version, the described procedure does not work while a scan in in progress. (For example, if a person wants to view the scan log report of a different scan while another scan is currently running.) The gear icon does not appear at the lower right while a scan is running (in progress). Instead, I clicked the "menu" icon at the top right and selected "settings," but then I did not see any way to access the particular scan type for which I wish to view the log file (scan report). Is there a way to access the type of info (referred to above in the technician's answer) while a scan is currently running?

Maps,
I would like to inform you that displaying reports has changed with the new interface of latest version. You must first enable "Generate report" on which AVG component you would like to see the reports for. Then you can view the scan report in this location: "C:ProgramData\Avg\Antivirus\report".
To generate a scan report please follow the below steps,(for example: Deep virus scan is considered.)
- Open AVG
- Open Scan setting (symbol of gear, bottom of the window)
- Open Deep Virus Scan setting (symbol of gear, Deep Virus Scan tile)
- Click on "Report file"
- Check "Generate report", fill "Filename" (e.g. AVGScanReport), and check all reported items (Infected items, Hard errors, Soft errors, OK Items, Skipped items)
- Click on "OK" and "OK"
It is possible that C:\Program data folder is hidden. To un-hide it, please refer the steps mentioned here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14201/windows-show-hidden-files .
