UI load issue

Well, last day or so I've been getting an error that AVG's UI won't load ('The UI is having a bad day'. Hilarious... Crappy jokes about it not functioning are just what I want to hear when I need to access the UI and can't). Multiple restarts have not helped. Kinda need to add an exception for a known safe product (AVG is known to require an exception), and not liking that my anti-virus is not functional enough for me to do so. Any solutions that are quicker than finding a new anti-virus provider?

Running on 64-bit 8.1

My apologies if I seem a bit grumpy, I need to have access to the previously mentioned program, and this is not acceptable. It's currently functioning as malware.

Hello Adam,
I am sorry to hear about the inconvenience caused. I would suggest you to run repair installation of AVG to fix the UI issue. To repair your AVG please follow these instructions:
Go to Start -> Control Panel.
Note: Click Settings first if Control Panel is not available in the Start menu.
Open (Programs) -> Programs and Features, or Add or Remove Programs.
Select AVG Protection in the list of programs.
Click the Change or Change/Remove button.
Select Repair.
Follow the instructions on your screen to complete the installation.
Restart your computer.
