File Properties

Using Windows 10,
Apparently AVG has changed the properties of all my files in my "This PC/Documents"  directory to read only and I am not able to remove that property from my Documents directory.  I cannot edit any files residing there.  How do I fix this?

Hello Clark,

I apologize for the inconvenience. Please open AVG ▸ Menu ▸ Ransomware Protection ▸ under "Adjust Ransomware and Protection activity" enable the "Smart Mode ". This feature refers to a list of commonly used and trusted applications to determine which programs can modify files in your protected folders. If any applications which are not in this list attempt to modify files in your protected folders, you are notified and asked for permission.

If you face any difficulties, please contact us.

This has also happened to me, I'm no longer able to update my excel spreadsheets and save them. I've enabled and disabled Ransomware protection and it still is the case.  I am not able to remove the "read only" on my documents.  Even when changing to Smart Mode it does not ask me for permission to update the document, it will only allow me to save it under a different name and when I do the document comes up blank.  This is on Window 7 Windows Excel Starter.  Please help, thanks
