Have just installed new version of Lenovo Solution Centre, a well known manufactures diagnostic centre. On installing AVG found a IDP Generic virus & put into quarantine store BUT Was this a false positive? What is an IPD Generic? Hope you can advise
I apologize for the inconvenience. I would request you to update the AVG program and then scan your computer. If you still face the same issue, please provide the screenshot http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-create-a-screenshot of the threat detection message to check and proceed further.
I have now completed 2 scans using differant AVG screens Pleased to report that end results were:- 1 Message your Browser is secure, no threats found 2 No threats So assume all is OK? But what was/is IDP Generic?
Thank you for letting us know the status. IDP generic means that the detection was detected by a Identity Protection detection component and it is a generalized file that got detected. This can either be a false positive as well which happened due to an out dated definitions and got fixed after updating AVG.
Well I Was Also Facing this issue, But later on i realised that this is just a Flase Positive Error. However if you are facing a serious issue on idp.generic (https://www.rootupdate.com/2019/06/what-idp-generic-avast.html) then you can Simply Report it to AVG.
We would like to get more information regarding the threat detection. Could you create your own post on this community, so that we can collect the necessary information? Are you using the free or paid version of AVG Antivirus?
There are many doubts in the minds of the people regarding this. Here's something I found from one of the article on the internet.
"IDP Generic virus is the detection that is detected by an Identity Protection detection component of the antivirus and it is a generalized file that gets detected. The files in one’s system will be flagged by this whenever the file does something identical to malware that triggers the flag."
I was also facing the same problem as I was also not sure if the Idp.generic warning was just a false positive or a serious threat. So I decided to learn about it and found the solution here: idp.generic (https://techinfogeek.com/idp-generic/) I hope this will solve your problem as well because it did solve my issues clearly.
