Hi I am currently being blocked from a site I regularly use. I get a popup of avg saying the site is infected with URL:MAL. What is this? Is this actual threat or false flag?
Thank you for providing the screenshot. Your post is appearing and we can see that. If you think AVG wrongly detected a URL or Tracking as harmful, please submit it to us for analysis using this form https://www.avg.com/submit-sample. In the mean while, please add the URL to AVG Exception list https://help.avg.com/en/avg_free/17/settings_general.html (AVG ▸ Menu ▸ Settings ▸ General ▸ Exclude files or websites from scanning) and then browse the website.
Will, I certainly understand your concern about the website detection. Please check the URL in our AVG threat lab if you are not sure if the website's safe [www.avgthreatlabs.com/en-us/website-safety-reports/]. If the URL is safe, then please submit the website URL for us to analyze by following the previous post. Our team will check the website URL and contact you via email soon.
Will, I would request you to submit the URL (role-player.net) for us to an analysis by clicking this link https://www.avg.com/submit-sample. Our developer's team will analyze the file and get back to you via email.
Hello, we want to communicate the this panel doesn't give a correct feedback after inserting an analysis request (https://www.avg.com/submit-sample). Can you answer us, please ? Thanks. We have used all the browsers. Thanks

I understand your concern. Please let me know the exact file you are trying to submit for analysis and also let me know the error message you receive when you try to submit the file.
I understand your concern. I will send you an email, please reply to that email with the necessary information on this submit sample. I also see that you have submitted four instances of sample to AVG for analysis.
I get the same screen blocking my access to this site: http://perkinsrestoration.com/ but there is no virus. I can access this site with no problems when AVG is disabled. False positive. Please fix. I have latest virus definitions.
I understand this website is detected as threat by AVG. Please submit the URL to AVG https://www.avg.com/submit-sample for analysis, if found genuine it will be added to global exception list.
Just to report that I am now experiencing this same problem - same AVG alert message as per the image that Will Jessop posted, except mine says...........
"AVG aborted connection on x.refban.com because it was infected with URL:Mal" then scan computer, but then it keeps re-occurring. So I was looking for answers to what has caused this, and was directed to this support page. Did you find a cause or solution back in December? Did anyone try this page link that was suggested in the last post ?......... https://althow.com/what-is-url-mal-how-to-remove-url-mal-virus/ Feel a bit reluctant to try anything like that until have more info.
@ Carole Ashworth Carole, If applicable.. For your info, just in case that you are unaware, you can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions. AVG Guru
Many thanks for your replies Ranjani and Alan. My AVG always usually kept up to date, I check it every day that I go on any device. Yes, wish I'd taken a screenshot now. If it happens again I'll definitely do so and post it as you suggested. I've been back to do some more online browsing this aft, since that happened earlier, and no re-occurrence so far.
Just for info - might not be connected but - I've recently been trying out Microsoft Edge which seems quite a good browser now. But this morning I'd "switched" over temporarily a few times, for a few seconds only each time, to "Internet Explorer" for putting shortcuts on desktop (as can't seem to do that in Edge). Now wondering if it was those Internet Explorer short switch-overs that might have caused some problem?? Only a wild speculation, but thought would mention.
Will AVG stop this false reporting once and for all! I use avg on my personal computer and it's now misready Zimbra email - even if it's on a local network - NOT a public one - I know that we can apply to have it whitelisted, but the only reason I can see is that it's a self signed certificate - and has NEVER ever shown up prior to today. The only reason I can see is that avg has created a bad signature that has caused this to occur.
I would be very interested in finding out if your issue has been resolved. I am also receiving this exact threat detection aborted box from AVG as the other posters above have submitted, and I am only receiving it when I access Zimbra email. AVG is telling me by phone that I have to pay extra to have them delete various things from my computer and do driver updates to ensure that I don't have a trojan coming in to my computer that AVG premium is unable to find even after I have scanned my computer numerous times.
I'm having trouble getting attachments from my webmail program. Sometimes it works and other times it boots me out completely. I turned off AVG and got the file - and sent it to others to check on their av. No virus found. The URL is just a randomized URL for that attachment.
It's AVG version 18.5.3059. It has the most up to date definitions. I recently re installed it.
It seems you are facing issues with downloading the attachments from web mail (chrome browser) . Are you able to download these attachments via email client?
I have AVG on my laptop and the same message happens on www.hyas.com as they are a cyber security company they will not thank you AVG if its a false postive..

Sorry, this might be a false positive. We request you to update your AVG Antivirus/ Internet security and check if it helps.
If the issue persists, collect screenshot https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=How-to-create-a-screenshot&supportType=home of it and provide us the version and name of AVG you have installed, full path of detection by clicking on "See Details" at the bottom right corner of that popup to check and assist you further.
