AVG antivirus for Pentium 3

I have a problem installing AVG Free antivirus on my old Pentium III PC. When that PC download a program, it can often not run the program, it just crashes. But programs usually works if they were downloaded to a more modern PC first, and then moved to the elder PC.

My problem is that when I download AVG, I just download a 3 MB installer. Running the installer on the old PC doesn't work. Somehow I have to download the full program and move it to the old PC, but here comes a new problem: The new PC do not save the full program anywhere when I run the installer, I get straight to the installing process. Installing on the new PC does not help the old PC at all.

Tl,dr: How do I get the full setup executable to the old PC, without downloading it from the same PC?

Thanks.

Hello K S,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
May I know the operating system installed on the Pentium III PC?
Could you please provide the exact error code that you received for the AVG free antivirus installation?
Also to download the full setup file of AVG free antivirus please use the below links:
For 32 bit: http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/AVG_Antivirus_Free_x86_694.exe
For 64 bit: http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/AVG_Antivirus_Free_x64_693.exe

To determine whether a computer is running a 32-bit version or 64-bit version of the Windows operating system please use the below link:

Thank you for the reply.

The Pentium III computer runs XP Professional SP3.
I downloaded the 32-bit full setup and moved it to the old PC. But also the full setup crashed.
Both the 3 MB installer and the 225 MB full setup failed with this error code:
0xc007001d

Is AVG requiring SSE2? The Pentium III does not support SSE2, I need a solution that does not require it.

The old laptop has a Pentium III, 850 MHz CPU, and 512 MB RAM.

NIS 2014 was the latest from Symantec that worked on the Pentium III, starting with NIS 2015, SSE2 was required. But I have moved the NIS license to the newer PC.

I am unhappy with Symantec's business practices and I would not pay for any of their products no matter how good they were, but I get one NIS license for free and I do (hesitatingly) use it.

I hoped AVG would work, but the error codes means my CPU is unsupported?

Thanks again.

You are welcome.
Thank you for providing the error code 0xC007001D.
Yes you are right your processor should have SSE2.
Problem is that AVG program does not support processors without SSE2.
There is no solution for this as you are using an unsupported CPU.
We request you to upgrade your processor and Windows operating system inorder to install AVG free antivirus program.
Thank you.
