Schedules Scans - Scheduled Time Completely Ignored
(I have searched for this issue to no avail. If this is covered already, I apologize. Please just point me to the original post of this issue?)
I have AVG Free 2015 (1.52.1.51616):
I have a Scheduled Scan defined for Saturday nights at 9:30pm:
But, the dang thing always runs at 8:00am Sunday, no matter:
I want to start this schedule at night so it's done by morning - I'm sick of the scanning action dogging my computer while I'm trying to do other things.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused. At the time of the schedule for scanning do you use your computer or just leave it idle? If you are using the computer at the time of scheduled scan it would delay the scanning progress. Also we request you to completely remove the AVG free 2015 version and install our latest 2016 version. 1) To download the AVG remover tool please click on this link: http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe 2) Run the downloaded tool and follow the instructions displayed on your screen.
3) Your computer will be restarted automatically. After the restart, AVG Remover will finish the uninstallation. NOTE: Once the AVG Remover Tool has done with its process. Please go to the C drive and look for a folder named as "AVG Remover" and I request you to delete it manually.
First, the computer is on when I come to it in the morning at 7:00 - I have a wake-up script that runs earlier in the morning so that my Acronis True Image backup starts & completes before I get my PC in the morning. That is another dog to my system if it starts when I would "wake" my PC in the morning.
Second, I was out last night when the shown scheduled scan was supposed to run. And, I don't buy that it would not have run while I was using the PC --- that is exactly what it's doing when I'm sitting here using it and when I penned this thread. That process started at 7:59am and I could tell when things started "stuttering" in behavior.
Lastly, I am not uninstalling and re-installing this software. Yeah, I know it may clear something out of the registry that is stuck, but I'm not doing it. If that is the best we can come up with - versus, perhaps, a path to the Registry where this value may be locked up and incorrect - I'll just punt.
You are welcome. At the time of scheduled scan will you be having your PC turned on or will it be in sleep mode? We always recommend our customer to have our latest versions of program. That is the reason we provided the instructions to install it. You won't be facing any issues while doing the reinstallation so we request you to go ahead in installing the 2016 version.
