Malware Problems and Scans Not Completing

Hi There,

To give the whole story- I was seeing persistant pop ups despite adblock so decided there must be a problem somewhere. I found I had accidentally installed something (or allowed something else to install it) and went about uninstalling anything that looked fishy. After a while the pop ups returned so I decided to upgrade from free and buy AVG in the hopes that it would find and fix the problem - but it returned again. So I installed Malwarebytes (Free) which found over 1000 instances of malware and PUPs. I was really surprised to say the least but glad I'd found it rather than not. Unfortunately the problem came back and, while I'm not currently seeing pop ups, I'm still finding malware with Malwarebytes and AVG found a few things it didn't like too. On top of that, now neither AVG nor Malwarebytes will let me complete a scan to get rid of the problems they have found.

I'm not sure why the scans wont work, how these malware programs keeps appearing, or if the two problems are connected. Any help on how to stop it all for good would be really appreciated.

Thank you
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Hello Adam,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
We do understand your concern.
These are caused by some malware programs getting installed on your PC without your knowledge while installing some other programs. AVG programs are capable of detecting and removing the malware programs, however there are numerous number of malware programs emerging day by day and we are working 24/7 to add all those definitions to our database. We request you to start uninstalling all unknown, unnecessary programs from your computer, make sure you dont uninstall the windows programs. Also remove all the weird, unwanted add-ons, plugins, extensions, tool bars and search bars from your web browsers, if the issue persists, reset your browsers once. This should fix your issue.

There is a chance of this issue coming back again if of you visit some untrusted websites or downloading any program from any untrusted websites.
Do you mean that when you start the scan of AVG protection it doesn't get completed?
If yes, does it gives out any error message?

Ok thanks for the advice regarding malware.

Yes, when I start a full scan it stops at 60% and becomes unresponsive. No error message.
