SlimCleaner Plus

Is anyone familiar with SlimCleaner Plus? I accidentally downloaded it while trying to get Google Chrome on my computer. I have read about it and it sounds nasty, but I don't know what sites to trust about removing it. Thanks!

Michelle, SlimCleaner Free as previously been mentioned on the Community (https://support.avg.com/answers?id=906b0000000D3wGAAS).

I went to your link, and it just seems to show one person recommending that someone load this program. This person is a Newbie, and I wonder if he is trustworthy. He doesn't describe the program, and there are comments online about this program being a virus.

Also when I go to remove this program through the Uninstall Programs option, it gives me a message that says: "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support person for assistance." However, I can still remove other programs just fine without this message. This is also suspicious to me.

Michelle, I use SlimCleaner Free because some consider it the best free tune-up utility:

The good news: SlimCleaner Plus is not a virus (which explains why AVG hasn't removed it). The bad news: It isn't free. If you run it, it will tell you how many problems it found on your PC, then advise you of its cost (I think it's $29.95). Sorry to hear you are having trouble uninstalling it. What version of Windows are you running? I'll look for uninstall instructions.

According to Slimware Utilities, makers of SlimCleaner, the key is to right-click the tray icon and select "Shut Down" or "Exit" before  trying to uninstall via Control Panel, because the program is probably running in the background. (In my case it is not, because I chose not to make SlimCleaner Free a Startup program when I installed it.) Let us know if that works.

i had the same problem. the nasty malware could not be uninstalled from control panel. you can use Spyhunter (http://removevirusnow.com/recommends/download-spyhunter)to handle it.

I had this problem today. Solution above from Marvin Martianul on December 28,2014 worked perfectly for me.
