My whitelist account status

Hi,

I have a whitelist account for many years to upload files to FTP server at whitelist.avg.com, but this FTP is not working anymore. What should I do? My username for FTP is wealthmultiply.com

Hi, Alex,

I've seen your posts, where you wrote that "ftp://whitelist.avg.com is not responding" and "ftp://whitelisting.avg.com does not even have a DNS entry"...

We've also been participating in the AVG Whitelisting Program with our own credentials for years, but now ftp://whitelist.avg.com:21 has just stopped accepting connections. However, no one of the representatives here do in fact want to actually hear the problem. They keep referencing us to the https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=AVG-FTP-file-upload&supportType=home page with even misspelled FTP address (have ftp://whitelisting.avg.com:21 ever worked?). Also, they offer us a remote assistance... "A skilled AVG technician can remotely connect to your computer via a secure connection and fix the issue quickly and effectively" they say, but the thing is that we are a software publisher, and our "computer" is a server, so we’re certainly not going to let someone to connect to it remotely.

Alex, have you managed to find a way to connect to the AVG Whitelisting Service FTP after all?

Regards,
Bharath RogerBharath Roger (AVG)
Hi Serhii,

We will certainly look into this and help you.
May I know what happens when you upload FTP?
If you received any error provide the screenshot of the same to assist further.
Serhii O. TkachenkoSerhii O. Tkachenko
Hi, Bharath,

We've been always using our own FTP software to connect to your FTP. Thought now, just to make double-sure that this isn't by chance our own issue, we also tried to connect to both FTP servers using FileZilla, and it returned the same errors as our software does as well:

 > Status:    Resolving address of whitelisting.avg.com
 > Status:    Connection attempt failed with "EAI_NONAME - Neither nodename nor servname provided, or not known"

 > Status:    Resolving address of whitelist.avg.com
 > Status:    Connecting to 69.94.64.46:21...
 > Status:    Connection attempt failed with "ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server"

If you like, share your contact info with me here (email address removed)
Thank you.

Thank you for the screenshot, Serhii.
Please do not share your email address on a public forum.
We do realize that using your own FTP server you try to connect to our whitelist.avg.com FTP.
We actually awaited for the screenshot of the error that you get.
Let me check this with our senior team and get back to you.
Your patience is much appreciated.
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Alex, with the help of 'Serhii', we are able to realize the situation with FTP.
We will check this with our senior team and update the status as soon as possible.
Thank you.

Dear AVG representatives,

Your Whitelisting Service FTP keeps refusing connections, and we'd really like to know: where can we batch-upload our files to and how? Once again, this is very important to us as a consumer software publisher, so we would appreciate hearing from you promptly.

Hi, AVG,

Looks like I have to repeat myself, but do you think such a silence (or rather ignoring) from your side is acceptable for an AV Company of your level? Please answer our questions.

Serhii O. TkachenkoSerhii O. Tkachenko
Okay, AVG, it's a new year already - would you be so kind after all to provide us with some new information regarding this matter?? When will the problem be finally addressed??
Shawn EnglemanShawn Engleman (Avast)
Hello Alex and Serhii. Thank you for your time to communicate your concerns, and I apologize for the delayed response. My name is Shawn, and I am writing to you on behalf of the AVG senior support team. I will help you.

First and foremost, whitelist.avg.com, is not supported. For uploading files you need to use: whitelisting.avg.com.

If the issue you are experiencing persists, it may be necessary that you re-register your account. Registration details and information can be referenced at the following AVG Threat Lab - File whitelisting site: https://is.gd/JStVFD.

I trust this information is helpful. Let us know if there is anything else we may help you with. Regards, Shawn

Hi, Shawn,

Sorry for being away. To tell the truth, after everything I've been writing many times to numerous of different AVG representatives over all these months, your reply left me speechless. I've really tired of trying to explain the problem when no one at AVG even bothers to hear the explanations. But OK, let's try one more time, step-by-step (in addition to what you may already read there: https://support.avg.com/answers?id=9060N000000EgT2 (https://support.avg.com/answers?id=9060N000000EgT2" target="_blank)).

First and foremost, whitelisting.avg.com is not resolvable! Is there at least someone among all the AVG representatives who is capable of finally hearing that??

Shawn, may I please ask you to be so kind to look at the following screenshots very closely-and-carefully and then tell me what can you see from those? Do they say anything about whitelisting.avg.com to you? And do some of them say to you something about whitelist.avg.com (which you're stating is not supported)?

Connection attempt failed with "EAI_NONAME - Neither nodename nor servname provided, or not known".

Ping request could not find host whitelisting.avg.com. Please check the name and try again.

Unable to resolve target system name whitelisting.avg.com.

Please give us all the answers to the above very simple questions, for a start.

Regards,
Serhii O. TkachenkoSerhii O. Tkachenko
Unable to resolve hostname.

Hello Serhii. Thank you for taking the time to write back.

My reply was addressed to both Alex, who created this posting, and yours alike. And my reply was intended to be general, not specific, given Alex's addressed concern; although similar to your concern, is in itself a different scenario.

Long story short, based on the information Alex provided, specifically his FTP username, he actually has an established whitelist credential to upload files to our Avast/AVG Threat Lab, to be analyzed and whitelisted. Serhij, your email address, as associated to your AVG community forum, is not associated to any established Avast/AVG Threat Lab credential. And this is likely why you are experiencing an issue trying to upload files by FTP.
Shawn EnglemanShawn Engleman (Avast)
As per the informational whitelisting site I referenced, https://is.gd/JStVFD, it will be necessary that you fill out the Whitelisting Program Registration form: https://is.gd/PuIMSY. In the registration, you may upload any file which is somehow connected with your company (usually the .exe file of application). After the registration process, we will send by email the credentials necessary for login in to our FTP server, which you may then send all files to be whitelisted.

I trust this information helps clarify any confusion. Best Regards, Shawn
Serhii O. TkachenkoSerhii O. Tkachenko
Hi, Shawn,

We've been trying in vain to get our specific (not general) reply from AVG since past year's November, but the problem is that no one at AVG seems to want to understand the complaint to address it. You're just not listening and not even trying to, as if you don't care and don't want to deal with the issue (namely - a bug).

I personally wrote many times - in this thread (above) and in other threads (including Twitter (https://twitter.com/@NCH_Soft" target="_blank)): we do already have our own established AVG Whitelisting Program credentials - username and password. In other words: we're not trying to register for your Whitelisting Program - we've already been in it for years. Hope, now it is clear.

Here, on AVG Support Community, I have my own, personal AVG MyAccount, utilizing my personal, separate email address, of course. And of course that my Company (specifically - one of the Company's admins, not me) utilizes another email address as our Whitelisting Program username. However, I repeat one more time, the issue is currently not in our credentials - not at all. The issue is in the fact that whitelisting.avg.com IS NOT resolvable (meaning - inaccessible, - at all, - nonexistent, etc.) while whitelist.avg.com IS resolvable, but it refuses connections - before checking or even receiving the credentials. Are there any other words to explain this and make it to be heard? Please answer those simple questions above - do it for yourself - and you should finally understand (hopefully).

Regards,
Serhii O. TkachenkoSerhii O. Tkachenko

Hello Serhii. Thank you for taking the time to write back.

I understand clearly the issue you have gone to great lengths to describe. And I apologize for the frustration you have expressed. What has contributed to the confusion of responses you have received, is that this community forum is specific to AVG home consumer products, and you inquiry is software development witelisting specific.

I only had available the email address that is associated to your AVG Community forum profile, to cross reference checking for issued whitelist credentials. Given your email address didn't produce a match, is why I referenced you do not have credentials. Having scoured through the dialogue, I don't see any reference of your FTP username.

If you may please confirm your FTP username. With this information, I will check the status of your credentials. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks, Shawn

Hi, Shawn,

OK, I've sent you our Whitelisting Service FTP username (on Twitter (https://twitter.com/messages/61781392-1213176940615495680" target="_blank)), but in the mean-time, could you please tell me whether you've finally understood from my screenshot above that the given FTP-server of yours doesn't even prompt for credentials? It's because the credentials could be prompted by a server only after connection with it is established. So, until we are able to connect to your server (until the connection is capable of being established), the status of our credentials doesn't matter, literally.

Regards,
Shawn EnglemanShawn Engleman (Avast)
Hello Serhii. I indeed understand, very clearly, the issue you have expressed.

Simply summarized, it is not possible to connect by FTP to our server, without proper established whitelist credentials. Upon establishing your whitelist credentials, you will be able to access our server via FTP.

Regards, Shawn

Hi, Shawn,

OK, you did acknowledge in one of your messages above that Alex does have his established, proper whitelist credentials, right?

Then, can you please answer a simple question: how does your server ‘know’ that it's me (and not Alex) is attempting to connect? How does your server ‘know’ this before prompting for credentials?
