AVG Web/Mail Shield Root

I use Outlook as my email client, as part of my subscription to Microsoft Office 365.

Recently, I have been receiving a message when starting Outlook saying:

'The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that cannot be verified.

The target name is incorrect.'

I have followed the instructions to view the certificate:

Issued to - imap.hosts.co.uk
Issued by - AVG Web/Mail Shield Root
Valid from - 10/09/2018 to 10/09/2019

and have installed it for all users, but still receive the message, everytime I start the application.

Email comes in when Outlook is first opened, but after that the 'Synchronizing Inbox' indicator at the bottom of the screen is constantly active and emails don't always arrive.

I have tried to export an SSL Scaning certificate from the control panel, but after the latest update of AVG, this option is no longer available.

Please advise.

Hello Nick,

We are sorry to hear this. Let us check which component of AVG is causing the issue.
Open AVG Internet Security program interface, click on "Menu-->Settings-->Components".
Use the slider icon available near "Web Shield" and turn off the component.
Check the status with Outlook and keep us posted.

On the new version of AVG auto installed yesterday, there is NO components menu item, as there was on previous versions of the software, so I cannot do as you suggest!

We're sorry for the inconvenience, Nick. We will be able to enable the settings of older version by : Opening AVG - Menu - Settings - Troubleshooting - Scroll down to find 'Open old settings' - Ok.
Please try the above step & let us know if it helps.

Does not resolve the problem. Perhaps try it yourself because the 'Open old settings' function doesn't exists. But for ease of reference, see this. What now?12

Does not resolve the problem as the function 'Open old settings' does not exist. Please open avg menu settings troubleshooting and see for yourself the options. Then, advise on how to correct the issue.

Hello Charles,

The Interface of AVG Internet Security is updated in the latest version. That is why you are not getting that option.

We request you to write us through separate post. So, we will check the account and help you to resolve it. Thank you.
