About 10 minutes ago, an "AVG Antivirus Free" page popped up on my PC. I've never downloaded this AntiVirus (nor did I know about it) and I dont recall installing anything in the past few days that could be a virus. Any explanation for this? Was it some older virus that decided to install it now?
We're glad to look into this & help you. Please share us the screenshot of the pop up that you receive for better clarity. However, we'd like to clarify that an AVG program will not be installed on your computer without your consent.
I've already unistalled it, as it took a while for my post to pend. It was the main menu of it. I will however attach an image that looked similar off google.
Let us clarify this for you. AVG Antivirus isn't affiliated with CCleaner. Hence, AVG Antivirus will not be installed automatically on your computer. If the issue re-occurs, please write back to us with the screenshot of the exact user interface that gets installed, to further investigate on this.

I've seen a similar situation to mine on Quora and one on Reddit, where somebody installed CCleaner and AVG antivirus came with it. It is possible that my CCleaner updated and I forgot to tick off a box that might have installed AVG antivirus. Here are the links to the posts I've found: https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/gek28l/avg_antivirus/
From your description, we assume that when you updated your older version of CCleaner, the AVG Antivirus Free was installed alongside as a bundle (as the checkbox asking for your consent, might've been overlooked). Let us know if you have further queries.
