Used to use AVG in the 90s ... then tried Avast, McAfee, Symantec and a load of others.
But have not returned to AVG.
Is it true AVG is now owned by Avast? I found Avast anti-virus terrible, but that was years ago now.
What has people's experience been with AVG over the over 3 decades they have existed? I am very interested to hear.
My impression is that almost every time I connect to an AVG product, it tells me I need to add more and more subscriptions. Has that also been people's experience in recent years with the AVG suite of products?
I'm curious...
My name is Jovana and I'm with AVG senior support. Firstly, please forgive me for the delay. This is certainly not the usual response time, and we're doing our best to improve it.
Note that both AVG and Avast have been sister companies in the past for some time, and recently, both companies merged with Norton, making a part of a global company of different brands, known as Gen™ (https://www.gendigital.com/)
Gen™ is a global company with a family of consumer brands including Norton, Avast, LifeLock, Avira, AVG, ReputationDefender, and CCleaner.
As for the people's experience, the satisfaction of our customers has always been one of our top priorities, and we're doing our best to make our products just what our customers want them to be.
Regarding your impressions about the constant offers for paid products, within a program, I have to say they are most likely correct, as I presume you've been a user of our free software.
As for any free software on the market, these kinds of marketing techniques are very common. Still, I appreciate you sharing your experience, and I'll certainly share it with the team, so we can make improvements in the future.
However, please note that having a paid subscription allows our customers to manage which offers and popups they want to see, as it is described in the following article: Managing pop-up notifications in AVG AntiVirus (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlname=AVG-Antivirus-popup-notifications#:~:text=Disable%20pop%2Dup%20notifications,%2Dups%2C%20alerts%20and%20messages.)
I hope this clarifies and helps. Feel free to write back if you need any other help.
Have a great day!
