Do AVGs constant popups and interruptions bother anyone else???
I have to admit, I am ready to uninstall AVG from my machines. The constant interruptions by popup screens telling me that I am looking good on security, or telling me that they will randomize my profile in XX minutes. I really don't CARE about these things.
Another thing that bothers me is that AVG will actually keep me from connecting to my home or office internet, simply to congratulate me on having whatever level of security I have. More than once I have been stymied in trying to connect, and about 10 seconds later, a screen pops up to tell me my machine is secure. When I close that popup, my PC will connect to the internet!!
AVG should do it's job silently, in the background, and not add more annoyance to a world that is already annoying enough. "Neither seen nor heard," should be AVG's motto, and if I need something done, I will go to the AVG menu and get it done. Don't nag me about it!!
Hello Anthony, Thank you for contacting AVG Community Support. We understand that AVG constantly popups and interrupts your activity and also you are not able to connect to home or office network. We're sorry to hear that you're facing this trouble, we regret the inconvenience caused. Most AVG applications display notifications about application activity, product updates, warnings, and alerts. To disable pop-up notifications or stop offers for other products, follow the instructions in this article according to your app: https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlname=avg-antivirus-popup-notifications (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlname=avg-antivirus-popup-notifications)
Also AVG's firewall and Secure VPN can help you manage private and public networks: AVG's firewall monitors network traffic and can automatically identify if a network is private or public. It then applies the appropriate security settings: Private networks: These networks, like your home or work network, are automatically marked as trusted and have a lower security level. This allows all communication within the network. Public networks: These networks, like those in an airport or cafe, are automatically marked as untrusted and have a higher security level. This blocks all incoming communication, this might be reason why your office or home network might have been stopped from connecting automatically. Manually specify a network: You can also manually specify if a network is trusted or untrusted. To do this, you can: Open AVG Antivirus and select the Web & Email tile Click Open above Enhanced Firewall Select the Networks tab Click Show settings next to the network Choose I trust this network for a private network. You can use AVG's Secure VPN to manually define if a network is public or private. To do this, you can: Open AVG Secure VPN and go to ☰ Menu ▸ Settings Select Network Security in the left panel Ensure the box next to Exclude private networks is ticked Click Edit networks Use the slider to define whether your current network is Public or Private Click Close.
