Hi i recently updated to AVG Protection. Is there a way to uninstall Zen? I tried looking for the single product under avg homepage but it leads to CNET. CNET shows AVG Free but when i downloaded its AVG Protection): So im asking if theres a way to uninstall zen without uninstalling the whole program? or a single AVG Free download Thanks!

Ququhang, AVG Zen Remover.. See the Sreedevi (AVG Technologies) post within posting (https://support.avg.com/answers?id=906b00000008ogtAAA). Also this is actually the latest AVG AntiVirus Free install files.. Have a look @ this webpage (http://www.avg.com/ww-en/download.prd-afh-free).

Hi, I'm having a similar problem and I've gone through the links on this and other postings, but can't actually find the answer. I had AVG 2015 Free and I bought PC Tune-Up. Somehow this Zen showed up on my computer; I don't need it as I only have one device and I don't want anything that I need to create an account to use (I'm not putting my email address into it).

I tried to uninstall Zen but it said I had to uninstall AVG 2015 and PC Tune-Up first, so I did uninstall all three, and then I followed your download link here but it installed Zen again! On the Remover page you linked, there is a URL for a remover but it seems to be a broken link. So please:

1. Can I have free antivirus without Zen?
2. How?

Thanks!

Lisa TaylorLisa Taylor
Also, it says on the program once installed, under "Please create your AVG MyAccount":

"This will activate your PRO features..." but I didn't ask for any PRO features, I was very careful not to select any free trial but only the actual free antivirus itself.

Estimated people of AVG Support:

As of today February 1 2016 I have tried every available link including those provided here in the previous posts. It looks that every one of them does install Zen. There is no one option of AVG Free without Zen now. Is that correct?

Thanks for your reply in advance.

Estimated Aravind:

I thank you for your kind answer. I have downloaded and tried the offline installation you provide me here, after running the aforementioned AVG Remover.

However, the offline installation AVG_Antivirus_Free_X64_693.exe still does install the ZEN product with it. That's why I am guessing a change in your policies?

In all regards, thank you for your attentive support and for providing me and my family with so much needed protection for over a decade.

Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Hello Enrique,

You are most welcome.
The offline installer should install only the normal version of AVG free without Zen.
I guess that you would have run the Zen version file from the downloads list of your browser accidentally.
Could you please remove the Zen program again and then make sure that you run only the offline installer and let us know the status?

What a mess this is. Why can't we get this right to begin with. First AVG is telling me I need a licence for the FREE version. The I figured... wipe it all and start over. Two hours later, I now have the ZEN problem which brought me here.  If there's a way to  install avg without zen, then why is that not clearly defined in the first place, rather than have people waste all of this time.

Thanks but you've missed the point. If this works, then where is this process on the front page of the website? Why can't the download be what it is supposed to be?
and why is my free version asking for a liscence in the first place. You offering a solution is fine and  great, but the aggravation is the fact that you know it's aggravating, and it could be easier. Is it AVG's agenda to waste 2hours of peoples time.

Simple questions...
The Free version is now asking for a license. Why? And please dont tell me that maybe I downloaded another version as I've seen much of that. That is not the case

The download for AVG Free just about everywhere, gives you ZEN. Why?

If this download works here, then why not offer it this way in the first place?

Of course, you only partially answered one question as I asked three very specific questions. This is popular among tech support folks that avoid the real questions. When I go to AVG.com, there is nothing that says download center. There's nothing that addesses what's been happening to thousands of people. It says AVG free antivirus, free download. PERIOD. These other links ARE hidden throughout the website, and can be confusing. Which of course seems to be the purpose... At first glance our assumption is that the product will behave as it always has. If you download from the front page of the website, you get ZEN. If you know to hunt and peck for ANOTHER free version, then yes it is there, but you have to know it's there and that AVG is now using trickery and misdirection, and some person called AVG Guru to selectively sprinkle the fix out to the masses. While your fix works, this could have been so much easier from the start. Lose the trickery people.

Hello Four,
Please accept our sincere and unreserved apology for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Please be informed that the AVG Zen is the Interface for the customers those who require to manage their other PC's using their main PC and some of the file in the AVG program might got corrupted and that's the reason you have been asked for the license number, Once reinstalled the program with the remover tool the broken files will get replaced and you will be good to go.

Jim, you can install AVG without the Zen interface. I have followed the instructions listed in the above posts and deleted the AVG Zen with the remover link, and reinstalled protection with the 64 bit link given. I now have AVG with NO Zen interface. Thanks AVG, been using you since 2000.

The zen feature is an annoyance and should NOT be forced on you (without having to find a special download which does NOT include it).  MOST people do NOT want it.  At the very least, if the programmers/designers had any sense, they would have a check-box option early on like they do with Email scanner, Web, etc. so 99% of us can NOT check that box.

If it ain't broke, don’t fix it guys.  Just because it’s a new feature does not mean we want it. Keep making avoiding ZEN difficult (or at least an obstacle course of googling) then you will lose us to something else, perhaps  Avast.

I've been an AVG user for many years and have never wanted a program like Zen gone from my computer so much. Its an annoyance! I've used the above links, the removal worked fine. I'm running a 64 bit and have noticed that once I've downloaded the appropriate link and click to install, it doesn't install at all! Its becoming a fact the Zen is being forced apon us whether we like it or not!

Hello Mel,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
We understand that you want to install AVG program without AVG Zen.
May I know the name of the AVG program you wish to install?
Have you received any exact error message while you tried to install?
Thank you.
Tim BatesTim Bates
If people thought it was annoying when Zen installed itself, it got 100 times worse in the last few weeks/months. It now FORCES you to create a freaking Zen account before you can install the antivirus componant.
The sad thing is I only uninstalled a perfectly working copy because it tricked me into "upgrading" to the trial, and the only way back to Free was to uninstall (because they removed the downgrade option in the uninstaller too!).

Again, as a reseller, this is terribly embarressing to me. Trying to resell a paid product that has shamed itself via the free version is not only difficult, but I feel like I'm bullcrapping the customer.

I have downloaded this on May and install today, it works. It's AVG 2016 free without Zen, before you install, you will need to chose "Basic protection", not "full protection" , then install

some avg technical people told me the link is not available, but it still can download, they also said even I have the installer, I will still install Zen, but now my avg 2016 free has no Zen, AVG , please check the link and check with your developer , AVG 2016 still has free edition without Zen!!

Jarda,
We understand your concern, we apologize for the difficulties. Due to recent update with our AVG programs, we made this changes and sorry to inform you that it is not possible to install your AVG programs without AVG Zen interface for free and unlimited programs. It helps the user to view or manage all other devices. The possible option is that you could download http://www.avg.com/us-en/download your AVG Internet Security trial and AVG Antivirus Trial program without Zen interface. Thank you for your understanding.
martin .martin .
been with avg for years.
i have 2 licences that are still valid but had to uninstall and re install due to a problem on pc now cant activate the licence due to the zen part of the program.
all i want to do is enter my activation code.
i have 60 days left, however i will use the 30 day trial version then buy a decent antivirus program and tune up without this zen rubish.
sad to see avg go so badly wrong
