This is about the Regclean product/virus/malware/backdoor/threat
Tried to remove it with several products including Malwarebytes and AVG free. The regclean splashscreen or start screen annoyance is still popping up. AVG normally does a good detection job and did find this malware thing, identifying it as a PUP|, but despite removal instructions, did not remove it completely. I am afraid it may be attached to Chrome, or other Browser and is a Trojan of a much more nefarious nature, which would not surprise me considering it is out of India and the program does nothing but create a computer vacuum. (Sucks) Seems connected to predatory and crippling adware as well. The people who made it can't be good. I think it may be connected to the Trojan.Destfallen or similar new variant. All the online info is dated and nobody seems to give good comprehensive data on how to get rid of it except some 2013 stuff from spyhunter. And once u put that stuff on the net, the company just changes their signatures. I note that the program does try to detect AVG and gives notice that it does. Legitimately trying to detect false positive detection is one thing, but evading capture for base reasons is more likely.
The question is. how to get rid it for once and for all and the far larger question is, how to be sure the computer is clean if AVG Free cannot get rid of something this simple?
Please no annoying stroke by stroke beginner answers ... this is complex technically obviously and deserves some respect from AVG. I recognize the security issue of answering the question if the answer is self defeating to the issue... but confidence in AVG free is what is the issue too. Why trade up if there is no guarantee of solving these problems?
Older post so probably solution found, If not, try AdwCleaner (http://adwcleaner.en.lo4d.com/) One scanner does not detect all viruses/trojans/etc so along with your AVG realtime scans, occasionally use on-demand scanners like spybot S&D, superantispyware, etc. Also programs like IOBit Uninstaller removes programs and all remnants in the registry. Good luck.
