I do like AVG and AVG Zen but, it is causing a great problem when trying to get on the internet when using Windows 10. When i disable AVG firewall, I an able to conduct my business on the internet and send or receive mail. I see no updates to this problem for AVG program. I will have to remove this program and shop around for another protection program that will work. Is there any updates to this problem at this time?
Hello Bel. I apologize for the inconvenience caused. Could you please let us know whether you have received any blocking popups from the AVG program and please check whether your firewall mode is set to automatic? Thank you.
I am also havign this problem with Windows 10 & AVG Zen. Its not all the time but if I turn all protection off, I can access the web. If I then turn it back to automatic it seems to be OK for a while but then blocks everythign again (no web access at all). As with above, I like AVG and have used free version for years. Only in last year have swapped to paid and am not sure what to do now. My firewall is set to automatic and I haven't noticed any popups from AVG. The computer shows a connection to the web but its not as any web page just hangs.
Hi Bel and Chris, I understand that you are facing the issue with AVG firewall I request you to run AVG Repair NDIS tool by download from the below link. http://www.avg.com/tools#tba3 Please feel free to get back to us for any issues with AVG. Thank you.
Hi Bel and Chris, We apologize for the inconvenience caused. In this case I would request you to check your email inbox for further assistance to resolve the issue. Thank you.
My neice upgraded to Windows 10. She has the exact same symptoms. I can ping google.com for example, but cannot browse the web. If I disable AVG, the browser works.
Uninstalling AVG fails. Upgrading it also fails.
If I disable AVG, Windows Firewall still says that AVG is controlling its settings.
What is going on here?! This is causing much frustration for my neice trying to submit her work for her uni studies. I would love to have some direction and guidance here, and urgently!
We apologize for the inconvenience caused. understand how something like this can really try your patience. In this case I would request you to check your email inbox for further assistance to resolve the issue. Thank you. I
I had exactly the same problem. Suddenly my internet stopped working and after many restarts (pc + router) I found that AVG firewall was causing the problem. I disabled it and all is working again. All was working well yesterday. Now I switched to manual mode for the firewall (interactive mode). I was in automatic mode before.
Hello Daniel Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention, and I am sorry to know that you are having a problem with AVG firewall. I have sent you an email. I request you to follow the instructions in the email and get connected to our remote support as a best way of solving the issue. Thank you.
What, if I disable AVG on the host PC, the one, linked to the router and modem, to resume Windows Defender, in lieu with Malwarebytes; and leave AVG operational on the Wi-Fi connected (second) PC?
Hi Same issue here. My LAN connected PC works fine then loses ability to connect to the Internet. Turn off AVG Firewall and it comes back again. Turn firewall back on it seems OK for a while, then loses connection again. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. How to resolve please? Robin

Having the same problem. I have sent the diagnostic info, but of course I had to turn off the firewall to do so. Obviously you are having a problem you need to fix. Strange thing is, it happened all at once for no reason, unless you were downloading an update without advising me. One minute it was working fine and the next minute, no access.
We apologize for the issue that you are experiencing with AVG program. The log file that you submitted will be analyzed by our experts team and they will get back to you with the resolution ASAP. Your patience is much appreciated. Thank you for understanding.

I have had no connection since 12 November 2015 because of Limited Internet access (but excellent wireless adapter showing). It has taken me 5 days to discover that the AVG firewall is indeed the culprit. I first blamed Microsoft updates, I have done netsh winsock resets, I have done windows Repair, I have cried bucketfuls of tears because I run a business. The previous replies in this discussion thread are of no use at all. Have you not been able to discover a cause for this predicament your customers are experiencing. I am not sure what to do next. Stay with AVG (I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years) or go try something better. Your reply may sway my decision. I run three computer all with the same problem. one desktop wondows 10 - not connecting, windows 7 home 64bit not working, windows 7 professional also not working - till now.
Hello Phillip, We certainly understand how frustrating it is to have to go through this and we regret the inconvenience that it has caused. Could you please let us know whether you could able to get connected to the Internet after disabling the AVG program?
I have the same problem on Windows 8.1, the Internet doesnt work after installing AVG internet security 2016, it shows as I am connected to WiFi and everything should be fine, but no sign of Internet. Uninstalled it, but it doesnt change anything at all.
Hello Denis. I apologize for the inconvenience. Let me sort this issue for you. Before that, please let me know if you are able to get connected to internet by disabling AVG. To know steps to disable AVG temporarily, check out this link http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-disable-AVG Thank you.
Hello, thanks for your answer, I cannot connect by disabling AVG and I have uninstalled it and the internet doesnt work now as well, after removing AVG
The internet and router is working perfectly fine, all other devices work perfectly fine, 3 computers, except from mine, which shows as it is connected to WIFi, but chrome says it has no internet. Nothing else excpet from installing AVG is done and before that it worked perfectly.
Hello Denis, We completely understand how something like this can really try your patience. After disabling AVG if you are still unable to access internet, then the issue is not with AVG. Hence I request you to contact your internet service provider for help. Thank you for understanding. Please feel free to contact us for any further assistance. Thank you.
allow me to respond to what has been stated by AVG. I am also having the same problem of Browser not connecting while the AVG firewall is on. I have access only with Firewall disabled, as most of the comments are also stating, We have numerous computers, mine is the only one with AVG installed, therefore we can conclude that it is not the router, modem, or computer. but AVG fireall creating the conflict.
I have been told that MS Edge now has security features which will do as well as most Protection software. However, since I paid for AVG Ultimate I would expect it to offer superior protection as it advertises and has been rated.
I prefer to have this issue resolved so I can get on with my secure browsing.
and please do not advise that I contact my Internet provider. this is an AVG issue.
Hello Al, We understand how something like this can really try your patience. Please follow the instruction in the below article http://avgread.me/1cgDhdU your issue will be fixed. Please feel free to contact us for any further assistance. Thank you.
I am in the same predicament. Long time customer. Run AVG on all devices in my house. I have only upgraded one machine to Windows 10, and sometimes it just decides to stop allowing any browser traffic. I disable AVG firewall (set to ALLOW ALL) and everything starts working. Is there any kind of solution yet? You've clearly told plenty of people to gather data now.
Unfortunately, I'm having the same problem as everyone else here. I was using the AVG Zen Pro free trial... Once this expired I began to get a notification saying License expired please activate. I then tried to uninstall AVG completely so I could reinstall the free version, however, everytime I tried to uninstall or repair it there would be an error message and it would fail. Consequently, I bought an AVG pro license and managed to log in and now AVG works... but my internet doesn't work on either firefox opera. They are both allowed in the firewall's allowed programs list and the only way I can get online is to disable AVG. I have tried plugging my desktop into two different routers with two different ISP's and neither work. Yet both routers work with my other devices. I tried the instructions here: http://avgread.me/1cgDhdU which also didn't work. Please help.
Ok so I managed to fix my issue by doing the following steps. 1) Go to http://www.avg.com/tools#tba3 2) Go to the installation tab and download AVG remover. 3) Once uninstalled, go onto MY AVG account and redownload the AVG you are subscribed to. 4) Close all browsers and programs 6) Reinstall AVG 7) Once installed login to your AVG account when the profram requests it 8) Once logged in and finished setting up it will ask you to OPEN BROWSER with a big green link at the bottom of the AVG App 9) Click this, agree to let AVG install and change everything - you can change your homepage etc back later if you want. 10) Once it's all done that should be it.
It worked for me anyway - hopefully this will help some of you
I have same issue. I just installed AVG in my new surface pro, and suddenly the internet stop working. I checked other device that connected to same wifi spot and it was working fine. I disabled the firewall and then everything is normal again. Btw, I have read all your suggestions above and also sent the diagnostic info. I am just dismayed that such obvious problem goes unresolved for almost 4 months since this thread was started.
No, if AVG is blocking the internet connection then it is not the issue with the Windows 10 update. A complete reinstallation of AVG should fix this issue.
I'm having the same problem as well! Only seconds after I've installed AVG the connection died. I uninstalled the other antivirus that I had, tried the internet and it still didn't work. After that I uninstalled AVG completely and restarted the laptop ten times and it is still not working! What do I do now??? I have an exam that I should study for online! I need a fast reply!
Thank you for the information, John. In your previous reply you have mentioned that you have already uninstalled the AVG antivirus but the problem still persists, so this issue is not because of AVG.
Okay, John but once you uninstall our AVG program the issue should get resolved so that we can confirm that this problem is caused because of AVG program. However, we request you to send us the diagnostic information so that it will help us to analyze with this issue. This information will allow us to analyze the situation and provide you with solution: 1) Click this link http://www.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_SysInfo.exe to download the AVG SysInfo tool. 2) Run the downloaded tool. 3) Click Accept to confirm the license agreement, and then click Continue. 4) Once the screen Output created is shown, fill in any additional details, or click Attach if you want to attach any additional files, such as screenshots.
5) Click Send, fill in your email address, and then click Send again. 6) We will analyze the received files and provide you with further information.
Once the files are sent it will be analyzed by our level two technical team and they will communicate only via email. Please check for the email on spam or junk folders if it is not present in the inbox. Thank you.
Umm, nice okay. One problem, The internet is not working!!!! How am I supposed to open your link and download? I'm talking to you from my phone right now!
Hello David, We apologize. Our main goal is to keep our customers happy. AVG carefully monitors the quality of our products and the service we provide, therefore all feedback from our customers is important to us. When troubleshooting, sometimes we need to try things one step at a time to see exactly what happens. Depending on the result, the next logical step to try may be something completely different. Could you please eloborate the issue you are experiencing rightnow? so that we will understand your issue and help you with the same. Thank you.
I had this same issue today and it was very quickly fixed using an online chat session with AVG support (who were excellent). I don;t know if this will be the same for everyone, but here's something to try if the Firewall appears to be blocking all Internet access.
Make sure the Firewall is disabled, then...
1. Open Control Panel 2. Open Network Sharing Center 3. Click the link to "Local Area Connection" in the Connections area on the right 4. Click Properties 5. You should see in the list of items one called "AVG network filter driver" - if this has a tick, deselect it and then click OK 6. The remaining windows and then turn the Firewall back on - hopefully this should work!
Thank you so much. So, your post helped me. AVG Firewall has been block internet 2 days. I did anyway I can but cannot connect internet with AVG firewall on.
1. Open Control Panel 2. Open Network Sharing Center 3. Click the link to "Local Area Connection" in the Connections area on the right (There is no "Local Area Connection") 4. Click Properties 5. You should see in the list of items one called "AVG network filter driver" - if this has a tick, deselect it and then click OK 6. The remaining windows and then turn the Firewall back on - hopefully this should work!
Hello Isaac, We understand how something like this can really try your patience. Could you please let us know the name of the AVG product you have installed in your pc? so that we can assist you better in fixing it. Thank you.
Yes the process works. I spent 4-hours talking to Sky Support before finding the issue listed on this forum.
if using a wifi connection with Windows 10 then do the following ...
Open AVG and Disable the Firewall Open the Firewall icon Click on small star shape (bottom right) to open the firewall Setting Page Select Disable Firewall protection and click Apply
right click on on the Wifi connection (bottom right of desktop - 'quick-pick') Open 'Network Settings' scroll down and open 'Network and Sharing Center' Click on Connection: Wi-Fi connection In the Wi-Fi Status box open Properties find AVG Network Filter Driver and Deselect (un-check) click on OK then close Wi-Fi status box
close all open windows
open AVG again and Turn on Firewall.
If Wi-Fi is turn end off then... open the Wi-Fi connection (bottom right of desktop) Then Connect Wi-Fi
open Internet page to check connection is working ok
Message For AVG Tech Support Maybe be as a follow up AVG could open a discussion with Microsoft to come up with a suitalble patch or update that either AVG can release of Microsoft can come up with the patch/update?
millions of AVG users will be affected by this issue some of whom will lack the needed skills to carry out the changes listed above.
Same issue as everyone else. Yesterday I had no issues. Today I had no internet access unless I DISABLED the AVG Firewall. Different PC has no issues but is running Windows 7 Ultimate.
It took me a couple of hours to narrow the problem down to AVG. As far as I can tell there was no upgrade performed last night so I cannot understand why this would happen all of a sudden. I didn't even reboot my system before this happened.
I am running SysInfo as recommended in every other comment and have sent it in.
NOTE: I did find a post from Isaac Sogunro and following the steps he outlined, it appears that the firewall is back up and running properly (for now). Hopefully, this fixes the issue for good.
I have the same problem. Used another computer and found this site. AVG updated a few weeks ago and have not been able to get on internet since then. After reading these answers, I found the AVG firewall was set to block all internet access. I tried some of the other settings; but the only thing that works is to disable the firewall completely.

I can't quite figure out how to find the places to fix things that some folks have posted. I used to be able to find them on previous versions of windows; but windows 10 completely mystifies me
Yes, Angela since Windows 10 launched recently it will take some time for us to learn all of its features. Did you follow my remover tool instructions?
I have the same issue/problem, That AVG is actually stopping I.E from opening, I can open google chrome & browse the web but if I try to open I.E, It just don't/won't open. If I disable AVG from the bottom right tray icon, then I.E will open but otherwise most of the time it won't?
Is there a fix for this as It's only just started to happen! when my free 29 days trial ended, after that, I went back to the free AVG & it's been doing that ever since! Im running windows 7

That has made no difference for me, I have just done as you mentioned above! & I still can not open or use I.E so what is the proper fix for this? because the above did not work!
Hello Richard, We are sorry to know that the issue persists. I have just sent you an email with the instructions to get connected with our senior technical support team. Please follow the email instructions to get additional support to resolve the issue. Thank you.
Hi There I am also having the same really annoying problem as Richard D. I am running Windows 7 - 64 Bit. I cannot open Internet Explorer (tried standard and Without Add-Ons). I can open Chrome with AVG running. If I temporarly disable AVG then IE works great. This has happened after I tried the 30 Day Free Trial of Pro which I then declined to take up! I have looked at numerous sites to try to solve this. I have downloaded the removal App and re-installed with absolutely no change. I am running the Free Version 16.71.7596 so without the additional Firewall.
Please can someone help - If Richard D is up an running - I need what he has! Thanks.
Sorry to know that you are facing the same issue. We have sent you the email instructions to get our additional support. Please check for the email on spam, junk and inbox folders.
I'm actually still no better off! AVG is still blocking (I.E) from opening & to be honest I'm not actually happy with the email instructions sent to me from (AVG) asking for remote-in to my PC...
What I have done is to get around this, is de-installed AVG (which I will not be ever using again anytime soon) & purchased a better anti-virus that does not give me this issue/problem...
If AVG can not actually sort this problem out within there own in-house testing, before they release a version to the public, then why should they ask for remote-in to your PC...I find this unsecure & lasy work practice from them!
So until AVG can sort this out within their own in-house testing & show the public the correct procedure on fixing this issue, I will no longer bother with AVG in the future, which is sad, as I have always found AVG to be a good anti-virus...

I'm an I.T. professional and have been using AVG and recommending it to clients for many years with few problems. Since the ZEN update I've been having issues with client computers as well as my own. Right after the update from the prior version on my laptop, the wireless stopped working. I'm using the FREE edition with NO firewall. There are no AVG protocols bound to my wireless adapter, but the second I disabled AVG the connection started working immediately. I've had to uninstall / reinstall the product completely to solve some issues on client computers, which usually works. I haven't tried it yet on my laptop. I understand every software product has technical challenges, but this version seems to have been released a little too soon, especially the product update module. Perhaps AVG should just perform a complete uninstall / reinstall during their update as a temporary fix. I'll update if I find any additional fixes or information.
Hello Steve, We regret for the inconvenience caused. To get this issue fixed we request you to install the normal version of AVG Antivirus free without the AVG Zen part. First you need to run AVG remover tool and then install AVG Antivirus free. To run AVG remover tool follow the below steps : Please click on the below link to download remover tool http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe Accept the license agreement and then choose AVG Product and remove it.
I'm having the same issue running the free edition of AVG on a laptop with Windows 10. So there is no firewall; I had to disable AVG entirely to get the internet connection working. Luckily the problem only happens in coffeeshops, not at home, but still, I go out to these places several times per week to work so it's annoying. Combined with the constant annoying pop-ups trying to get me to buy the premium version, this means that once I get home today I will be uninstalling AVG and looking up the "second best" free antivirus to use instead. It is not worth reinstalling AVG just to keep dealing with those pop-ups, and risk having this sort of problem again.
Hello Lauri, We apologize if an AVG product did not meet your expectations. Our main goal is to keep our customers happy. AVG carefully monitors the quality of our products and the service we provide, therefore all feedback from our customers is important to us. If you have a specific experience with AVG products that you would like to share with us here www.avg.com/us-en/product-feedback , we would appreciate hearing about it.
My computer updated AVG watchdog I believe and now I have no internet. I have a paid subscription. Based on the comments here I'm a little surprised this isn't being addressed. I'm not an It person and have no clue what to do to fix this. Not pleased at the moment.
Hello Deborah, We apologize for the inconvenience caused. We suggest you to temporarily disable your AVG program ( http://avgread.me/1GnMD3N ) to check if the issue persists and let us know. Thank you.
I can't get it to open to disable it. There isn't an icon by my clock for the other option of disabling it. So frustrated. What other options exist? It has been installed. The system was taken back a few days on system settings and it still isn't working.
Also tried from the app/network, clicked modify and nothing happens. What I don't understand is why it shows me my computer as a wifi connection. 8 other computers/devices are able to see the internet but not my computer. It stopped recognizing the Internet last night, I rebooted the computer, still nothing and it did some updates shutting down and starting up. The day has been spent trying to connect.
Deborah, Thank you for the information. Please follow the uninstallation and re installation instructions provided above on this thread to check and resolve your issue. Thank you.
Yeah, this is a huge problem for both Windows 10 and AVG Tech. Noone is willing to accept responsibility for it. Microsoft blames both my ISP adn AVG, my ISP blames AVG, and AVG blames my ISP. Awesome, We're paying a bucket load for supossed top of the line service and we are basically getting scammed. Changing antivirus software in 3, 2, 1...
Hello Izzy, We regret the inconvenience caused. We would like to know whether you have installed AVG free or a paid version in your system? Please feel free to contact us back for further assistance. Thank you.
I find this entire thing completely dispicable. I delayed my upgrade to Windows 10 to let these things work themselves out. Finally thought enough time had passed. Wrong! My internet connection too was severed by the combination of AVG and Microsoft. I wasted time attempting the meaningless solutions for unistalling/reinstalling drivers, updating drivers, ipconfig, etc. When all of that failed I started thinking instead of looking for internet geniuses and solved the firewall problem myself. After I figured it out I searched and found this discussion. I am disappointed that this obvious and known problem was not published by AVG. I see a years worth of mediocre systems support, some smart users, and a whole number of frustrated users who wasted their time. This should have been published, patched and a notified to PC registered users "If you are upgrading to Windows 10 please be aware that our software will block your connection to the outside world. If you have this problem then temporarily disable your AVG firewall so that you can use that internet service you are paying for to fix our crap..." Truly dispicable business practice here. I will finish out my account and move back to Symantec and encourage others to do the same.
hello,I download AVG yesterday ever since i have had no luck in accessing google chrome but have no problem in accessing internet explorer so i know its not an issue with my internet i have even uninstaled AVG in an attempt to resolve the issue. I am very worried that i will not get access to the internet again through chrome and its rather frustrating that something that is ment to stop this sort of things can actually be the route of it. thank you.
Hello Brandon, We regret for the inconvenience caused.Could you please confirm whether you are still facing the issue with accessing Chrome after uninstall of AVG? Please feel free to contact us for further assistance. Thank you.
Thank you for confirming that your issue got resolved after uninstalling AVG. Could you please let us know the name of AVG program installed on your PC, is it trial, free or paid version?
Brandon, if the issue persists even after uninstalling AVG then it clear that the issue isn't caused due to AVG. Do you have other AVG program like AVG PC TuneUp installed on your PC?
you say this to every one but the issues never started untill they installed avg. if what your saying is true then its a pretty big coincidence that this has happened to hundreds of people straight after installing avg
Hello Brandon, We do understand your concern. However, as the issue still persists after uninstalling AVG, there should be some other application causing this issue. Are you having any other AVG program installed in your computer, apart from AVG Protection? Thank you.
AVG Ultimate - firewall blocks all internet traffic. Tried setting it to interactive and no alerts come up and can't use the internet. Had to diable the firewall to be able to get online.
The Windows 10 updates that ocurred today were:
Security Update for Microsoft OneNote 2013 (KB3115256) 32-Bit Edition
Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3176495)
Security Update for Skype for Business 2015 (KB3115431) 32-Bit Edition
Security Update for Microsoft Outlook 2013 (KB3115452) 32-Bit Edition
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool for Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2 x64 Edition - August 2016 (KB890830)
Security Update for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB3115427) 32-Bit Edition
Security Update for Microsoft Word 2013 (KB3115449) 32-Bit Edition
Security Update for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB3114340) 32-Bit Edition
I also updated AVG Ultimate but the firewall still doesn't allow any internet traffic.
Hello George, We regret for the inconvenience caused. We would like to remove installed AVG Ultimate from your system using AVG Remover tool and then try to reinstall AVG Ultimate. Remover and Download 1) To download AVG remover tool, please click on this link: http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe 2) Run the downloaded file and follow the onscreen instructions. 3) Restart your PC when the restart option is displayed on the remover tool screen. NOTE: Once you have logged into your PC after the restart, please go to C:\ drive and delete the "AVG REMOVER" folder manually.
I have been looking at this issue for the last couple of days and it looks like AVG firewall is messing with ISATAP traffic. Anything that is translated from IPv6 to IPv4 is allowed trhough but no IPv4 direct traffic gets through. There must be something that the firewall is looking for in the packets as IPv6 is disabled on my ISP connection so that translation is happening within my ISP's network.
Hello Jon, We regret for the inconvenience caused. Do you use a paid or free version of AVG? Is it a latest version (2016) which is up-to date? Have you installed any third party antivirus program other than AVG? Thank you.
Same issue, using paid AVG. Never had an issue with the free version. This is very frustrating especially considering from this thread alone we can see its going unresolved for a year now at least!!!
Unfortunately have had to uninstall AVG and resort to Defender (despite for paying for my year sub to AVG) as I cannot use the internet at all with AVG installed.
We are sorry to know that you were facing the same issue with AVG and then uninstalled it. This indeed disappointing. This issue will get resolved if we completely reinstall the AVG program using the AVG remover tool. We will work on this and assure you that this doesn't happen in future. Thank you for sharing your experience with AVG here.
I have completely removed the AVG software, I then reinstalled, 3 days later the issue returned, now I have AVG removed again so I can try to find a solution to the issue. It's beyond ridiclous. I have paid for a service, that is essentially useless.
So your technician reinstalled AVG, I told him withiin 2-3 days the problem would arise, but he told me not uninstall AVG this time and just click on the support link instead. He seemed unabel to grasp that with AVG installed, when this problem occurs (As it has now AGAIN) I have ZERO internet access until I uninstall AVG completely. Like I have had to do YET AGAIN. I am livid, if you are unable to figue this out, then refund me my years sub and I will go find an INternet security that works instead.
Hello Bel, We apologize for the inconvenience. Instead of uninstalling AVG, please check if you are able to connect to internet with AVG program disabled temporarily. Please click on this link for the steps to disable AVG temporarily http://avgclick.me/TempDisableAVG Thank you.
Have tried that and no. It makes no difference. Only once I uninstall, does it work again. AT a guess it looks like some service is being shutdown or blocked by AVG, maybe to be managed by an AVG equivilant, and disabling AVG does not restart the windows version. Thats all I can think of.
Hello Bel, We are sorry to know that the issue persists. In this case, I will email you a link to get connected to the remote support. You can follow the same and the remote technician will fix this issue for you. Thank you.
I have had this same problem for a few days, i deleted avg and installed the new version of internet security, the problem fixed then windows did an update overnight and so did AVG. now my internet is screwed again. HELP this is driving me crazy!
Hello Alli, We regret for the inconvenience caused. Could you please let us know whether you have tried to disable the AVG program and check whether you could access the Internet? If not please follow the instructions on the article http://avgclick.me/DisableComponents to disable the AVG program. Thank you.
Fresh Windows 10 install on a LAN PC in a Windows 2008 domain. Installs fine and works for a while then suddenly stops commnicationg with the Internet, any domain controller and remote admin. Ping works however. A reboot solves it until next time.
I have reinstalled a couple of times after using the removal tool and also turned off AVG filtering in adapter properties but it is still happening. No problem with any other OS on our LAN, predominantly Windows 7.
We are sorry to know that this problem keeps repeating. We need to analyze the log files of AVG program so that we can fix the issue in future updates. Are you using the free, trial or paid version of AVG program?
Thank you for the information. Could you please confirm whether it is the AVG Internet Security Home edition license or our AVG Internet Security Business Edition?
Just had this issue and spent about a day and a half looking online just to find out my issue was a simple checkbox. First, I uninstalled all instances of AVG. Next, I went to Network and Sharing Center/Ethernet/Properties. There's an AVG network filter driver that I had to deselect. Internet worked immediately. Then downloaded newest version of AVG.
Hello Chris, We apologize for the inconvenience caused and really appreciate your efforts in fixing this issue. The solution you have provided will be helpful to most of our customers. Thank you very much for your valuable time and co-operation in bring this to our concern.
Am I right in saying the other people on this thread had Interent not working at all, even at startup? On this machine it is useable for a period of time, maybe an hour or so, then Internet stops.
Turning the AVG filter driver did not work for me. I have sent a sysinfo file off to AVG and in the meantime have used the remover to uninstall it. Internet has been running fine since but now relying on Windows firewall and no antivirus.
The only things special to this machine are it is running the full Adobe Creative Suite and also PortableApps. I am not sure if something particluar to these software programs is perhaps causing AVG to block traffic?
Hello Bel, Thank you for sending the sysinfo file. Your details will be analysed by the concerned team and you can use this link to connect to our support to know the status of your logs http://www.avg.com/us-en/customer-support-business Thank you.
I just had the same basic problem as everyone else. A windows 10 update was just applied today automatically (Security Update KB 3193494) as well as two other major updates that were (according to Windows) installed tomorrow (KB 3176935 and KB3176937). Notwithstanding the obvious bollocks in the Windows date reporting, since there are only a couple of places in the world that have got to tomorrow, I suspect that one of these updates has done something to the AVG firewall driver for the network. After the Win10 update had rebooted the PC, I had no internet access by browser (I could ping, so the network itself was functional). All other devices were working, so I knew it was an issue specific to my machine. AVG reported a yellow warning symbol stating a firewall issue (thankfully) so I fairly quickly worked out to disable the firewall and got internet access back. Found this thread and follwed the instructions from Feb (Dave Hanna?) as follws:
Open AVG and Disable the Firewall
on the PC, click on network connection icon (right click Open Network and Sharing Center, on the left menu select change adapter settings) or (left click, network settings, change adapter settings) right click network adapter (mine was a wired connection called Local Area Connection) and select properties Find AVG network filter driver and un-check it. Apply change Open AVG again and Turn on Firewall. After that, browsing was working, and as far as I can tell the AVG firewall is on.
Had the same problem, AVG pro. A few months ago I solved the problem but cannot remember what I did. Again- 1 PC connected via ethernet cable to router, no internet with AVG firewall on. Other laptops, mobiles and tablets in the house all running AVG work just fine. Followed Bruce Levitan steps ( first to come with this solution in January) and PC works fine again. Another problem is AVG pop-ups telling me the connection is not secure/ trusted, although it is my home connection. Clicking buttons for option or 'I trust this network' do absolutely nothing as the pop-up is completely unresponsive. Useless AVG support, all they can say is we are sorry for your problem and that they understand your frustration ... most probably with an indian accent. Last year with AVG for my household.
Alan, It is indeed disappointing when you have to contact us multiple times about the same issue. It could be better if you provide us the screenshot http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot of the exact error you are getting. We would like to inform you that, the popup which prompted with "I trust this network" will appear only at the time of fresh installation of your AVG programs. No worries, we will look into this issue and help you better. Thank you.
@ Alan Brown Alan, For your info, just in case that you are unaware, you can post the screenshot here in the topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions. AVG Guru
Hi, like the many messages above, I am having the same issue. It's actually taken me a long time to work out it was AVG though so have just re0installed my whole PC from scratch thinking it was a problematic Windows driver, and the http.sys having issues starting etc etc.
Everything was working fine until I installed AVG Internet Security (I'm a subscriber). I've used the latest version as I'd downloaded it from the internet. Once installed after a few minutes the internet stopped working (though I seem to always be able to google things, but can't get to any sites). I'm using a work computer on the same network which doesn't run AVG (my company opted for Sophos). Both these machines use Win 10 and both connected to the same router through a wired hub.
Based on the fact there doesn't appear to be a good fix above (apart from try to reinstall again), I'm unistalling for the time being and would like to be informed when/if a solution is released or some kind of hotfix. Actually, as I'm typing this, the AVG uninstall took ages, then failed. It's now saying I have to wait for the current program to finish uninstalling, which it isnt. Sigh.
Richard, We regret for the inconvenience caused to you. In this case, we suggest you to reboot your device and run the AVG remover tool to uninstall and reinstall your AVG programs. Click this link http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe to download and run your AVG remover tool, once the tool is run, your PC will automatically reboots. After the restart, please check if a folder with name AVG Remover is created under C: and remove it. Now click this link http://www.avg.com/us-en/download to download your AVG program, run the downloaded file to start the installation process and follow the instructions on your screen. Complete the installation and restart your computer.
Then check if you are able to access your internet without any issues, if not please disable http://avgclick.me/TempDisableAVG your AVG program temporarily and get connected with our technical support http://avgclick.me/AVGtechnical for further assistance. They should be able to resolve the issue for you. Please, feel free to let us know if you require any further assistance. Thank you.
Hello Bel, We regret for the inconvenience caused. We would request you to try for re-installation of your AVG Network driver updater to get the issue fixed. Please follow the below mentioned steps to get the issue fixed. Steps: - Disable AVG Self Protection - Go to Control Panel -> Network Connections -> right click on the network area which is active -> "Properties" A/ - If there is "AVG Network filter driver" uninstall it and restart the computer twice - AVG Firewall initializes auto-repair function so "AVG Network filter driver" should be automatically installed (therefore two restarts are needed) B/ - If there isn't "AVG Network filter driver" click "Install " -> "Service" -> "Have Disk" -> "Browse" and look for
c:\Program Files\AVG\AVG2015\Drivers\avgfwfd.inf - Click "Open" button and follow the prompts - Restart the computer twice C/ - Enable AVG Self Protection back If the issue is still persist please let us know, we are here to help you. Thank you.
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. After installing AVG security program at rare instances this internet connection lost issue occur and the solution is to reinstall the "AVG network driver". The instructions for reinstalling AVG network driver was provided by Aravindh previously. Once this is done the same issue won't occur.
Useless! Keeps blocking all of my Internet connections, even when I disable the firewall. Removed from my computer as soon as I could. I want a refund as this software is not fit for purpose. You have been aware of the issue since at least August 2015 and this still has not been resolved? What kind of development team do you have??
Hello Hawa, We apologize for the inconvenience caused. We have sent you an email instruction to get connected with our technical support team. Please follow those instructions to get in touch with them and you should be able to resolve your issue. Thank you.
Im having the same issue, my laptop and desktop both have the same issue, says its connected but no internet access. When the pc is on safe mode with networking, it works fine.
Hello Baveet, We are sorry to know that you are unable to connect to Internet after the installation of AVG. This can happen due to an update error. We suggest you to check if the AVG program in your computer is up to date, if the issue persists, please click on this link for the steps to run AVG repair avgclick.me/RepairAVG Thank you.
If you are just to say sorry and asking us to try repair, uninstall and re-install solutions, you can forget it and go fly your kite! So deeply disappointed with the quality of your software. Getting worse with each new version. I thought initially the problems came from my modem and/or router. But after wasting so much time troubleshooting, getting you guys to do a "take-over" screen session to install/uninstall and self-troubleshooting, the only problem I concluded lies with your software. After I uninstall AVG, my internet works perfectly and it is faster!! So what kind of software are you selling to your market, and where's the QC and beta testing?! After so many years of using AVG, I am jumping ship!!! You can't even address the problem correctly. So many unhappy customers are complaining in this thread for almost a year, and no concrete solution and/or update have been adrdressed by AVG, SHAME ON YOU! Am asking for refund NOW!
Hello Brian, Regret to hear about that. Have you tried to disable AVG Network filter driver and check? If not, please try the steps below: 1.
Avinash, I have already tried all these you have mentioned! Internet still does NOT work after sometime or the next reboot! For goodness sake, revamp your internal algorithm and workings inside the software, test thoroughly before pushing out to the market.
Hello Bel, We do understand how difficult this is for you. In this case, we suggest you to send your feedback on A VG products from this link and this reaches the concerned team http://avgclick.me/AVGfeedback. Thank you
I have had 2 remote sessions with your technicians, with a complete uninstall/re-install of AVG. This still has NOT resolved my problem with Wifi connectivity. As soon as I disable AVG, wifi is fine. Activate = no Wifi. This has been an immeasurable waste of time. I have been a faithful customer of AVG for many years, however you're losing me for a better 'bugfree' product. AVG needs to resolve these issues prior to implementing into the retail world.
I have had the same problem since updating to Windows 10. None of the above solutions worked and I don't have access to internet at home right now so don't want to bother with the tech support. I just researched the problem again as I am visiting my son for holiday and he has good internet connection. I have the latest PAID version of AVG. I didn't realize I was on automatic purchase until too late and quickly cancelled it for next year. Meanwhile I find it annoying that this is happening when I PAID for this protection. I can only get on the internet if I disable the firewall. I'll just have my son help me find something usable,,, quite a bit of cash down the drain here.I was hoping that with the update it would fix the problem; but it did not.
I am trying to uninstall the AVG protection and the uninstalling app does not succeed with the error 0x0782. I am going to find the code via phone as I still not have internet connection on my Windows 10.
Vladimir take a flash or external drive, go to another computer that is connected to the internet, download their removal tool onto the drive, put the drive into the computer that can't connect, run the removal program and watch your ability to surf the net come back! So frustrated with this product. Thought I was getting a great deal and a good program...now I realize it was a waste of my money.
I am having the same problem... got a new HP laptop...no issue. New Dell-- no internet connection. Ihave uninstalled the driver and restarted the cmputer twice but still no change. It doesnt seem to matter if the AVG firewall is on or not.
We appreciate your efforts, we apologize. In this case, we request you to reinstall your AVG program to fix the issue. Refer this article to uninstall http://avgclick.me/UninstallAVGAV your AVG program.
Kindly download your AVG remover and run it, then go to C: -> AVG Remover -> Bin -> pctremover.exe and avgfmwremover.exe (do not restart your device if prompted), then run avgremover.exe (it will automatically reboot your device).
Then please remove the AVG folders manually as suggested below. Go to Run window (press windows key and R key simultaneously) and type the following comments to delete the folders.
1. Type “Temp” and press enter, remove all the files. 2. “%temp%” and remove all the files. 3. %appdata% - Remove all the AVG folders. 4. %programdata% - Open the AVG folder and remove the old files.
Please go to c: drive-> program files and delete the AVG files. Then proceed with the installation as suggested here: http://www.avg.com/us-en/download and check for the issue.
Please feel free to get back to us for any issues with AVG. Thank you!
So...after paying AVG $19.99 to uninstall, clean the temp files, run the AVG removal utility, then reinstall AVG Internet Security, all was fine.
For a day. The next day, I couldn't access the Internet, AVG wasn't detecting any other devices or PCs on my home network, and I was back to square one. Every single device (Android and Windows 10) could access, as well as send printing jobs to my shared wireless printer.
I printed every single fix on this thread, and unticking the "AVG network filter driver" in the Open Network Sharing Center > Properties panel. That worked for a day. I couldn't figure out why my AVG would still block my Internet access, so I looked at every PC (3 of them) to see what was different than mine.
Mine had the AVG PC Tuneup software, and the others did not. I uninstalled Tuneup, restarted my PC, and I've not encountered any issues. I hope this finally fixes the issue. Time is deadlines, and deadlines are money.
I don't know if this was a coincidence, or not, but I was running Tuneup for months, and AVG Internet Security, as well. The problem started when I upgraded my Internet Security software to the next level (I can't recall what is called, right now - I'm fried).
Tuneup is gone, PC is working with Internet Security upgrade and the Firewall is on (for a whole day, so far!). So, maybe this will shed some light that there may be a conflict.
Hello Lori, We apologize for the inconvenience caused. We have sent you an email instruction to get connected with our technical support team. Please follow those instructions to get in touch with them and you should be able to resolve your issue. Please feel free to get back to us for further assistance. Thank you.
This thread started in August 2015. It's now December 2016 and AVG users are still struggling with the same problems. AVG's response each time is to apologise, then ask people to uninstall and reinstall their software...
I've uninstalled (using AVG Remover), and manually deleted (app data, etc) and reinstalled AVG so many times now it's beyond infuriating. Each time, my internet connection works for a day or two, then everything becomes blocked again.
Is there an answer or and actual fix to this problem, or will I just be told to uninstall and reinstall AVG again? I've been a paid user for years, but as AVG haven't properly addressed this huge problem for its users after 15+ months, they show they're not willing to fix their problems and instead are charging their users for software that makes their computers unusable.
Hello Stephen, We do understand your concern. However, please be informed that the AVG is working fine in most of the Windows 10 computers. However, in some cases the recent Windows update cause some issue, which are being rectified by AVG. To fix this Internet connectivity issue, we suggest you to try to connect to the web site from Google Chrome browser and see if you still have any issue. Thank you
I've removed AVG completely and I haven't had any problems in the past week. I'm going to try to install AVG again to see how it takes for it to block my internet access.
I also had a Customer Services operator email me to say that they can provide a remote engineer to connect to my computer to fix the problem --- obviously this will not work if AVG is blocking my internet access.
Hello Stephen, We regret for the inconvenience cauased. Please try to reinstall your AVG program again. If you are still facing any issues with your Internet Access, please let us know, we are here to help you. Thank you.
AVG, I'll refer you to my original post, 10th Dec:
I've uninstalled (using AVG Remover), and manually deleted (app data, etc) and reinstalled AVG so many times now it's beyond infuriating. Each time, my internet connection works for a day or two, then everything becomes blocked again.

Hello Stephen, We are sorry to know that the issue persists. We have emailed you a remote link to get connected to the remote support. Please follow the same and they will fix the issue for you. Thank you
I have the same problem! Every day I have to uninstall to get my internet back and the reinstall to be protected, which costs me about 30 minutes of my working day. ´This is intolarable! I use the FREE version, but was going to buy the full version. Unless this problems is fixed within the next 2 days, I am going to buy McAfee. I can't NOT be protected and I can't NOT be connected to internet. Please advise.
Hello Di, Hello Anthony, We suggest not to send multiple post for the same issue. In future please refrain from carrying out multiple postings on the same subject! You won't obtain an answer to your query any faster!. Please click on this link for the answer for your previous post https://support.avg.com/answers?id=906b0000000DYXx Thank you.
I've had this same issue 3 times and just now - through this post - I have found a light to what may be happening. I have the paid AVG Ultimate anti-virus installed on my windows 10 laptop and I've had to reinstall windows 2 times already in just 2 months because AVG will not uninstall completely in any other way. I have lost entire days of work and I cannot see here (or anywhere else, for that matter) a definitive solution for this issue. Any alternative to having to reinstall windows on my laptop again? Please help...!
Maria, Have you tried this steps mentioned below (provided earlier on this thread) to fix the issue? Make sure the Firewall is disabled, then...
1. Open Control Panel 2. Open Network Sharing Center 3. Click the link to "Local Area Connection" in the Connections area on the right 4. Click Properties 5. You should see in the list of items one called "AVG network filter driver" - if this has a tick, deselect it and then click OK 6. The remaining windows and then turn the Firewall back on - hopefully this should work!
I've been posting on this forum for weeks, uninstalled AVG countless times (and been told to uninstall and reinstall again) I've been offered a remote Engineer to connect to my computer (via a computer that cannot access the internet because AVG is blocking it!!). And here I am again, typing on this forum via my phone as my computer, again, cannot access the internet. It's clear AVG aren't going to fix the problem and so I'm asking for my money back (I'm a paid user) and I'll use a different provider. Weeks upon weeks of frustration with no solution coming isn't acceptable.
I am having the same problem with AVG. After rebuilding Windows 10, I have had to uninstall and re-install AVG 3 times already and it's fixes itself for a bit and then this morning again it starts blocking internet access. It still blocks with setting set to ask and even with AVG disabled it's still blocking internet access. This is happening in our business and we can't spend another day rebuilding AVG, how does this get sorted AVG?
@ Josh Hod Josh, Are you actually referring to an AVG 'Business products' version?. If so, Have a look @ this AVG webpage (https://support.avg.com/business_contact_form?l=en_US). Please be informed that this Community forum basically deals with 'home' version of AVG products. AVG Guru
The only answer that really works is from Avinash, repeated below. However, the only way AVG works is by disabling a part of it... That's funny (not quite!!) Now I don't know if I am protected enough, because I disabled a part. ---------------------- Maria, Have you tried this steps mentioned below (provided earlier on this thread) to fix the issue? Make sure the Firewall is disabled, then...
1. Open Control Panel 2. Open Network Sharing Center 3. Click the link to "Local Area Connection" in the Connections area on the right 4. Click Properties 5. You should see in the list of items one called "AVG network filter driver" - if this has a tick, deselect it and then click OK 6. Same problem here. No AVG Network filter driver on the Properties of the Local Area Connection. I could access Internet as of yesterday but not AVG is blocking it. I WON´T REINSTALL. If AVG randomly blocks my internet access and i do not have any easy option to reconnect back to the internet I will ask my money back. Simple as that. I will also ask my money back for the VPN as on the offer it doesn't say that browsing with Chrome still has IP leaks (only when you go to troubleshooting of course, then AVG says to change browser... I've been using Chrome for 10 years and I'm not going to change it.). I paid for both product but enough is enough. Please don't answer with the "I apologize for the inconvenience bla bla". I you want to monetize so aggresively with popup that we end up purchasing your produts, take more care of the functionality and user experience.
Abel, I apologize for the delayed response. Please be informed that AVG 2017 don't use the "AVG Network filter driver" as previous versions. Please provide more details regarding what have you been experiencing with your internet. This will help us to assist further. Thank you.
Firstly, if so many people have the same issue why not just post the answer and stop wasting peoples time? instead of "check your email bla bla crap"
Secondly, the exact same issue is happening on windows 10 with avg updated almost 2 years after the post was made, why the hell am i paying you guys to write shitty code and not fix it? do you not alpha or beta test updatesd before releasing them?
I have 4 computers in the office that have this issue, something that i should have been able to read the thread and find the answer and resolve, now i will be waiting for days to have a response "in my email". you have 24 hours to resolve this issue or i will change to another provider. As other providers take their customers security seriously.
I can understand how difficult this is for you. This issue was resolved in the latest version 17.5.3021 of AVG Internet Security. Please check if you have latest version installed in your computer. To check this open AVG Internet Security->Menu->About.
If you still face after installing latest version of AVG, please let me know, so I can check the same and assist you further.
Hello Michael, I understand that you have installed AVG Internet Security 2017 and it's firewall is blocking your internet connection. In this case, I request you to change AVG Firewall network profile to private (open AVG Internet Security > menu > settings > components > firewall > customize > network profile > change all the network public to private), please go to Firewall customize settings again > scroll down > click on system rules > enable all the system rules if it's not configured, please click OK and check if you can access all the websites with enabled AVG Internet Security. Best regards, Alok.
Sorry to say but the problem is persistent, yet the reply stay the same throughout, send analytics, un-install, re-install, follow the advice from other users, as we would have followed their advice also 😊. In this day and age one does not have the time to babysit a company, its products and support. Should AVG not be able to provide a solution then acknowledge this. Except for the financial loss, it is far easier to move onto another protection system than to put up with the nonsensical replies from AVG.
Hello, We're sorry to know that you feel this way. We request you to create a separate AVG community post by clicking the link below and post your questions in your own post, so we will check with your AVG account and help you with additional support. https://support.avg.com/support_ask Thank you for your understanding.
It comes to something when a Customer publishes the answer and not AVG themselves....
Matt Higgins Ok so I managed to fix my issue by doing the following steps.
It worked for me anyway - hopefully this will help some of you
I understand that you are facing the issue with AVG firewall
I request you to run AVG Repair NDIS tool by download from the below link.

Please feel free to get back to us for any issues with AVG.
Thank you.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
In this case I would request you to check your email inbox for further assistance to resolve the issue.
Thank you.
Many thanks
We apologize for the inconvenience caused. understand how something like this can really try your patience.

Thank you. I
I had exactly the same problem. Suddenly my internet stopped working and after many restarts (pc + router) I found that AVG firewall was causing the problem. I disabled it and all is working again. All was working well yesterday.
Now I switched to manual mode for the firewall (interactive mode). I was in automatic mode before.
Any solution for this?
Thanks
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention, and I am sorry to know that you are having a problem with AVG firewall. I have sent you an email. I request you to follow the instructions in the email and get connected to our remote support as a best way of solving the issue.
Thank you.
I, too, am having the same issue.
Talked to an AVG rep over the phone, who advised me, after disabling the Firewall, to uninstall AVG and install it again.
however, after reading the above correspondence, I am not sure that this would work.
I'm sharing two PC's. The host, the one connected with the router and modem is in Windows10 and it's experiencing the problem.
the other PC, in windows7 (with avg 2015 and Malwarebytes, as the first one) is working just fine over the wi-Fi.
ideas, please!
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration with regard to that matter.
Please, respond! I really need a feedback.
Thank you very,very much!
Same issue here. My LAN connected PC works fine then loses ability to connect to the Internet. Turn off AVG Firewall and it comes back again. Turn firewall back on it seems OK for a while, then loses connection again. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. How to resolve please?
Robin

We certainly understand how frustrating it is to have to go through this and we regret the inconvenience that it has caused.
Best regards,
I apologize for the inconvenience. Let me sort this issue for you. Before that, please let me know if you are able to get connected to internet by disabling AVG.
To know steps to disable AVG temporarily, check out this link http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-disable-AVG
Thank you.
Thank you
Thank you.
Nothing else excpet from installing AVG is done and before that it worked perfectly.
Thank you
We completely understand how something like this can really try your patience. After disabling AVG if you are still unable to access internet, then the issue is not with AVG. Hence I request you to contact your internet service provider for help. Thank you for understanding. Please feel free to contact us for any further assistance. Thank you.
We understand how something like this can really try your patience. Please follow the instruction in the below article http://avgread.me/1cgDhdU your issue will be fixed. Please feel free to contact us for any further assistance. Thank you.
Thanks,
Josh

10) Once it's all done that should be it.
It worked for me anyway - hopefully this will help some of you
Thank you for sharing the work around. We would have also suggested the same for this issue.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused. Please follow the instructions given by Matt and do let us know the status of your issue. Thank you.
Btw, I have read all your suggestions above and also sent the diagnostic info. I am just dismayed that such obvious problem goes unresolved for almost 4 months since this thread was started.
We couldn't find the diagnostic information, that you have submitted.
Did you get the successful message while sending the information to us?
No, if AVG is blocking the internet connection then it is not the issue with the Windows 10 update.
A complete reinstallation of AVG should fix this issue.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
May I know whether the AVG program installed is the free, trial or paid version?
In your previous reply you have mentioned that you have already uninstalled the AVG antivirus but the problem still persists, so this issue is not because of AVG.
However, we request you to send us the diagnostic information so that it will help us to analyze with this issue.
This information will allow us to analyze the situation and provide you with solution:
1) Click this link http://www.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_SysInfo.exe to download the AVG SysInfo tool.
2) Run the downloaded tool.
3) Click Accept to confirm the license agreement, and then click Continue.
4) Once the screen Output created is shown, fill in any additional details, or click Attach if you want to attach any additional files, such as screenshots.
6) We will analyze the received files and provide you with further information.
Once the files are sent it will be analyzed by our level two technical team and they will communicate only via email.
Please check for the email on spam or junk folders if it is not present in the inbox.
Thank you.
We are sorry to hear about the inconvenience caused. We would request you to follow the steps in this article ( http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Restore-Internet-connectivity ) if it helps. Please, feel free to let us know if you require any further assistance. Thank you.

Make sure the Firewall is disabled, then...
1. Open Control Panel
2. Open Network Sharing Center
3. Click the link to "Local Area Connection" in the Connections area on the right
4. Click Properties
5. You should see in the list of items one called "AVG network filter driver" - if this has a tick, deselect it and then click OK
6. The remaining windows and then turn the Firewall back on - hopefully this should work!
Thank you for sharing the workaround.
We really appreciate your efforts.
Thank you so much. So, your post helped me. AVG Firewall has been block internet 2 days. I did anyway I can but cannot connect internet with AVG firewall on.
Did you disable and enable the AVG network filter driver as suggested?

2. Open Network Sharing Center
3. Click the link to "Local Area Connection" in the Connections area on the right (There is no "Local Area Connection")
4. Click Properties
5. You should see in the list of items one called "AVG network filter driver" - if this has a tick, deselect it and then click OK
6. The remaining windows and then turn the Firewall back on - hopefully this should work!
We understand how something like this can really try your patience.
Could you please let us know the name of the AVG product you have installed in your pc? so that we can assist you better in fixing it.
Thank you.
I spent 4-hours talking to Sky Support before finding the issue listed on this forum.

Click on Connection: Wi-Fi connection
In the Wi-Fi Status box open Properties
find AVG Network Filter Driver and Deselect (un-check)
click on OK then close Wi-Fi status box

open AVG again and Turn on Firewall.
If Wi-Fi is turn end off then...
open the Wi-Fi connection (bottom right of desktop)
Then Connect Wi-Fi
open Internet page to check connection is working ok
Maybe be as a follow up AVG could open a discussion with Microsoft to come up with a suitalble patch or update that either AVG can release of Microsoft can come up with the patch/update?
millions of AVG users will be affected by this issue some of whom will lack the needed skills to carry out the changes listed above.
Thank you for taking your valuable time to share the useful information here. Thank you.
Sorry to know that your facing the same issue.

Thanks
We are sorry to know that the issue persists. I have just sent you an email with the instructions to get connected with our senior technical support team. Please follow the email instructions to get additional support to resolve the issue. Thank you.
I am also having the same really annoying problem as Richard D.

We regret for the inconvenience caused.

if what your saying is true then its a pretty big coincidence that this has happened to hundreds of people straight after installing avg
We do understand your concern. However, as the issue still persists after uninstalling AVG, there should be some other application causing this issue. Are you having any other AVG program installed in your computer, apart from AVG Protection?
Thank you.
Hello I am having the same issue.

Could you please confirm whether it is the AVG Internet Security Home edition license or our AVG Internet Security Business Edition?
Dan, Business Edition.. You may also want to try this link (http://www.avg.com/ww-en/customer-support-business). This will lead to this further link (https://support.avg.com/business_contact_form?l=en_us&retUrl=business).
AVG Guru
OK Dan, In that case you've adopted the correct procedure to obtain AVG support for your Business Edition.
AVG Guru
We apologize for the inconvenience caused and really appreciate your efforts in fixing this issue. The solution you have provided will be helpful to most of our customers.
Thank you very much for your valuable time and co-operation in bring this to our concern.
Thank you for sending the sysinfo file. Your details will be analysed by the concerned team and you can use this link to connect to our support to know the status of your logs http://www.avg.com/us-en/customer-support-business
Thank you.
Dan, I think Karthikeyan (AVG Technologies) was actually addressing the reply to yourself.
AVG Guru
After the Win10 update had rebooted the PC, I had no internet access by browser (I could ping, so the network itself was functional). All other devices were working, so I knew it was an issue specific to my machine. AVG reported a yellow warning symbol stating a firewall issue (thankfully) so I fairly quickly worked out to disable the firewall and got internet access back.
Found this thread and follwed the instructions from Feb (Dave Hanna?) as follws:
Open AVG and Disable the Firewall
on the PC, click on network connection icon (right click Open Network and Sharing Center, on the left menu select change adapter settings) or (left click, network settings, change adapter settings)
right click network adapter (mine was a wired connection called Local Area Connection) and select properties
Find AVG network filter driver and un-check it.
Apply change
Open AVG again and Turn on Firewall.
After that, browsing was working, and as far as I can tell the AVG firewall is on.
It is indeed disappointing when you have to contact us multiple times about the same issue. Thank you.
Alan, For your info, just in case that you are unaware, you can post the screenshot here in the topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

Sigh.
We regret for the inconvenience caused to you.
We regret for the inconvenience caused. We would request you to try for re-installation of your AVG Network driver updater to get the issue fixed. Please follow the below mentioned steps to get the issue fixed.

- Go to Control Panel -> Network Connections -> right click on the network area which is active -> "Properties"
A/
- If there is "AVG Network filter driver" uninstall it and restart the computer twice

B/
- If there isn't "AVG Network filter driver" click "Install " -> "Service" -> "Have Disk" -> "Browse" and look for
c:\Program Files\AVG\AVG2015\Drivers\avgfwfd.inf
- Click "Open" button and follow the prompts
- Restart the computer twice
C/
- Enable AVG Self Protection back
If the issue is still persist please let us know, we are here to help you. Thank you.
Blocking all traffic through browsers and we thought it was caused by update from Windows 10.
I cant really see why this hasnt been fixed from your end.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
We are sorry to know that you are unable to connect to Internet after the installation of AVG. This can happen due to an update error. We suggest you to check if the AVG program in your computer is up to date, if the issue persists, please click on this link for the steps to run AVG repair avgclick.me/RepairAVG
Thank you.
Regret to hear about that. Have you tried to disable AVG Network filter driver and check? If not, please try the steps below:
We do understand how difficult this is for you. In this case, we suggest you to send your feedback on A VG products from this link and this reaches the concerned team http://avgclick.me/AVGfeedback.
Thank you
AVG Guru
Ihave uninstalled the driver and restarted the cmputer twice but still no change. It doesnt seem to matter if the AVG firewall is on or not.
Now what ?
We appreciate your efforts, we apologize. In this case, we request you to reinstall your AVG program to fix the issue. Refer this article to uninstall http://avgclick.me/UninstallAVGAV your AVG program.

Thank you!
We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
We have sent you an email instruction to get connected with our technical support team. Please follow those instructions to get in touch with them and you should be able to resolve your issue.
Please feel free to get back to us for further assistance.
Thank you.
We do understand your concern.
Thank you
Stephen, What's the situ if you disable the AVG Firewall (http://avgclick.me/TempDisableAVG)?.
AVG Guru
I've removed AVG completely and I haven't had any problems in the past week. I'm going to try to install AVG again to see how it takes for it to block my internet access.
I also had a Customer Services operator email me to say that they can provide a remote engineer to connect to my computer to fix the problem --- obviously this will not work if AVG is blocking my internet access.
We regret for the inconvenience cauased. Please try to reinstall your AVG program again. If you are still facing any issues with your Internet Access, please let us know, we are here to help you.
Thank you.
AVG, I'll refer you to my original post, 10th Dec:

Hello Anthony,
We suggest not to send multiple post for the same issue. In future please refrain from carrying out multiple postings on the same subject! You won't obtain an answer to your query any faster!.
Please click on this link for the answer for your previous post https://support.avg.com/answers?id=906b0000000DYXx
Thank you.
Have you tried this steps mentioned below (provided earlier on this thread) to fix the issue?
Make sure the Firewall is disabled, then...
1. Open Control Panel
2. Open Network Sharing Center
3. Click the link to "Local Area Connection" in the Connections area on the right
4. Click Properties
5. You should see in the list of items one called "AVG network filter driver" - if this has a tick, deselect it and then click OK
6. The remaining windows and then turn the Firewall back on - hopefully this should work!
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Did you check whether AVG network filter driver is listed on the network properties?
This is happening in our business and we can't spend another day rebuilding AVG, how does this get sorted AVG?
Josh, Are you actually referring to an AVG 'Business products' version?. If so, Have a look @ this AVG webpage (https://support.avg.com/business_contact_form?l=en_US). Please be informed that this Community forum basically deals with 'home' version of AVG products.
AVG Guru
However, the only way AVG works is by disabling a part of it... That's funny (not quite!!)
Now I don't know if I am protected enough, because I disabled a part.

I apologize for the delayed response.
I understand that you have installed AVG Internet Security 2017 and it's firewall is blocking your internet connection.
Best regards,
Alok.
send analytics, un-install, re-install, follow the advice from other users, as we would have followed their advice also 😊.
In this day and age one does not have the time to babysit a company, its products and support.
Should AVG not be able to provide a solution then acknowledge this.
Except for the financial loss, it is far easier to move onto another protection system than to put up with the nonsensical replies from AVG.
We're sorry to know that you feel this way.
We request you to create a separate AVG community post by clicking the link below and post your questions in your own post, so we will check with your AVG account and help you with additional support.

Ok so I managed to fix my issue by doing the following steps.
1) Go to http://www.avg.com/tools#tba3
2) Go to the installation tab and download AVG remover.
3) Once uninstalled, go onto MY AVG account and redownload the AVG you are subscribed to.
4) Close all browsers and programs
6) Reinstall AVG
7) Once installed login to your AVG account when the profram requests it
8) Once logged in and finished setting up it will ask you to OPEN BROWSER with a big green link at the bottom of the AVG App
9) Click this, agree to let AVG install and change everything - you can change your homepage etc back later if you want.
10) Once it's all done that should be it.
It worked for me anyway - hopefully this will help some of you
