How do I remove a pop up “Windows 7 PC Repair” using the Microsoft and AVG logos claiming to be required to speed up my PC / fix virus problems.

Hi, I am getting a pop up pushing “Windows 7 PC Repair” using the Microsoft and AVG logos claiming to be required to speed up my PC / fix virus problems.. A search shows it to be a nasty virus which could highjack my pc and which will make me pay to have it removed. I get a number of different links to go to, 2 of which are shown below. I haven't logged on to any of them to date. Please advise how I can remove. At one point it said that McAfee Secure is on my computer. Running a full scan shows the computer to be clean.

OK, sorted. First I deleted all temporary files and emptied the trash. Then I downloaded the latest version of Stinger from McAfee (make sure it is from the McAee home site not some other who are try to sell you rubbish) and configured this to run across the whole of the computer rather than default settings. This took hours! It found 9 virus's some of which it could not clear. From the report I found these virus's, confirmed they weren't critical files and manually deleted them. I then emptied the trash file again and rescanned using Stinger. No virus's found. Then I rescanned using AVG and it has been ok for 2 weeks. (Used to fail daily).

Alan is correct in that no anti-virus software is 100% but this is the first time in AVG have missed a problem so I will be sticking with them.

Mick, For removal info have you 'googled' remove windows 7 pc repair pop up?..
No AV product is capable of providing you with 100% protection although AVG are always working 24/7.

Thanks Alan, I had drawn a blank on google but I ran Stinger from McAfee that found 1 instance of Artemis and erased it. It came on an update. Only time will tell! Some advice on google if Armetis returns.

I will read your articles but agree that no company can be 100% and AVG have always been great over the past 5 years or so I have used them on 4 computers.
