sep 30 2016 windows 10 cumulative update KB3194496 problem

After both my laptop and desktop got the latest (30 SEP) cumulative update for Windows 10 version 1607 for x64-based systems (KB3194496), both computers' AVG detected 22 viruses, and when they were cleaned and the systems rebooted, they both went into a continual reboot after a couple minutes.  I had to uninstall the cumulative update in order to make both computers stable again.  Later that day, Windows again automatically performed the update, and AVG again saw 22 "viruses."  I had to once again uninstall the update.  What's going on AVG???

Mark,
The Windows update mentioned seems to be a conflict with AVG and we suggest you to uninstall it and turn off the automatic windows updates to avoid getting the same update again. Thank you.
Mark DurstewitzMark Durstewitz
I've uninstalled it twice, but Windows 10 doesn't let me "turn off automatic updates," does it?  I'm forcing the update again and will provide a screenshot of the "threat."

Now I'm in real trouble.   After forcing Windows to reinstall the KB3194496 updated, after the restart It kept giving me a blue screen saying it could boot and said the boot drive was inaccessible.  I was able to go into advanced options and use a previous restore point to get the machine running again.  Don't you people have a Windows 10 pro machine with the KB3194496 update, so that I don't have to be the guinea pig?
Mark DurstewitzMark Durstewitz
That works for Wi-Fi connections but not for Ethernet.  So now I have to stop getting important OS updates AND give up Ethernet?  I hope you all find the incompatibility with AVG quickly, because I'd rather uninstall AVG temporarily and go back to Defender than "hack" my OS just so your software works.

AVG report after Windows 10 PRO installed KB3194496

Isn't there a way to upload the entire report instead of a screen shot?  You can't see much useful in a screenshot.  I clicked on "archive report," but I don't know where that file is to upload it to you.

I've reverted both machines back to prior to the KB3194496 update, Turned on metering for Wi-Fi and hacked my Registry to turn on metering for Ethernet in my desktop.  AVG now runs the scan with no viruses found.  But this is only a stop-gap measure until your team can figure out why AVG is detecting the latest Windows 10 Pro update as 22 viruses.  At this point, trying Safe Mode wouldn't do anything.  Can you tell me how to send you the AVG scan report that detected the "viruses" from the Windows update?  I'd be happy to attach it to this thread.

Hello Mark,
Please submit your sample on our submit sample page so that our developers could analyze the issue. Please follow the instructions on the article http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=What-to-do-when-AVG-detects-harmless-applications-or-websites to submit the samples.
Thank you.

If you can tell me where the AVG log file is, I will upload it and you will get a list of every file that was part of the KB3194496 update.
Mark DurstewitzMark Durstewitz
I cannot upload the actual files, because I rolled back the update.  I will send you the AVG log file if you trell me where it is.  Don't any of you have Windows 10?  Surely someone on your team is already working on this problem???

Hello Mark,

I can see that Kishore, has sent you the email instructions to get our additional support.
Have you followed those instructions to get our additional support?
Mark DurstewitzMark Durstewitz
No, I have not.  I have over a dozen computers running Windows 10 Pro, but only two of them are used on a daily basis and they both have this problem with AVG thinking the last Win 10 Pro update are viruses.  I cannot go through so many machines via distance support, so I am waiting for a fix to be provided via AVG update to solve this problem so that I can re-enable Windows 10 updates.  In the meantime, I am leaving the other computer turned off until I hear that the problem has been corrected.
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Mark, actually this issue is because of the recent Microsoft update KB3194496. So it has to be fixed by Microsoft. Only if it is fixed the issue can get resolved.
Mark DurstewitzMark Durstewitz
So is AVG working with MS to correct the problem?   Is AVG the only antivirus software having issues with KB3194496, or are other antivirus progams like McAfee or Symantec also giving false virus alerts?
AvinashAvinash (Avast)
Hello Mark,
Thank you for your patience. We are glad to inform you that the issue has been fixed in the latest released AVG update. Please check for available updates within your AVG program and install them to resolve the issue. Thank you.
Mark DurstewitzMark Durstewitz
And yet you said it had to be fixed by Microsoft....This does not inspire confidence.
AvinashAvinash (Avast)
Mark,
We're sorry for any misunderstanding happened. Please note that we have always informed you that it was some compatibility issue with AVG and that Windows Update but not a Microsoft issue completely. It is usual that whenever a new version of Windows or new updates are released, they might change something in your PC that the apps on your PC may malfunction. We're glad to inform you that this issue is fixed now and AVG is working fine with Microsoft updates. Appreciate your understanding, thank you.
Mark DurstewitzMark Durstewitz
Thank you.

I wish that AVG and other antivirus companies would get each Microsoft update a few days before consumers/businesses do in order to test and verify there are no incompatibilities before they make consumers' computers unusable.  If AVG was installed in business computers when this last problem occured, the damage in loss of productivity could have been tremendous.
