AVG Free 17.3.3011 - scan history location

Hi,

AVG Free  for windows 10 used to have a history report before the upgrade that was easy to find.  I can not find the report that showed completed scans and updates.  Has anyone been able to find it?

Thanks a ton and enjoy the day!

I have this same question. I was so frustrated trying to find the Scan history log report,His and when I could not, I came across this post. I can not believe AVG would not have the ability to view the Scan History Log Report. Having an antivirus scanner without the ability to view a Scan report is mind boggling. Being a user of AVG for many years, decisions to make changes like this make me wonder if my decision needs to be changed, and time to start researching alternatives.

I have spent hours trying to find where the scan reports are hidden. Without them I have no idea what has or hasn't been found, and what has been done with anything suspicious. The version I had before the big update was far better. I have already sent my feedback. I am very unhappy with this. Is there an anticipated timescale for any new update on this matter?

This may help Windows 10 users looking for reports on your scheduled scans.   I found the reports stored in the Windows 10 hidden folder C:\ProgramData\Avg\Antivirus\report under the file name I assigned to it when I set up the scheduled scan and  report file.  .

I  had to  enable viewing of that hidden folder by going to OS (C:) clicking  the VIEW tab at the top of the page, and checking the box on the right HIDDEN ITEMS.  After that the Program Data folder appeared with all the other folders.

Unreal.  To take away functionality takes TIME and MONEY, so there is a reason that the history report has been removed.  It is not likey that AVG will put it back without trying to extract subsciption dollars somehow.  I, too, have been a long-time user of AVG, and the insidious pop-ups to make me try to upgrade were bad enough.  Now without a history report, I might as well be using Windows Defender (which also does not have a history report).  As other users have noted, this report can tell you many things, but for me it was the way I knew when the last scan was and how long it took to finish.  Even without finding any nasties, the report was useful to help you decide if you should run a scan or not, based on when the last one was and how much time you have.  Avast is owned by the same parent company as AVG, and Avira has come out ahead as leader in the free antivirus market.  Sadly, I will also be checking them out, and I will no longer be recommending AVG for free users or paid, which I have done freely and often in the past.

Hi Mary,
We apologize if an AVG product did not meet your expectations. Our main goal is to keep our customers happy. The various scans will run in background and the scan reports will be available in Scan settings. The AVG Internet Security interface will only shows the scan report of the manual scan and will disappear once the scan is completed. Please use the following instructions to generate reports of the scans : Open AVG Zen > Internet Security (Anti-Virus free for free users) > Click on Settings near Scan now > Select the small Gear beside the scan type > Report file > Generate file to check the scan reports.

You can find the reports in C:/Program Data/AVG/Anti Virus/Reports

Please, feel free to let us know if you require any further assistance. Thank you.

Good luck with getting an answer to the wher are the reports question it is one of the things that I asked about when the recent unheralded update to AVG Internet Security started causing issues.

Maybe you may recognise the problems I have been having, my thread appears under "General Discussion" like yours. The problems I have had came along with the irritating AVG pop ups, please view this thread to see you are not alone, but you may not get any help from AVG.

Since the Recent Update of AVG this is apparent........

Akash was close (maybe autocorrect interfered) but the correct folder to find scan reports is
C:\ProgramData\Avg\Antivirus\report

Where do we find the resident shield results?
Alok KumarAlok Kumar (Avast)
Hello Derrick,
Please let us know, which AVG version (2016/2017), you have installed on your computer. Also, please send us a screenshot of the AVG user interface. You can check the following link to see the instructions about taking the screenshot (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-create-a-screenshot). We look forward for your reply.
Best regards,

Hello Derrick,
Thank you for getting back to us with the screenshot. Unfortunately, we cannot see the Resident shield results in the latest version. Once the scan completes, it will not show any scan report unless you have any threats in your computer.
If you want to generate a scan report please follow the below steps,(for example: Deep virus scan is considered.)
- Open AVG
- Open Scan setting (symbol of gear, bottom of the window)
- Open Deep Virus Scan setting (symbol of gear, Deep Virus Scan tile)
- Click on "Report file"
- Check "Generate report", fill "Filename" (e.g. AVGScanReport), and check all reported items (Infected items, Hard errors, Soft errors, OK Items, Skipped items)
- Click on "OK" and "OK"

To view the scan report, please follow the path " C:ProgramDataAvgAntivirus report"

Please do contact us if you face any difficulties.
Thank you.

I'm on Windows XP using AVG 17.4.3014. I  have a scheduled scan and I set it to generate a report in the settings. But I can't find the report. I see you've said where to find it on Windows 10 but where is it on Windows XP?

(Also it would be nice if you added a button so you can just click on it to see the report or something. This is so much less intuitive and convenient than AVG has been for many years with this feature.)

Hello A,

I understand your concern on checking the AVG scan reports. You can check the reports from this location in Windows XP computers: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVG\Antivirus\report. If you still face any difficulty, feel free to contact us.

Thank you

One year ago, when the inability to view scan logs from the GUI was reported (see above), Aravindh replied on behalf of AVG that "No need to worry, our developers are working hard to add this feature in newer version."

One year on, despite persistent complaints, it seems we are no closer to having this elementary and essential feature restored. AVG, what kind of impression do you think you are creating, here? Do you think paying customers like myself are going to renew their subscriptions?

Yes, we are aware of it, Alan.

It is indeed disappointing when you have to contact us multiple times about the same issue.

Unfortunately, we haven't received any fix for it. We request you to re-submit your feedback via AVG Internet Security -> Menu -> About -> Product Feedback to check its status.

Struggling with non-AVG technology? We can fix that, too!
