Hi Elizabeth,

We apologize for the inconvenience. You can uncheck this email signature from the AVG Anti Virus FREE Settings and that should fix the issue. Please open the AVG Anti Virus FREE interface and click on "Settings> General> Uncheck Enabe AVG Email signature".

Thank you!

I'd like to remove this as well, but when I got to setting, all I have is the options to change my device type and the name. I am the administrator of my computer as well.

Hi Lisa, I don't have AVG Zen Free, so the interfaces are probably different. However, in case it is at all helpful, this is how I got rid the AVG signature on my AVG AntiVirus Free.

On the AVG AntiVirus Free interface screen there are four gray squares across the middle of the screen with the subjects: Antivirus Free, PC TuneUp, Secure VPN and Web TuneUp.

Click on the AntiVirus Free square. This will bring you to a new interface.

Click on Menu at the top right hand corner of the screen. Select Settings.

Under the General tab uncheck the box that says "Enable AVG email signature".

Me too, I unchecked, but it still continue with email signature.
It is unpleasant also because of a bad text encoding:
"Questa email è stata esaminata..."

Hello Jani,

I certainly understand your concern. AVG email signature is enabled by default in AVG Settings. It shouldn't appear after disabling it.

Hello Henry,

I can understand your concern. Please follow the below steps and disable the email signature from AVG in your computer.

There are two types of signatures - one is added to e-mails sent using e-mail client (e.g. Outlook, Thunderbird...) and the other is added to e-mails sent from the web browser (e.g. Gmail.com). There are individual settings to disable those signatures.

1. E-mail client
- Go to AVG > Menu > Settings > Components > Email protection > Customize > Behavior > uncheck "Insert note into clean message (outgoing)" option and save the settings.

2. Web mail
- Go to AVG > Menu > Settings > General > uncheck "Enable AVG email signature" option and save settings.

If you face any difficulties, feel free to contact us.

Really annoying and virus-like behavior. I never authorized AVG to do this- it likely tricked me with one of its thousand popups that can't be disabled. You really think this is the best way to market your services and create a positive reputation for your product?

Hello Ryan,

I regret for the inconvenience caused. Please let me know the exact issue you are facing with AVG, so we can provide you the best solution.

I too have the same issue. Please advise.

Using AVG Internet Security Unlimited, to get the signature off, I had to disable the virus alert in emails:Settings/ Components/ Email Shield/ Customize/ Behavior/ General/ Mark in subject...

It's either intentionally wrongly set up for advertising or sloppily coded and would be an incredibly easy fix, and I see from these forums that people have been having this problem for at least a year. Fix it!

Hello Jonathan,

I understand how difficult this is for you. This subject is preferred by some of the customers to make sure that their incoming and outgoing emails are scanned. We will also inform this to the senior team and make sure to check.
KarthikeyanKarthikeyan (Foundever)
Thank you for your valuable feedback. This issue was escalated to the senior team and they will be considered in future AVG updates.

Hello
I just got to this thread, because I also would like to remove the email signature (for incoming mails) that appears in thunderbird since beginning of June last year.

Using the German version of Antivirus Free, I do have the email signature deactivated. However, I dont't have the checks for "insert note info" in the behavior options.

User-added image

I have now deactivated scanning the incoming emails as well (scanning of outgoing emails was deactivated already), in order to just prevent that unliked signature. However, this is not how it should be. If I'd have the option to just deactivate the note, I would be glad, but that's not possible.

I had been happy with AVG for a long time, but the more frequent popup notifications, asking me to buy and use a paid version aside of that email signature have caused the change of my opinion. Therefore, I will probably uninstall AVG after all and switch to use another antivirus software.

Cornelia,
Sorry for the trouble, could you share the screenshot of your behavior option and general settings interface where you have unchecked " enable AVG email signature"?

Open AVG Antivirus Free -> Menu -> Settings -> General, take a screenshot of it and then go to Components -> Email Protection -> Customize -> Behavior, share its screenshot. Provide us the version of AVG you have installed and we will try to resolve the issue quickly.

I think its disgusting that AVG sneaked this into my Gmail account.
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Hello John,

By default, the email signature will be enabled in AVG Antivirus/AVG Internet Security.
If you would like to disable it, open AVG Antivirus/AVG Internet Security interface.
Click on "Menu-->Settings-->Basic Protection-->Email Shield".
You can find the check box saying "Add a signature to the end of sent emails".
Click on the box which will disable that feature and then click on "Close".
Feel free to contact us if you need further help.

This only works until AVG updates then it puts its obnoxious advert back into my emails.
Two of my Email adresses are used for bussiness, so I cant afford to have tacky adverts from third parties forced into my bussiness messages.
I will be removing AVG completley as this seems to be the only long term solution.

Hi,

I am trying to remove the AVG logo from my Outlook email on my computer as it is my business email and I cannot have third-party info in it. Additionally, it seems to flag itself as every email I receive an email, it will not download the AVG pictures and I have to click the link to make sure I'm not missing smething sent from a client every time. I tried the procedure for removing from web-based email, which worked. However, I have no options to remove the logo from my incoming email on by PC-based Outlook email. The above instructions say to click on "Components", but I don't have that option. Please advise how to remove this from my Outlook PC emails.

I was unable to find a thread for this subject that was updated, so for anyone looking, go to:

Menu -> Settings -> Basic Protection -> Email Shield

The checkbox is "Add signature to the end of sent emails". Hope this helps!

I just discovered today that this software has been editing my email signiture without my expilcit permission, for god knows how long. This might as well be a Trojan doing this - disgusting behaviour from an organisation that should have higher values.

Anybody using this product that was not aware and reads this should also evaluate whether they think this is reasonable behaviour.

Disgusting.
