I am creating a program with Qt on Windows using OpenCV for people with disabilities and using a webcam. When I launch the program, sometimes, the webcam won't start. I spent many hours on this and I finally pinpoint the problem to "AVG Protection". About 50% of the time I launched the program, I was receiving empty frames (the webcam opened succesfully but the frames were empty). With AVG Protection uninstalled, it works 100% of the time. Even if I tried disabling AVG antivirus the sometimes my frames were empty. I really had to uninstall AVG Protection.
I tried adding the program in the AVG exceptions but it did not change anything.
What could I do ? I want to deploy my application to other people and the basic solution "don't use AVG" does not seem good.
Thank you very much,
Alex

Please follow the instructions to change the Firewall settings and check if that works: Open AVG Zen -> Internet Security -> Click on Menu in the top right corner -> Settings -> Components -> Firewall -> Customize -> Network Profiles -> Change the networks from Public to Private (If it is in Private, change it to Public).
Thank you.

These programs are used thousands of users and have a digital sign - OMT-LIDER, TOV.Since April I have gotten many complaints from my users with one issue: AVG blocks a webcams access for my programs. Why?, before we don't have any problems with AVG!
I produced that situation and tested the AVG Internet Security 17.3.3011 (170504-2) in our lab. My users were right - the problem in AVG.
You can test my programs in your lab too. These programs are free for usage and can be gotten by using those URLs, see above.
Hope on your help,
Viktor

AVG make no mistake about it you guys clearly crossed a line and infringed upon perhaps a legal matter blocking the use of hardware, and limiting software functionality in legit software that has valid signatures. You are essentially controlling software through a white/blacklist from your company where customers have no control over or any kind of setting in the program. You are stepping in legal shit and each day longer it takes for you to fix it the shit smells worse and worse
SHAME ON YOU AVG !!!
We apologize, please send us diagnostic information from your computer to analyze the files and provide you with further information.
Thank you!
