Error Message "UI Failed To Load"

Is anyone else getting the "UI failed to Load" error message on their Windows XP machine?

I just installed the following:

     AVG Antivirus Free Version: 17.4.3014
     AVG Network: Not Connected
     Build Number: 1.181.3.3057

and now I can't get the UI to load.  Tech support says I have a conflict and I say, "you changed something so you fix it, don't expect me to pay for something that was working, which is now broken."

So much for a "free" version of AVG.

HELP!!!

One more time!

This is the error message I get when trying to view the AVG interface by clicking on the icon in my tray in the lower right corner of my XP laptop display.

I also tried the AVG Clear and AVG Remove processes suggested to Glen by Akash but it didn't clear the problem.

Hi Ron,
Thank you for providing us the screenshots, we suggest you to install some Microsoft Support files from https://goo.gl/8P7At1 and then check the issue. In case the files are already installed, please remove them and install a fresh copy.
Thank you!

Akash,

Your link took me to a Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 page.  I downloaded the x86  version but before installing it, I deleted the 2012 x86 version already on my machine.  I then tried to recreate the problem and I got the same AVG Antivirus Free UI failure to load error message.  I then installed the 2015 version, rebooted my machine and tried AVG again.  No luck, got the UI message again.

FYI, I used Visual Studio a few years ago but deleted it from my machine.  I must have missed the redistributable piece.  I'm thinking I will delete what I just installed as I don't think I need it.  BTW, the downloaded .exe file was about 13 MB but only a 0.4 MB piece was installed.

In my current AVG state, will I continue to receive any virus signature updates so that my machine remains protected or will my signature file decay over time such that I become increasingly exposed to infections?

Bottom line:  still getting UI error message.

Hello Ron,
We really appreciate your efforts. No need to worry, let us try to reinstall AVG 2017 version and check whether it resolve the issue. We would request you to remove previously installed AVG program traces from your system using AVG Remover tool and then try to reinstall AVG Anti virus free.
Note:If you have installed any other Antivirus  programs like AVAST, NORTON, MCAFEE or KASPERSKY, Please uninstall it first to avoid conflicts when installing AVG.
Once you have uninstalled from your system, try to follow the steps which mentioned below.

Aravindh,

I ran the steps you outlined above.  Things were a little confusing in Step 2 when I was asked to use the Safe Mode.  As it was the default, I said yes even though when I ran an earlier version of this process provided by Akash the answer was not to use Safe Mode.  Anyway, things seemed to end normally and I installed version 1817.  Unfortunately, after restarting following the install, I get the same error message.

If it would be easier for you to remotely take control of my machine, let's do that.  You can call me at 919-400-8002.

I'm unhappy with AVG tech support.  First, I'm sent an email that AVG wi'll provide me with remote tech support to solve this problem, or at least try one more attempt to solve it.  In the same email, I'm told that remotely connecting with an XP machine is a risky proposition.  After working with three different techs to get me connected so they can remotely troubleshoot the problem, we don't succeed and the last tech tells me he can solve the problem remotely but I have to update my OS to Windows 7 or 10 to get connected.  I'm not even sure this machine meets the minimum requirements for 7 but I know it doesn't for 8 or beyond.  Then when I mentioned that the AVG tech team in the Phillipines providing free consultations had previously remotely logged into my machine, I was pretty much called a liar.  I suggested AVG's left hand speak with their right, that is Phillipines-based tech Angelica and/or her supervisor, but that pretty much fell on deaf ears.  As all of this happened around lunch time today and I haven't received any further feedback, I guess I'm on my own, which means to me that AVG Antivirus Free no longer supports Windows XP.

Ron,
We understand this might be disappointing, we see that our remote technicians have suggested you to get connected via safe mode. Have you tried this? We are trying our best to resolve this issue, we can go forward only if we have your support and patience.

Ranjani,
Yes, the last thing we tried was safe mode with internet.  We still couldn't get the applet to connect.  Thus, no access to my machine and even more importantly, at least according to the last tech, no resolution of the problem for me.

I recently had a major issue with uninstalling and reinstalling AVG Internet Security on my Windows 7 PC. AVG support staff were excellent and eventually the remote technician succeeded in installing Internet_Security_x64_1825. I managed to run one scan but when I tried to re-open AVG, I experienced the "UI Failed to load" error. I am not an IT expert but I am a person who makes things happen. I've found a solution and I hope it works for you:
1. Edit the PATH environment variable on your PC by adding the path of avgui.exe If you haven’t done this before, please google it.
2. Uninstall AVG Internet Security using Control Panel or RevoUninstaller
3. Run AVG Clear, AVG Remover and AVG RemoverFix, with all the required restarts. If a restart doesn’t happen by itself, do it manually. I understand that AVG Remover isn't supposed to work on more recent versions of AVG Internet Security but it doesn't appear to do any harm.
4.  Restart your computer.
5. Install a slightly older version of AVG Internet Security (Internet_Security_x64_1820.exe worked for me) instead of the most recent versions such as Internet_Security_x64_1825.exe or Internet_Security_1824.exe
6.  Restart your computer again.
7. Cross your fingers! It worked for me.
