Starting Watch Dog Initialization

Hello people!

I have Fujitsu U574 laptop, operating system Windows 10. I use AVG antivirus. At the same I downloaded 360 Total. When I ordered full check and repair, 360 Total suggested adding some windows files /I don't remember what exactly/. I accepted. After finishing the process I restarted my laptop and it showed the following on the screen:

No key works, no action happens. I can’t start up the laptop. I have read that I should use AVG rescue bootable USB. I did what has been told in introductive video, but it does not work as well.

What is the reason of the above mentioned problem?
Is it possible to solve this problem without formatting and losing files?
Who can help me to solve this problem?

Zara

Hello Zara,

Sorry, this issue should have happened because of installing 360 Total program along with AVG antivirus.
Did you try booting your PC into Safe mode?
If not please follow the instructions mentioned in this link: http://www.howtogeek.com/107511/how-to-boot-into-safe-mode-on-windows-8-the-easy-way/
to boot your Windows 10 into safe mode.
If you are successfully in safe mode then please run the AVG remover tool to remove the traces of AVG antivirus.
1) To download AVG remover tool, please click on this link: http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe
2) Run the downloaded file and follow the onscreen instructions.
3) Restart your PC when the restart option is displayed on the remover tool screen.
NOTE: Once you have logged into your PC after the restart, please go to C:\ drive and delete the "AVG REMOVER" folder manually.

After this boot your PC into normal mode and check whether the issue persists.

Hi,
I am experiencing the same problem.  I have removed the installed avg and then I have rebooted a couple of times.  To be sure the problem was due to the avg.  This worked.

WHen I reinstalled the avg, the problem reappeared.
How can I solve it now?

Thanks in advance,

I have exactly the same screen as at the top. Only difference is laptop brand and dates. I am running Win10.  I have looked at many help sites and they say to start in safe mode with F8 or shift F8.  I have tried both of these and I get the same results. It takes about 10 minutes for the screen to appear each time I start after a forced shutdown. There is no other option from this screen other than forced shutdown. I am writing this on my iPhone and I do not have a way to make either a CD or a flash drive?  Do I have to make one of these and use it to boot my PC?
KishoreKishore (Avast)
Hello Peter,
We would request you to create AVG rescue CD on different PC and use it on the PC on which you are facing the issue and check whether you could login into your PC.
Peter CheckovichPeter Checkovich
Thanks Kishore. It's unfortunate that I need another computer to make a rescue CD. The only other type of computer that I have at my home is a Mac. I downloaded the software to the Mac, then tried to run Setup as taught in the video. The Mac could not run the software. Is there a Mac version of the software for download? I think there is a way to run a Mac in Windows mode, but I don't know how to do it. If I want to use a Mac is this necessary?
KishoreKishore (Avast)
Hello Peter,
Please be informed that the AVG Rescue CD is not available on the MAC OS. Please try to create the AVG Rescue CD on windows platform and check whether you could access your PC.

Two laptops in my shop had this and I got a tip from AVG CC that led me to the solution.  Both had Logitech adapters for a mouse.  This turned out to be the problem.  Logitech drivers plus Win 10 anniversary update plus AVG = Watch Dog Black Screen.

Remove Logitech USB adapter.  Holding down the power button in the middle of rebooting brought up the Start Up Repair screen from which I was able to get to safe mode.  Then uninstall AVG.  Run removal tool.  Reboot back to normal. Run the http://support.logitech.com/en_us/software/setpoint software.  After installation I was able to plug back in the Logitech adapter (at which time it acquired the different drivers from Setpoint) and reinstall AVG as normal.  Several reboots and no problems.

William Schubert you are THE MAN! I have been fighting with my laptop all damn day,, read your post and realized I too just bought a new Logitech (M325) wireless mouse a few days ago .. it did not start acting up until this morning but as soon as I removed the logitech USB adapter windows was able to start up no problem.. AVG uninstaller was finally able to finish removing AVG.. thanks again.

Hi Guys. I just solved this same issue on my Asus A455L running on Windows 10. Last night i had an update and this morning it all went to sh*t.

I happened to be using a logitech bluetooth mouse for my laptop and i tried removing the USB receiver as per the suggestions here, and it worked all the time.
I tried plugging it back in before restarting my laptop for a few times and again, it fails to start 100% of the time.

I only plug it back in once my laptop has finisihed all the boot up, until the mouse pointer doesn't show any loading icon, because it seems like it still messes a bit with the boot up process if i plug it back in before a complete boot up.

So i guess there could be a compatibility issue with the combination of logitech bluetooth dongle, Win10 latest update, and AVG Antivirus Free latest update?

Will there be a fix coming soon? or do i have to remove the dongle everytime i'm switching on my laptop?

Not gonna uninstall my AVG since it's been a real lifesaver since as long as i've had my own computer, so i really hope this'll be looked into.

That's all from me, hope i've helped a bit.

I had the same error as Zara above. I did the steps to start avg remover and it's taking forever! It asks to restart my computer and then when it does I just get a black screen with a buffering thing. I let it run for about an hour last night before I had to stop it and I started again tonight and it's been an hour already and it's still buffering. When I started up my computer today, a lot of avg stuff was uninstalled so will the rest uninstall tonight if I keep letting this run? Or do I need to try something else? When I open the remover and it searches for avg files on my laptop, it asks me to check the things I want uninstalled and before it had three check boxes and this time it only showed avg tune-up. I know it says to be patient, but how long is too long?

Hello Truli,
We really appreciate your valuable efforts which you have taken to fix it. As we requested you to install latest available drivers/software from Logitech. Why do I need to download Logitech and how will it to help?
AravindhAravindh (Avast)
Hello Zara,
Logitech is term which we used  to represent for drivers. AVG watch dog  issue is normally caused by if you are installed outdated drivers like keyboard or mouse. To ensure that we request you to check for latest updates on your drivers.
We would request you to follow the below steps to check whether your drivers are updated.
Step 1: Press WIN DOWS button along with R key.
Step 2: Type devmgmt.msc in run command.
Step 3: Select Keyboard and right click which followed by MICE .
Step 4: Please right click and select update all drivers.
Check whether your drivers are updated with latest version. If its updated try to restart your system once after drivers are updated and check whether your AVG programs working good. Feel free to contact us again if you need any further assistance.
Thank you.

I am having this problem with Windows 10 and AVG Business, same problem.  Black screen and Watch Dog message.  We have over 70 PCs with Windows 10, so far 2 have failed in the last 24 hours with the new updates.  We do not have any logitech drivers on any of the PCs.  These are not laptops.  They are freshly built and installed with Windows 10 Professional.

So far I have been unsuccessful trying to uninstall AVG in safe mode and when Windows 10 reboots after running the uninstall tool we get the black screen and nothing.  We are going to be resetting these 2 PCs and if I get anymore problems with AVG and Windows 10 I will no be renewing my subscription to AVG.

Poor very poor.

Hello AVG Support Team,

I have been facing the same problem with my laptop since yesterday and am unable to fix this problem which has practically paralyzed my laptop!!!

Was under the impression you guys "fix" problems..NOT create them!!

Tried following your instructions re. Running in "Safe Mode" but was unable to access the internet while in that mode....so how do I download the link for AVG Remover?

Kindly assist to clear up this mess asap! I an now wondering how to take an important exam tomorrow when this silly problem is causing so much havoc....NOT everyone can just "magically" access another laptop/PC...that too at the last minute!

Really bad call on your part, AVG!!

Oh boy, this watchdog thing is an unmitigated disaster.  It happened to my computer last Wednesday, and I was absolutely dead in the water for 4 days.  I followed all of the advice on this discussion board, but to no avail.  I couldn't even start the computer in safe mode.  I had to have an experienced computer tech come in and save my computer.  $500 later and 4 missed days of work and I finally have my computer back.  It is ironic that the very thing that AVG is trying to protect against -- viruses that cause the failure of a computer -- is exactly what it caused!!

Hello Paul,
We are sorry to know that your computer is affected by this watchdog error. This issue is caused by outdated Logitech drivers and is unconnected with our software. This has been confirmed by Microsoft. To fix this issue we suggest you to update or remove the Logitech drivers and see if that resolve this watchdog error.

There is a response from someone on this web page [Peter Barker] who reported that he did not have any Logitech wireless mouse on his computers, so the response Karthikeyan of AVG is obviously rubbish and is a get out for AVG.  I had a call booked with AVG who reported to me that they would call me between 08:00 and 12:00 today.  It's now 12:13 and they have not had the courtesy to call me as promised.  THANKFULLY, a second system restore disk I had managed to boot up [the first didn't] and I was able to revert to a Restore Point.  If this had failed, the only option I was going to use was install a new hard drive and load that up with a system image I had.  So, I am not chuffed with AVG and am quite likely to revert to Windows Defender when my licence for AVG riuns out.

Hello Graham,
Please be informed that this watchdog error is caused due to the logitech drivers and it is also confirmed by the Microsoft team. We have consulted with them and after many teasting and analysis we have come to this conclusion.
Thank you.

Hey guys. I had the same problem with a Dell laptop, AVG Business Edition, and a Logitech mouse. I unplugged the mouse from the laptop and it booted up just fine. I then moved the wireless mouse receiver to a different USB port, which caused a driver reinstall. After that, it boots up with the mouse installed just fine.

Hello Anuroop,
Please be informed that Microsoft has confirmed that the issue is caused by outdated Logitech drivers and is unconnected with AVG software. Please try to update or reinstall the Logitech drivers and check whether you it resolves the issue.
If you are facing any further issues we request you to contact Logitech support so that they could assist you better in updating the drivers on your PC.
Thank you for your understanding.

Hi,

I had the same problem with "Starting Watch Dog Initialization" so I did what AVG support advised to do :
safe mode > use the AVG remove tool to uninstall all the AVG component. (which I did though I had lot of troubles to uninstall all component. Eventually, I had to download a free uninstall software to be sure I removed everything from AVG)
HOWEVER, to me the problem is not solve because I can't restard the computer in normal mode : it loads endlessly....
Therefore, I don't know what to do next.

I don't have a logitech mouse bluetooth or whatsoever.

Please could you help ?
Thanks

No luck with nothing plugged in but power and video.  I don't even have a logitech KB/mouse. Plus safe mode just hangs and never boots.
Is there any fix if you can't boot into windows at all?

Hello Zara,
We are sorry to know that. Please restart your computer thrice and check if you are able to boot into safe mode with networking.
Thank you

You can beat this question to death ... the only thing or the easiest way to handle is to unplug the Bluetooth source from computer until the computer is on. AVG lost points in my book with this. I have spent hours and hours installing, uninstalling, on the phone and so on and nothing has worked so as soon as my subscription is up ... I am changing to another antivirus program.

AVG stinks
