I have the exact same issue with AVG Free. I am trying to install it the last half hour with no luck.

I already had a version of AVG Free 2015 and decided to do a fresh install because I believe there were a problem when AVG tried to update itself (not the virus database but the program itself) through update.

What I tried so far :

- I used the AVG remover tool (both x86 and x64) and then tried to install with on-line installer

- I used the AVG remover tool (both x86 and x64) and then tried to install with off-line installer (64 bit)

- I tried installing in safe mode using the off-line installer (64 bit)

- I tried unistalling COMODO firewall and then install using the off-line installer (64 bit)

I have no other antivirus, antispyware or firewall software installed. Windows defender and firewall are both turned off.

Every time I get : "Error code: 0xC0070643" and "Description: Event exec_finished"


Sorry if I intrude! I hope we get a solution quickly...

I also have the same error.

I also can't uninstall the free version of AVG 2015. I tried to uninstall it directly from my pc, with the AVG remover tool and tried to update, but none of that worked.

I understand that you have downloaded the remover tool to uninstall AVG 2015 from your computer. I would request you to delete the remover file from your computer to proceed with the re installation by following the below steps:
* Open My Computer.
* Please go to C drive and type "AVG Remover" in the search tab. 
* Select the file and press "Shift+Delete" to get the file permanently deleted.
* And then, download and install AVG free using the link http://dlcom.co/1FFOOJT .

That must be annoying for you. Don't worry. We will help you to uninstall and reinstall AVG free in your computer. I request you to follow the below steps to do the installation process
* Please click on the following link and select AVG Remover to download AVG remover tool ( http://www.avg.com/tools#tba2 ).
* After running the tool, please restart your computer.  
* After restart, go to C drive and type "AVG Remover" in the search tab. Select the file and press "Shift+Delete" to get the file permanently deleted.
* And then download AVG Free 2016 using the link http://dlcom.co/1FFOOJT .

Nothing!

I tried 3 times but nothing! The last time I tried, I closed a lot of programs running in the background (from the notification area) as well as a lot of services from the task manager.

I get the exact same error.

I finally made it!

What I did is this :

1. I tried deleteting manually all AVG related keys in the registry (highly dangerous if you don't know what you are doing)

2. Then I used AVG Remover (found here http://www.avg.com/tools#tba2 ). I used the oprion "Run anyway".

3. I used AVG Reset Access (also foun here http://www.avg.com/tools#tba2 ).

After a restart I installed AVG Free with the on line tool.

 

Anyway. I just wanted to add that AVG is giving me hard times now and then. Especially the last 2 years. Every time AVG tries to update itself (the program, not the virus DB), I get problems.

First, the update does not finish. I notice that the AVG icon disappears from the notfication area and that is when I understand that AVG is trying to update itself.

Then, if I wait longer, my laptop freezes. I can't start any new program (for example Word or Firefox), the Start menu is totaly inactive and CTRL+ALT+DEL does absolutely nothing. The only solution is to hold the power button and then start my laptop again. The same happens the next time AVG tries to update itself (usually the next morning).

Anyway, I hope anyone else having the same issue will resolve it soon.

I have the same problem. I have treid installing the free download 3 times but it always fails near the end. I currently have McAfee running. Any suggestions on how to get AVG installed please?
