AVG Secure VPN - Virtual IP Addresses

I am using my AVG Secure VPN on a Windows 10 PC but, I am unable to connect to some websites, as the virtual IP address suggests that I am abroad.  The only way I can connect to these sites is to turn off the AVG Secure VPN, then connect to the website.  Once I have successfully connected to the website, I then turn the VPN back on.  This somewhat negates the reason for having an AVG Secure VPN subscription in the first place.  Under Settings, I have set “Location for this device” to off and “allow apps to access your location” is also set to off.

Can anyone help?

Hello Martin,

For your information, its something we have very little control of as its mainly up to the service provider whether they allow VPN connections or not. In some regions, VPN doesnt work due to the restrictions on the concerned website. Thank you for the understanding.

Hello Martin.
We regret the inconvenience.
By default, AVG Secure VPN will connect to optimal location which has best connection health and speed.
It could be possible that the website you are trying to load does not work in the location appearing in AVG Secure VPN.
Please try changing to another location.

Hi Avinash - thanks for getting back to me on this.  I had my Default Location as Parliament Square, London.  I changed it to Victoria Station, Manchester and this did not resolve the issue.  I then selected the Clear Location History option and set the Default Location to my hometown; this too did not resolve the issue.
The website help screen says “Our location software recognises Internet Protocol addresses (IP addresses) that are used by UK-based Internet Service Providers (ISPs). If your ISP has not registered your IP address as being situated in the UK or Isle of Man, we must assume that you are located outside this region.”  So, I am no further forward, any further help would be most appreciated.

Thank you for trying it, Martin.
It looks like the website you are loading is not allowing the VPN traffic.
Is it a banking website or a video on demand website?

The first is the Samsung Printer Driver website and another is the UK National Lottery

Thank you for confirming.
Unfortunately, certain websites has taken counter measures to block its users from accessing its content through Secure VPN servers. while we do continue to add new servers and ip addresses, they are quite fast to identify the same.
However, you can try connecting to VPN servers under 'Streaming' to check if it helps. Thank you for your understanding in advance!

Thanks for your prompt reply however, I don't understand "you can try connecting to VPN servers under 'Streaming'", can you clarify?

I apologize that my instructions were not clear.
Click 'Change location', select 'Streaming' and try connecting to locations available there.

Hi Avinash - many thanks for clarifying this.  I have followed your suggestion and selected the streaming option, on the AVG Secure VPN control panel.  I have also enabled the Clear History within Windows Settings but, the issue remains.  I guess that this is something with which I shall have to live.  Thanks for your help.

I am truly fed up with not being able to access UK streaming websites from abroad, and in fact I have the same issue as you when using UK sites when in the UK! Try NordVPN, recently tried in Spain and got all iplayer options. so that VPN does the trick. I'm locked into VG for another 18 months but am considering jumping ship TBH and lose the money I recently paid for a bunble (foolishly with hindsight).
