My AVG Internet Security ver 17.3.3011, is blocking remote desktop connections.
If I disable the firewall, RDP works.
I have enabled "Allow remote desktop connections to this computer" under the System Rules section. I can see the firewall blocking the RDP connections in the Firewall Logs even though there are no rules setup for this.
Hello Marcus, We apologize for the inconvenience. This issue will fix by changing some settings in AVG firewall. Please follow the instructions to change the Firewall settings : Open AVG Zen -> Internet Security -> Click on Menu in the top right corner -> Settings -> Components -> Firewall -> Customize -> Network Profiles -> Change the networks from Public to Private (If it is in Private, change it to Public) Thank you.

Hi Bhuvaneswari,
Thank you for the quick reply.
Changing the network from public to private fixed the issue. Thank you.
I had to same problem and changed the settings in the Firewall to Private and I can connect, however AVG seems to change this back to Public and I can no longer remotely access my desktop - it has to be re-set to private. Is there a way to ensure that when I set the network to Private it stays that way?
Hello Deb, In this case, I request you to repair AVG Internet Security (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-repair-AVG), update (open AVG Internet Security > menu > settings > update) it one more time, please change AVG Firewall network profile to private (open AVG Internet Security > menu > settings > components > firewall > customize > network profile > change all the network public to private), please go to Firewall customize settings again > scroll down > click on system rules > enable all the system rules if it's not configured, please click OK and reboot your computer once. After reboot, please check if your AVG program and remote desktop are working fine. Best regards, Alok.
I have done all the above! -all profiles are set to PRIVATE -all system rules are ENABLED - Computer is restarted
Before this I could not use google remote dekstop app on iphone or watch movies on popcorntime. after these changes in settings. I can now see movies on popcorntime without having to "disable enhanced firewall". But in order to use the google remote desktop app, I have to disable the enhanced firewall in avg, otherwise the app canonot connect to the computet.
What am I missing??? please help!!!! I am using AVG software version 19.1.3075 (build 19.1.4142.0) and windows 10.
Let's check this together. Please open AVG Internet Security icon - Click Menu - Click Settings - Click Components - Scroll down to Firewall - Click Customize. Enable the "Internet connection sharing mode" and "Allow all connections with Friends when in Private mode". If you continue to face the same issue, please contact us via live medium: https://support.avg.com/support_tech_chat We will be able to check this further. Thank you.
