Hello Jan,

We're sorry to hear this. Please delete the AVG folders manually that you see on the C:\ drive.
Run the AVG Reset Access tool again http://files-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_ResetAccess.exe
Restart the PC and install AVG Free Antivirus using this link: http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/Antivirus_Free_1817.exe
If the same error occurs, do let us know.

Hello, thanks for so far! So as you advised I used AVG-remover. After removing I've got the message to restart what I did. After restart I've got the message on the screen: avgui.exe fail; unknown exception 0x80000003 location 0x67a0ccd7 ok to stop using program. Thereafter I've got another message: AVG diagnostics following AVG process failed -AVGui.exe. Would you send the reply to AVG for diagnoostics? Yes, I did. I've stopped at this point and did not yet run ResetAccess wating for your comment. I think that AVG is not removed from the laptop. remaining: 10 directories and 106 files.

Hello Jan,
Thank you for the detailed information. It seems that the traces of AVG is still present in your computer. We suggest you to uninstall AVG using this AVG  Clear tool https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe. Please select "No" when you get a prompt to run clear tool in safe mode. Once the Clear tool completes, please check if all the traces of AVG is removed from your computer. And then initiate the installation of AVG. If you still get any error, please send us the screenshot(http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot) of the error, so that we can check the same and assist you further.
Thank you

Hello, I am getting the same problem trying to install the most recent version of AVG Free. I have completely removed all previous installs using iOrbit Uninstaller and CClean. By inturrupting the process I got this message. It appears the issue with your newest installers.

"Location is not available
C:Program Files (x86)\AVG\Framework refers to a location that is unavailable. it could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, (snicker) or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location."

I believe I have even tried you most recent 64 bit installer. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Quick question - How long shoud I expect the AVG_Clear to take? It seems to run indefinitely.

Hello Jan,
It is not definite. Usually it might take 15 to 20 minutes. It depends on the location of AVG traces distributed in your computer.

Guys, I don't mean to sound like a broken record but this program is just not installing for me, period.

For what it's worth AVG Clear ran for days with no results. I have a newly installed 2TB SSD drive so might that be somehow related??

Whenever I try to install any free edition the installer continues to time out at 73%. I'm at a loss.
Dan WentzDan Wentz
By the way the free edition on my Dell XPS 17 laptop, also with a new SDD drive but Windows 10 still works and runs flawless.

The system in question, that I'm having these issues with is a 2009 Mac Pro Intel based 8 core with boot camp and Windows 7 64, 32GB Ram.
Dan WentzDan Wentz
Ironically, on the Mac side (OS 10.6.xx) AVG free for Mac installs and runs fine.

Hello Dan,

I certainly understand that you are facing issue with AVG on 2009 MAC pro. May I know what Operating system you are using on your MAC 2009 device? Becuase AVG AntiVirus for Mac is compatible with OS X Mountain Lion or later.

Timed Out Message
Log file available if you need that too.
Dan WentzDan Wentz
Hello, my Intel processor based Mac Pro is able to run both Mac OS 10.8.5 and, on a seperate drive, Windows 7 Professional.

The Mac edition of AVG free installs and runs fine. It is on the Windows platform that I am (only recently) having problems.  I've been able to install and run AVG free edition on Windows up until fairly recently.

What basically happened was my free edition seemed to switch to full trial, and when that triial ran out, I tried to uninstall and reinstall the free edition. That is where the problems began.  I have log files if you need to see them. Again, any help is appreciated.

I would even consider buying the full version, but am not sure it would even install at this point.

Jan, thank you for providing the information. I have escalated the case to the senior technicians, they will analyze the log files and reply back to you via email soon.
Dan WentzDan Wentz
And... for what it's worth I have a system image saved from 7/31 (do this every month) but don't want to resort to that just yet. Would require a lot of work to get me back to where I am today.
Dan WentzDan Wentz
Thanks, just one more thing. I tried to do a system restore from 2 days ago and it failed saying an anti-virus program was preventing me from being able to restore. Never seen that before. It was very vague and did not identify any more details.

I can therefore conclude something from AVG is still present on my system even though it appears to be unistalled. Will wait to hear back from the techs.
Alok KumarAlok Kumar (Avast)
Yes Dan, please wait for our level 2 technician to reply you. They are working/analyzing the log files, they will contact you as soon as possible.
Best regards,
Alok.
