AVG Free saying "You are unprotected" at alll time

I have AVG Free, mostly as I have no much use in the paid feathers that come with the paid version, and as when I did pay I still got bugged on with messages about this and that, so decide to just return to free

Now as of some update at some point my AVG Free in their taskbar used to say "You are unprotected" when hovering over it, I assume as I am free, the UI says "You have basic protection"
However now it also shows the X mark on the AVG Logo and that is a little overboard for me, is that a bug on my machine or is that how the AVG Free is now?

TL:DR Is the X mark on the task bar for AVG Free by design or is it a bug on my system?
