Internet Security renewal Error 0xE0018D32 (Solved)

I renewed my subscription this morning ,at this time my AVG Internet Security was working fine on my Windows 10 64 bit systems.

After I downloaded and ran the installer on by desktop I was required to reboot my system. The system failed to reboot and windows 10 reported an error then tried to recover. After sever attempts to recover, my system started working again but AVG had gone and would not run (clicking on the AVG icon did nothing).

I tried to reinstall AVG but this resulted in Error 0xE0018D32 Event exec_finished.

I tried uninstalling the current AVG using Windows 10 Control Panel but that did nothing.

In the end I fixed it by downloading the AVG removal tool and running that. I then was able to reinstall the latest version without any problems (also without a reboot).

I assume that something got corrupted and left AVG half installed with the installed part preventing me reinstalling or removing what was on my system.

Now, fingers crossed, I need to update my laptop.

After more than 6 years using AVG protection this is the first problem I have had.

Everything seems to be working fine now.

The problem started when the system had rebooted and got to the point that it was going to complete the instalation. I am sorry I didn't make a note of the actual error but it was one of those Microsoft capital lettered codes with underscores. The gist of it was that the system was trying to access a forbiden area. Windows then stepped in and reported that it was going to atempt to recover. The system then rebooted and reported that Windows was having problems. After several more reboots my system came back but without any visible sign of AVG Internet Security.

I assume that the code inserted into my system to complete the installation got corrupted causing the problem. I think I was left with part AVG being installed but the final part being left uninstalled.

The AVG uninstall tool removed the bits of Internet Security that remained and left me with a clean AVG free system.

Since this happened AVG has updated virus definitions and I have had a Windows 10 update as well.
