JM, Did you resolve your issue with AVG Mac?.

JM BJM B
No, Your recommendation to add URL to whitelist is not working as I'm using the free Antivirus version.

I found the information below on the eID website Q&A (https://eid.belgium.be).
I don't understand what it is about but this rings perhaps a bel to you.
Could be the cause of the issue.

Could my virus scanner prevent eID authentication?
Yes, it could. Whenever you use your eID for authentication on a government website, the mutual SSL international standard is used. This creates a secure connection between your browser and the government's (FAS) authentication server.
Mutual SSL is resistant to man-in-the-middle attack. In attacks of this nature, an attacker hides between the sender and receiver of your internet traffic. This allows cyber criminals to intercept and modify data. Mutual SSL provides assurance of authentic data.
Many virus scanners offer functionality that scans secure internet connections (HTTPS traffic), and in many cases, these virus scanners use man-in-the-middle strategies to position themselves between your browser and the website. In view of the fact that SSL is resistant to man-in-the-middle, the virus scanner will detect an attack, cutting off the authentication. Virus scanners can, however, take this into account, and allow the user to specify certain URLs that are not to be scanned.
Consult a specialist who can assist you in modifying the configuration of your virus scanner to prevent problems from occurring.

Hi again Guru Alan,

Seems obvious, but the issue is with the Webshield turned on, not with MacShield.

JM,

I appreciate your efforts and patience so far.

Could you please let me know if AVG is blocking this URL https://eid.belgium.be/en or the entire application?

Please provide the screenshot of the error message to check and assist further.
JM BJM B
Hi,

This is not an easy one...
1) first go to URL https://eid.belgium.be/en
2) on Screen you need to click purple button on the right of the screen "Login with CZAM"
3) New page opens (https://iamapps.belgium.be/tma/?lang=en)
4) Click purple button "Start test"
5) Again other page (https://idp.iamfas.belgium.be/fasui/login/eidservice#)
6) Click (again) purple button "Log in"
7) Behind button their is active stuff...
8) After clicking, new screen  "Login failed" appears

Although I didn't close my Safari it seems you can see all screens without having a card reader nor eID card.
Cannot provide screenshot for the time as Mac "Grab" app is providing tiff files.

JM,

I have forwarded the case to the senior team for getting a suggestion.
They will contact you via email with the resolution.

Your patience is much appreciated.
JM BJM B
Hi,

I believe that we are narrowing towards an explanation and potential resolution.
The issue is about AVG Antivirus analyzing TLS and SSL traffic.

Full explanation to make it working on https://www.aideacces.be/128.php?langue=EN

These parameters are not reachable on the free version, so I cannot uncheck thé concerned parameter.

I have the same issue with AVG free version for Mac version 18.3. What is your advice????
Marc GodonMarc Godon
Is there any progress on this issue. I have the same issue with AVG free edition for Mac 18.2.
AvinashAvinash (Avast)
Marc, I am sorry for the delay in response.
We'd request you to add this web page https://eid.belgium.be/enon to AVG's exceptions list as suggested below.

edit file /Library/Application Support/AVGAntivirus/config/com.avg.proxy.excl
add line with exception, example *avg.com https (space between *avg.com and https needs to be done by tab. button)
After editing this file MAC needs to be restarted.

The later version of AVG for Mac will have a user friendly option of adding exceptions.
JM BJM B
Hi, I was indeed still waiting for a solution.
I modified above mentioned file. Be careful that file & folder are protected so you first need to unlock them.
Added *.belgium.be<TAB>https to the list, saved the file, restart Mac and now it's working without need to disable WebShield.
Thanks for the resolution.

You are most welcome, JM.

We appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue.

Good to hear that the file works without disable WebShield.

Next version of AVG for Mac will have a user friendly options to add exceptions. We are here if you need any further assistance.

1) I'm a beginner in mac. It seems that I cannot unlock Library/Application Support/AVGAntivirus/config/com.avg.proxy.excl. What should I do? I don't get permission to edit? Should I unlock the full tree?
2) I downloaded gain the free version of AVG for Mac but it seems that I cannot use my eID card yet. I expected that this issue was solved by now?
3) So is AVG forcing us to buy a full license if we want tu use our own eID card?

Hello, Marc.
You can refer to steps provided in the following support article https://support.apple.com/kb/ph25287?locale=en_US to set permissions for a folder on Mac. We'd also like to inform you that AVG is free for Mac devices and there is no paid version.
