AVG blocking network shared drive

The latest AVG update is blocking me from creating Folders or copying files to my XP machine.

If I uninstall AVG all works ok.

Does anyone know how to fix this.

Hello Lee,

I regret for the inconvenience caused. Please open AVG Internet Security installed on your computer, click on Menu->Settings->Components->Firewall->Customize->Policies->System Rules->Enable all the rules that are not configured. Please click on Network Profile and check if it is selected in Private. If not, change the profile to private.

After changing this firewall settings, check if you are able to use the shared drive.

I don't think that will work as I also tried AVG Free which does not have the firewall and that also blocks me from copying to or creating a new folder.
I get error: 0x8007051B This security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object.

Uninstalling AVG free clears the problem.

Thank you for the additional information.
In this case, we have to find which component of AVG is causing this issue.
Install AVG Antivirus free or AVG Internet Security again.
Open AVG Antivirus/Internet Security dashboard, click on "Menu-->Settings-->Components".
To the right, you can find all components enabled which will show a green cursor to the right.
Slide each cursor to the left for disabling and check which specific component is causing this issue.
Keep us informed about the status.

I had some trouble re-activating my license but once that was working tried the following:

Map the xp drive from to Win 7 machine, fails.
Turn the enhanced firewall off, I can now map the drive.
Try to create new folder on the mapped drive, fails with error 0x8007051b.
Turn off File shield.
Fails same as above.
Turn off Behavior Shield.
Still fails.
Turn off Email Shield.
Still fails.
Turn off Web Shield.
Still fails.
Turn Off Ransomeware Protection.
Still fails.
Turn off Fake Website Shield.
Still fails.
At this point every component is turned off and the main page of AVG Internet Security is all Red.
Still fails.
Remove my license, reverts to trial.
Still fails
Uninstall AVG from the XP machine answering questions as to why.
Restart XP machine as requested.
I can now create a new folder on the mapped XP drive.

If it's of any use, or consolation, I also tried Installing the other AntiVirus free that begins with A and it caused the same problem. Removing it returns me to normal.

Perhaps the problem is related to the Meltdown/Spectre fixes and requirements of Microsoft.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Hello Lee,

I appreciate your efforts and patience so far. I have sent you an email, please follow the email instructions to get in touch with the remote support. They will analyze the issue with AVG and fix it, free of cost.

Since the machine in question is on XP Pro and is not compatable with remote support I am unable to fix it.

In the meantime I have found that Kaspersky free does not cause the problem so will use that.

The machine is never used to surf the internet so I'm hoping I won't ger infected.

Thanks for your support,
AVG remains the AV of choice on my other PC's.
