AVG Secure search firefox Windows 10

I don't understand why my firefox start pages are removed everytime the computer boots (as opposed to starting from sleep).

Specfically, in firefox --> open menu (the three lines) -->options --> General tab  -->Home Page box
I have (and want) about 14 pages/tabs that I start firefox with, when the computer reboots all of those URL's are removed and replaced by a single AVG search page/URL.   I can't find a reason why this is done or how to stop it.

To be clear, I am not talking about the "default search Engine search function in firefox which can be found at Firefox --> open menu (the three lines) -->options --> search tab  --> default search engine box

Hello Kevin,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. If you are getting our AVG search engine for your browser then you would have installed our AVG Secure Search or AVG Web tuneup for your Firefox browser. So if you do not wish to have our add-ons then please uninstall it by following the instructions mentioned in this link: http://avgread.me/1KLkDpN .
Please feel free to contact us should you need any assistance. Thank you.

Maybe I'm using the wrong term.  It's not the AVG search engine that is at issue, it's not a question of selecting a search engine in the browser at all.

Instead, the problem is that AVG removes all of the home pages*, you know, the pages you want to open when you launch the browser, and replaces it with a single page (URL), which happens to be mysearch.avg.com

How can I tell AVG Secure Search or AVG Web tuneup  to stop removing the home pages* in firefox.  I can find no documentation on that.  Your linke in essence tells me to uninstall AVG Secure Search or AVG Web tuneup, I don't understand why that is the only option.

CONTRAST how Internet Explorer works with AVG Secure Search or AVG Web tuneup, it keeps the home pages* but adds a new tab for AVG Search, in other words I can still open my multiple home pages, but it has added one more tab, a URL to mysearch.avg.com

Again, is there any documentation on why AVG removes home pages* in Firefox and how to "set" them so that AVG stops removing them?

*Firefox calls them "homepages", the URLS that open tabs when the browser is launched.   Bing calls them start pages.Internet explore calls them home pages.  Chrome calls them Start Up Pages.

apologies for the repeated content, it's hard to edit in this box

That's okay, Kevin, please do not apologize for this. I certainly understand your concern. When you install  our AVG Secure Search or AVG web Tuneup by default you will have the AVG Search page as your startup page and it will revise your browser settings completely inorder to make you browse faster. Yes, you can manually change your homepage or startup page for your browser and after that you won't have AVG page as your startup page. Please try this and do let us know the status of it.

I put the start up pages in FireFox back to what "they should be". (I do this so often, I just cut and paste from a "note" document.)  But each and every time the computer reboots and I start FireFox, it deletes all the start up pages, and replaces them with a single page, mysearch.avg.com.   It apparently also does this if AVG Secure Search or AVG Web tuneup updates the FireFox browser (I'm not sure if each AVG Secure Search or AVG Web tuneup update requires a reboot or not, I'm somewhat certain it does not, just a restart of the browser).

If the computer "sleeps", when it "awakes" it does not reset the FireFox home pages.   If I close the browser and then restart it, it does not reset the FireFox home pages.

It seems reasonable to assume that when the computer restarts either AVG Secure Search or AVG Web tuneup is doing something to "erase" and replace the FireFox home pages.  Contrast this with IE where it does not do the same thing.  (I rarely use Bing or Chrome, so am not sure what it does)

I have not found any instuctions on how to "do things" in firefox or AVG Secure Search or AVG Web tuneup so that the combination of these programs stop resetting the FireFox home pages.

Thanks

I can understand that Kevin, when you install the AVG Secure Search or Web tuneup on your browser it will ask for a restart your browser so as to get the installation implemented. So only if you AVG Secure Search or web tuneup installed you will have the mysearch.avg.com page opened up. I request you to first uninstall the AVG Secure Search or web tuneup from your Firefox browser and then setup the pages to get on startup and check whether it appears correctly when you open Firefox after a system restart and do let us know the status of it.
