AVG free screwed up

Opened up AVG free this morning to find this is all that displays! How do I correct this?
bert forestbert forest
JPEG didn't display in my post. All that is displayed when I open AVG Free is "Your Internet Security trial has expired. Buy Now". None of the AVG free controls are available.

Bert,

Sorry for the trouble, in such case, we need to remvoe this expired version and reinstall AVG Antivirus free.

Refer this article:
http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product  to download and run clear tool to uninstall AVG Antivirus free.

After restart, download and install AVG Antivirus free offline installation file from this link: https://www.avg.com/en-us/download.prd-gsr-free . Thank you!

the article on removing AVG tells you to use the AVG Remover and Clear tools but provides NO information on how o get (download) these tools. Not very useful.

Bert,
You need to run AVG Clear tool alone. You will get the instructions to follow when you click on "Use the AVG Clear to remove the latest version of the AVG product" on the above article.

After doing a Clear in Safe Mode and installing AVG free using the link provided, when AVG free started up it displayed the following:
Don't forget to activate.
You'll be in trial mode until you activate your subscription.
I clicked don't activate, BUT it appears that once the 'trial' mode expires I could be in the very same issue that I just reported at the start of this discussion. There seems to be a bigger issue involved here.

Bert, it looks like you have used a different installer file of AVG.
Uninstall existing AVG program as mentioned (here).
Install AVG Antivirus free by following the steps as mentioned (here).
Keep us informed about the status.

The installer was the exact same installer from the first attempt at re-installing AVG free. Following the instructions and I reached the same display that said I had a trial version. I clicked the actevate button anyway and was asked to log into my AVG account. I logged in using my community.avg.com email and password and it was accepted. I was also aked for my AVG license which I ignored. I have doubts that this won't end up expiring in 30 days : (

Bert, this shouldn't happen when we use the correct installer.
Share the (screenshot) of AVG Antivirus free interface to assist further.
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

Thank you for the screenshot.
The interface says as "AVG Antivirus free" and not as trial.
May I know where it says as trial?
bert forestbert forest
After the installation completed, there was a white pop up in the right upper corner of the interface which said it was a trial version and did I want to activate now or later. If you answer that question as NO, the pop up goes away, if you answer the question by clicking activate, the pop up goes away and another screen opens asking you to log in to your AVG account, and asked for your AVG license information, etc.
Obviously, that pop up isn't there after you answer those questions and that's why you don't see it on this snapshot. I would have to clear all AVG and re-installl for a 3rd time to be able to capture the pop up that mentions trial version.

Thank you for the updating the status.
We are hearing this for first time.
Open AVG antivirus free interface, click on "My AVG" and select "My Subscriptions".
Does it say as free or trial in the subscriptions window?
bert forestbert forest
Note that is shows an expiration date and that I still need to enter license number.

Ben,

Thank you for providing the screenshot. You have installed the free version and I would suggest you to click logout and remove the email address from the Interface. Restart your PC once, if you get the activate now popup, please click Not now and check if the program says AVG Free.
Thanks.

After logging out of my account in the My Subscription area and rebooting my PC, the 'trial' pop up did not return. I was unable to delete my email address as there doe not appear to be access to do that. What shows up under the My Subscription screen is posted below.

Bert,
As you have now logged out of AVG, please reboot the computer and check if AVG reports the same expiry notice.
bert forestbert forest
The information I provided is after having rebooted my PC as stated just above the snapshot I inserted in the response of March 18th.

Thank you for the screenshot.

AVG program you have installed is completely downgraded to free version.

You will not receive the trial pop-up or expiry notification again.
