Advertising

Please tell me how to stop advertisements appearing on the AVG Internet Security user interface.

At the moment AVG/Avast are trying to sell VPN to users, most of whom do not need it if they use sensible security security measures. Just stop it will you or provide a system to disable your adverts.

Hello, Mike.
Thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns. Many of our users find these offers useful. We handpick them from our own products or those of partners we feel can add to your security or digital experience. You can disable the ad pop ups appearing in system tray but the Secure VPN pop ad on AVG Internet Security interface can not be disabled.

However, we will take this as your valuable feedback and pass it up to our developers.

I was not 'reaching out' to you as you put it. I know what I need so don't need your organisation constantly trying to sell me stuff that I can well research on my own.

You say "We handpick them from our own products or those of partners we feel can add to your security or digital experience." No. You advertise products to make money. I do everything I can do avoid unnecessary advertisements and only allow them when a site needs them to keep it afloat. You are advertising on a piece of software that I paid for and is really aggravating.

"Many of our users find these offers useful." What research has been done to back up this claim? There are plenty of users complaining online about advertising via the interface an pop-ups.

Before Avast took over there was no advertising.

Mike, I understand your concern. Please try the below steps to get rid of the popup message.

Open AVG Internet Security > Menu > Settings > Under popups > uncheck the option "show popup for other AVG products".

After doing the above step, close the AVG program and reopen it to check the status.

Hooray! That aggravating advertisement for VPN trial has gone. Thank you.
Please don't hurry to replace it with another plea for us to buy one of your products. We know where to find them all by ourselves.

This issue has NOT been resolved in the UK... I am now getting sick of AVG adverts telling me that I have many gigabytesof "junk"... and that I need to buy another AVG product to correct it...

Hello David,

We're sorry to hear that.
Please write back to us in your own/new post & attach the screenshot(s) of the pop-ups you're referring to, so that we can check & assist you further.
Thank you for understanding.
