Unfortunately that does not solve the problem as AVG Secure Search is already installed and was working until the latest AVG IS 2015 update (today). Attempted reinstall from your link simply aborts with the message stating (correctly) that the programme is already installed. Firefox has not been updated since yesterday when the toolbar was there but no longer (today 13th) shows it as a toolbar option or as an extension /addon. I seem to be the second person to report the same problem today. Is there an issue with the latest AVG update as this seems to be the only software change since it was working yesterday? More help, please!
Hello Mike, Please try to uninstall the Secure Search toolbar through the control panel and once done please try to reinstall the AVG Secure Search program. Please follow the instructions on the article http://avgread.me/1KLkDpN to uninstall the AVG Secure search from your PC. Thank you.
Sorry - but I'm stuck. If I select the AVG Secure Search in Control Panel in the usual way and select 'uninstall' it simply takes me to a web page with instructions as to how to uninstall (unsurprisingly the same instructions as per your supplied link). In Internet Explorer (Win 7) the toolbar is shown as an addon but with no 'remove' option - I can (and have) 'disable' only. In Chrome the extension is not shown. In Firefox the extension is not shown. In short, I cannot seem to uninstall the existing installation (v.19.1.0.285) and therefore, as per earlier message, I cannot reinstall. More help, please! I am wondering about the 'blunt instrument' approach of simply deleting the AVG Secure Search folder from C:\Program Files (x86) and then using CCleaner to clean up files and registry. Have you got a better idea?
