AVGUIRNA error

Dear AVG,

As many more users I was forced, against my will, to install the AVG ZEN. And then the problems start. When restarting the PC the application AVGUIRNA reports an error on the file:   api-ms-win-core-synch-l1-2-0.dll    located in   C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone

I have already re-installed Skype and I have removed AVG with the Removal Tool (which by the way leaves behind old AVG folders 2013, 2010, etc) and installed again. A window saying that the above dll was not conceived to be executed in Windows or contains an error remains.

What should I do?  I wait an urgent answer.
Best regards,
Carlos

Dear Vairavan,

Please find in attachment the requested screenshot.
Another user also reported a similar problem, against Skype 7.34. However, I'm using still version 7.33.
The translation is as follows:
AVGuirna invalid image "Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\api-ms-win-core-synch-|1-2-0.DLL is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support".

Best regards, Carlos

Hi Carlos,
We understand your concern and to assist with the issue better may I know which version of AVG are you using in your PC?
Thank you.
Carlos GonçalvesCarlos Gonçalves
Dear Sarath

AVG Antivirus Free ver 17.3.3011
User-added image

Skype is version 7.33.0105 and it was already present in the PC before the update of AVG to include ZEN. Everything worked fine before the update.

Please ask me all the necessary information at once, because otherwise we spend several days just on exchanging information without reaching any solution. The window  AVGUIRNA.exe invalid image pops up every time I restart the PC.

Best regards, Carlos

Hi Carlos,

Thank you for providing us the information. Could you please confirm once if you have tried removing AVG : http://avgread.me/1DEtNP0 and then checking the issue?

Thank you!
Carlos GonçalvesCarlos Gonçalves
Dear Akash,

Indeed, I have uninstalled AVG with the Remover Tool. The PC without AVG Free doesn´t show any error message. Then I reinstalled again AVG Free. Please see the first message in this thread where I explained everything. I'm afraid you don't have any solution. And I'm wasting my time on this.

Please let me know,
Best regards, Carlos

Hi Carlos,

We are sorry to hear that, we have sent you an email with the instructions to send us diagnostic information from your computer. Please check your mailbox once.

Thank you!

Dear Akasha,

I have received your email and have run the AVG Sys Info application. It collects a huge amount of information about the PC, great part of which might be private. The message above (capture) is very clear and relates AVGUIRNA with a dll in Skype folder. Isn't this enough? Or would it be sufficient to send just a couples of log files?  Uninstalling AVG free and leaving the AVG framework, results in no error message, and still avguirna is loaded at startup (and Skype is present).
Please let me know.
BRegards

Dear Gunaseelan,

I have uninstalled and installed AVG free countless times, using the tools you have provided and restarting the PC several times. It is very clear to me that there is a conflict between AVGUIRNA.exe and the file  api-ms-win-core-synch-l1-2-0.dll    located in   C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone.   This happens because I have WIN7 without SP1, so Skype has to install several api*.dll files which then are detected by AVGUIRNA.exe.   Could you please let me know very clearly if AVG free 2017 is only compatible with WIN7 SP1 or can also run on WIN7?   Will you launch soon an update that corrects this issue?  Without this, I can reinstall how many times I which that the problem will remain (Avguirna.exe bad image).   Please give me a concrete answer, not the possibility of remote assistance.
Best regards,
Carlos

Hello Carlos,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused. We checked your account and found that you have purchased AVG Internet Security (1 computer) which doesn't have the Zen window. We request you to run the AVG remover tool from the link: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe (NOTE: Click "No" when the tool prompted for a restart in Safe mode) if the tool doesn't run or after running the tool, run the tool from the link: http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe

Once the PC is restarted after running the tools, download and install the AVG Internet Security from the link: http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-Internet-Security-or-Premium-Security

Please follow the instructions and feel free to contact us for further help.

Thank you.

Carlos, Why are you still running windows 7 with sp1. Are you unable to update to sp2 ? You can go to the following link and download the latest update for your sp1. Make sure you pick the correct one for a 32-bit or 64-bit computer.

http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4012215/march-2017-security-monthly-quality-rollup-for-windows-7-and-2008_r2

If that still does not correct your problem, after unistalling avg again you can then try installing panda antivirus free until avg gets the bug worked out if you wish.

I have the same problem, is there any solution?

Hi Silvina,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused, could you please confirm once if you have tried all the above steps provided by the previous technicians?
Thank you!

Hi Silvina,

Could you overcome the problem of AVG free 2017 related to the AVGrna.exe Bad image related to   api-ms-win-core-synch-l1-2-0.dll    located in   C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone??
Up to now, I couldn´t. The only solution was to rename that file, so that it is not found.
But the problems with AVGfree 2017 don´t finish here:  I already mentioned that every now and then, AVG stops working showing the message "It is embarassing ..." Now I found that this issue is due to the fact that from time to time AVG does not start the service  "AVG Service" but also happened that it didn´t start the service AVGbIDSAgent. These failures are random. I have to start the services manually. I already uninstalled and installed several times AVGfree using the tools provided. What can I say about the reliability of the AVGFree 2017?!?!   Any comments and solutions about that??

Best regards, Carlos

Hello, I am also having the same EXACT problems as Carlos. I followed EVERYTHING from what you guys said with the avg cleaner and remover and every time I boot my pc the error is still THERE. PLEASE tell me how can I remove this or else I'd just uninstall AVG.

We truly regret for the inconvenience caused. We request you uninstall the Skype and reinstall it and check the error is appearing. In case if you receive the same error, we request you to provide the screenshot of the error window in order to help you further.

Thank you.

I've tried both ways:

Scenario one:
1. Uninstall Skype
2. Keep AVG Free
3. Reboot
4. Error disappeared

Scenario two:
1. Use avg_clean from link that's posted here
2. Reboot
3. Use avg_remove from link that's posted here
4. Reboot
5. Deleted avg_remove folder from C://
6. Reboot
7. And of course the error disappears.

Whenever I keep both of them the error doesn't go away. Please help, I don't want to uninstall AVG.

Oh and for the screen shot, it's the EXACT same as what Carlos posted, like literally the exact same one. Everytime I boot my pc and there it is.

Dear Mohammad,

Whenever you have got a solution for the avguirna problem mentioned above could you please share with me? A already provide the AVG team with the report generated by AVGSys info, but that was not sufficient for them to come up with a solution.

I will leave a summary of the problems I find with AVG Free 2017:
- Avguirna bad image due to  api-ms-win-core-synch-l1-2-0.dll    located in   C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone   (permanent error)
- AVG services "AVG Service" and "AVGbIDSAgent" every now and then don't start (random error). Need to be started manually.
- Google Chrome blocks (as well as all network comunications) after say 10 min of usage. Reboot of the PC is mandatory.

I have tried all sort of combinations - installing Chrome and Skype before and after AVGFree. The problems are allways the same. No need to say that I have the latest versions of the mentioned programs. No need to say that the configurations of my PC are EXACTLY the same as with AVGFree 2016.

I'm all ears!

Hi.
Dealing with the same trouble. I have spent a hour with online support - waste of time.
Simple solution - downgrade to AVG 2016 fix me problem.

Steven SSteven S
I updated AVG and got the exact same problem. Problem dissapeared when I unistalled Skype but came back again when I reinstalled skype. I even tried adding the file to all of AVG's exceptions but that didn't work. Ugh.

Has that been fixed yet?
Alok KumarAlok Kumar (Avast)
Hello Steven,
I apologize for the delay in responding to you, the issue seems that the "C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015" are corrupted. In this case, we recommend you to repair the C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 installation from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145 (please click on the link > click download > download first two .exe files and run that one by one). Please reboot your computer once and check if the issue still persist.
Best regards,
Alok.
Carlos GonçalvesCarlos Gonçalves
Dear Alok,

Nothing ever solved the Avguirna.exe bad image error, not even the C++ 2015.
But it did the update of the AVGfree program of 26th June. I was claiming for that since April, but after I spent several full days and after a couple of unsuccessfull online support sessions, AVG release the fix.

Now, let's do a competent job once for all. Which AVG programs need to be registered in the Windows firewall? I already have avgui.exe.  With the windows firewall active, Google Chrome or IE block after a while. No internet connection is possible anymore. If I used Zone Alarm then nothing ever happens. I am prety sure that some avg component currently not allowed to pass the firewall is blocking internet connection. Simply, because if turn off the Online shield of AVG, n Chrome or IE blocks.

Could you answer me this simple question? Which AVG programs the Windows firewall should allow to pass through?

Thanks in advance,
Best regards, Carlos
AvinashAvinash (Avast)
Carlos,
I would like to inform you that there is no conflict between AVG and windows firewall. Please download and install latest Windows updates on your computer and check if that resolve the issue ( https://support.avg.com/answers?id=906b0000000DnMJ ).
Carlos GonçalvesCarlos Gonçalves
Dear Avinash,

I know there is no conflit between AVG and Windows. Could please let me know which AVG components must registered in the Windows firewall to pass through?
I fear that during the several uninstalations and instalations some is missing there.

Best regards, Carlos

Hello Carlos,

I can understand your concern. Please add the AVG "Software Analyzer" component to Windows firewall and check if that fix the issue.
Carlos GonçalvesCarlos Gonçalves
Dear Karthikeyan,

Thank you. I will try latter today. Which is the executable corresponding to "software analyzer"
Doesn't it need also the component responsible for Email scaning to be there as well?
Thank you in advance, Carlos

KarthikeyanKarthikeyan (Foundever)
Hello Carlos,

The AVG Software Analyzer alone will be fine and you can find the exe file of the same from this location C:\Program files(X86)\AVG\AV\
Ask a question
Struggling with non-AVG technology? We can fix that, too!
