Is This A Scam by AVG?

Long story. Perhaps someone can give me a decent explanation to my various problems.

1) On 17 Dec, went online AVG site to purchase Ultimate product as it had an ongoing promotion. I used Google Chrome web browser.
2) At payment page, keyed in credit card details & hit pay.
3) No confirmation nor success message. It just takes me back to the front page of the ordering & asked me to start again.
4) Tried the second time & keyed in credit card details once gain. Hit pay and again not successful. It again took me back to front page of the order.
5) Something is wrong so I live chat to customer service. He has no explanation why this is happening and instead of checking records, he asked me to use a different web browser and make the purchase (this is the 3rd time).
6) Used Firefox & purchase successful because I received confirmation on the screen with a download link to download the software. Installed & at this stage, all is fine.
7) Noted the new AVG no longer requires license code to activate. It uses the user name & password (when making the purchase) to activate.
8) So I went to AVG site & logged on to my account. Looked into the My Order History and bam! Two charges of same amount billed.
9) I immediately used the Refund Request link to advise AVG that I have been double billed. Requested for one refund since it is a duplicate charge. Received email acknowledgement & case No. xxxxxx1 (for example). Took a while to compose the request.
10) As I was about to log off from AVG account, browser refreshed and bam! A 3rd charge of the same amount billed. I have been billed 3 times of which two purchases didn't go thru. So again I submitted a 2nd refund request asking for refund of this 2nd charge. Received email comfirmation & case No. xxxxxxx2 (for example).
11) A few days later, rep from refund dept sent email for case No. xxxxxx2 & said there are only 2 charges in their records. Instead of confirming refund, she tried to up-sell me extra 6 months subscription at a discounted rate but she will combine all the licenses into one so that my expiry is two years later instead of the original 1 year subscription.
12) Replied back to her & given her a screenshot of my account. Advised her there are 3 charges of which only one is valid. I asked her to refund 2 amounts out of the 3.
13) Few days later, she confirm ONE refund processed.
14) Replied to her that I requested 2 refunds because of their system error during purchase.
15) Few days later she replied I requested for ONE refund and she has done it so case closed (in a rude "don't bother me" tone).
16) Never heard from the refund department on case No. xxxxxx1. They completely ignored my request.
17) Maybe they overlooked? So I submitted a thrid refund request to chase up for the 2nd refund I needed. Case No. xxxxxx3.
18) Wow todate being completely ignored!

I felt that AVG did something to the purchase system to trick & scam me of the additional purchases I don't need. And now they refused to refund me those charges that I am entitled to.

What's worse is that the program didn't work on my windows 10 computer. I keep seeing red "The components are not active" in the AVG window. Normally there is a Fix button and when you run it, the program updates & everything turns green but there isn't. I tried removing, repairing, reinstalling & still the same error. Even the firewall won't install as I keep getting errors!

So I tried a total of 3 times live chat to AVG technician to fix this problem. They did the same (remove, repair, reinstall) & still the same old errors. Every session took more than 1 hour & if they can't fix, they send a very big log file to them to review but it takes more than an hour for the file to be sent. Overall at least 2 hours for each tech session. By the 3rd session, the senior tech is still unable to fix it. By this time, I've given up and told them since the product didn't work & is broken, I wish to cancel & receive refund for the original charge. Tech said will forward request to refund team/supervisor & get back to me but again nothing so far.

I felt completely cheated by AVG & their customer service/tech support is deplorable.

Anyone has the same experience? Was it resolved?

I personally ended my subscription yet they withdraw from my account.

" Hello Mikal
Thank you for contacting AVG.
This is in-line with our conversation earlier that you want to cancel the subscription to avoid future automatic charges on your account.

We would like to inform you that the Subscription (automatic renewal) has been cancelled for your license:
