Charles Sublette How change AVG FireWall settings on win10home Guest Account?
I need to change the application rules for AVG's firewall on my guest account.
I have Windows 10 Home edition and added a Guest Account, as directed by https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/create-restricted-guest-accounts-windows-10/
As shown in the picture below "ineedhelp1", AVG has control over my firewall.

I need to change the application rules for AVG's firewall on my guest account.
How can I do this?

How can I do this?
We have consulted with our Senior team regarding this issue and found that the steps which you performed is not a workaround, it is the exact fix.
Initially AVG blocked the settings, when you tried to give the permission to your guest account. This is because the account was created in the "local group guests", instead of "local group User".
However, when you changed the account back to "Local group User" the permission was granted again.
So, we can assure you that the issue has been fixed.

Below pictures discribes what I see when trying to, as an Adminstrator, to change the permissions for the AVG folder and AVGUI program so that my visitor/guest account can make changes. AVG did not allow Windows 10 Home to execute these instructions.

All other pictures are as me being Administrator.
We would like to clariy that this is the normal behavior. It isn't possible to change the application rules in AVG using your guest account. Due to administrative privileges, certain actions on AVG program requires admin permission. However, the firewall is active on your guest account.

There are firewall settings for "guest or public networks", except I do not have access to them, as shown in picture "ineedhelp1", due to "these settings are being managed by vendor application AVG Internet Security." This means Windows 10 does not have control of these settings.
As an Administrator, shown in my pictures above, I am denied permission to change the security permissions on AVG.
Only solution now seems to force my visitor account to become an administrator, so I can change AVG's application rules for the visitor account. Then, revert my visitor account to a restricted guest account. Hope this will work. If allowed, I will post the result and pictures of how this progresses.
There should be an easier way for Administrator's to change AVG's firewall application rules for guest accounts.
It is also usual behavior that Windows protection and firewall are replaced by AVG when it is installed.
As shown in the screenshot, is the user account 'Charles' the only administrator account? Are you being denied permission to change the security permissions on AVG in the administrator account?
In which user account did you install AVG initially?
You can also go ahead and try the workaround you proposed and let us know the results.
As shown in the 3 screenshots above, I am being denied permission to change the security permissions on the AVG in the administrator account.
Avinash, at that time, 'Charles' is the only administrator, but I just recently added a new administrator account for troubleshooting purposes and the results are the same.
Screenshot "ineedhelp2" is the only one taken while I was on the visitor/guest account. All other screenshots taken while I was on the administrator account.
I do wish instructions on how to resolve this would be shared here.
I'd request to disable AVG Self-Defense and try to change the application rules.
Open AVG, click Menu -> Settings -> General -> Troubleshooting.
Then untick 'Enable Self-Defense'.
I am good at following instructions. So please include more of what I need to do to try to resolve this.

Sounds great! Yeah, my Adminstrator account giving guest permission to change AVG firewalll application rules or is there a file that me (as Administrator) can change like a "guest firewall application rules" file for AVG to help my guest account.
Please take note, in pictures above, I (as administrator) tried to change the security permisions on AVG files/programs/folders without any success.

I think I figured out my problem.
I think the problem resides with hoow I created my Visitor "guest" account since this account is not within the "localgroup users", rather it is within "localcgroup guests".
So, hopefully without losing account data, I have to move my Visitor "guest" from "localgroup guests" to within the "localgroup users".
Did a little testing, so far so good, but not sure definite yet. Going to do some more testing on this, but I am too tired. I will give update tomorrow.

This fixed my problem, but this feels more like a workaround rather than a fix.
I wish there was a AVG Administrator that allowed me (as administrator) have different AVG firewall application rules for different user accounts.
