I keep getting notification from my AVG antivirus that Malware-gen[Trj] has been detected. When I go into my AVG dashboard I can see the threat but AVG seems to be unable to resolve the threat. What do I do?
We're glad to look into this & help you. For better clarity, share us the screenshot of the notification that you receive after clicking on 'See details' option that is available in it. Also, let us know at what instances do you receive the notification.
Thank you for the screenshot, Carole. This could be a false detection too. However, it is recommended to perform an advanced scan and if no virus found, we shall reset Chrome browser and check the status. I have sent an email with instruction which will help you to get connected with our additonal support. Please connect with them in order to get further assistance.
Good evening. I have the same problem (the same screenshots and the same context: Google Chrome) and it's really harassing. I have completed a full analysis via Avg and also a system restoration of my computer. I could also do a scan Avg at the rebooting, but I did one two weeks ago. So do you have a concrete solution to the problem finally?

I have also the same problem of melding a virus Malware-gen, see under. This happens always when I open a new window in Chrome. I do not find any information on the web nor in AVG site. What do I do? Thanks for helping me, Bert.

Thanks for posting your query in community forum.
As the detected file path is Chrome, I request you to reset Google Chrome browser and check if you receive the same pop-up.
For the steps to reset, refer the link: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/3296214
I did reset Google Chrome and now everything is okay.
Thanks, Albert
