AVG Secure VPN download speed

I use AVG Secure VPN on my laptop, tablet and mobile telephone.
If I temporarily disconnect the VPN Ion any device I achieve download speeds >55 Mbps
When the VPN is active I achieve speeds < 22Mbps.
I accept that the use of the VPN will probably reduce the download speed but a reduction of 50% is surely not to be expected.
Any suggestions for remedies gratefully received

Thank you for the screenshot, Brian.

Using AVG Secure VPN, you may sometimes experience a slower internet connection. This is because VPN encrypts traffic and data before sending it to a server. This process may cause slower, but safer internet connection. This is the usual behavior.

From the screenshots, we haven't found a major difference in the internet Speed (28.20 Mbps and 22.66 Mbps).

Could you turn OFF AVG Secure VPN and test your net speed once? Attach the screenshot here to assist further.

Hi Brian,

We're glad that you're aware of the speed reduction while using VPN. However, you may sometimes experience a slower internet connection when using Secure VPN. This is because VPN encrypts traffic and data before sending it to a server. Depending on the distance and capacity of the server, this process may cause a slightly slower, but safer, internet connection.
In this regard, you can try connecting to different locations (server) in Secure VPN, to identify the server that provides better connectivity. Usually, the optimal location would provide better connectivity.
Thank you for your understanding in advance!

A slower speed is not thwe problem  -  the reduction by 50% is. I have tried all ther serverds in Europe to no avail  -  all show a simiolar reduction btween active and non-active VPN

We're sorry to know that, Brian. In this regard, would you be so kind to share us the screenshots (http://https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=AVG-Create-screenshot) of network speed with VPN enabled & disabled?
To test network speed, use this link (http://www.speedtest.net).

As this seems to be investigated by our next level of support, we've requested you for the screenshots, Brian. However, this is the usual behavior of Secure VPN.

Brian, thank you for your patience.

We'd a check with our senior team and confirmed this is the normal behavior.

Could you please let me know whether you are using Wired or Wireless internet connection?

If you are using Wireless medium, please try connecting LAN cable and verify the speed.
