This error is strictly due to the free edition of AVG not being compatible with the latest version of Windows 10, as was told to me by AVG support staff.  This is in contradiction to their statement of their website that says "AVG products work with Windows 10.  Upgrading to Windows 10? We've got you covered."
Get this, as a solution they tried to sell me AVG Ultimate ($89.99) for a year.  They said Ultimate was compatible with Wiindows 10.  This appears to be, in my opinion, a bait and swiotch method to get users to purchase their product by making their free edition useless for Windows 10 users.  If ultimate is compatible so can te free edition be made to work.  Find another free product to use

Hi Hariharkumar,
It's not the first time I've installed AVG. I had some issues with my laptop, so had to put my memory a few days back. I assume this gave some problems with the update of my AVG. I've tried the remover, the reset e.g. in "safe mode" but did not help. The OS on my laptop is Windows 10.

When I run the AVG Remover (even if I Run As Administrator), it says that "AVG Remover did not find any active AVG product within your system", and it gives me the option to "Run Anyway", which I do (and have done several times over the last week or so). No matter what, AVG Remover stops working after about 2 minutes (error message: "AVG Remover Utility has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working..."). My only option is to click Close program. It then tells me that AVG Remover needs to restart the computer, which I do. I have done this many times.
Following your instructions, I then delete the folder C:\AVG Remover.
Next I download the 64-bit installer from your link above (this is a 64-bit Windows system).
When I run the installer (either as Administrator or the regular way), it gets to almost complete and then I get the "Installation failed" error with the code 0xC0070643.
I have no other antivirus installed.
I have manually cleared out the Registry for all "AVG" entries.
This is the same error I have received at least a dozen times.

I've come home today and turned on my computer to be faced with AVG telling me it can't find my licence key - for the free edition of AVG which has been installed on the machine for two weeks, which is also the age of the Windows 8 x64 install it's on (which by extension is on a partitioned PCIE NVME SSD). The suggested route to fix it was to re-install - but the uninstall wouldn't even finish, returning the "0xC0070643 Description: Event exec finished" error. I've now removed AVG multiple times using your tools (which don't remove AVG Zen, had to do that manually), but every time I try to reinstall the error above is returned again. Please send me the fix document for this ASAP.

Thanks for the canned response Gulam - this process worked, though I checked and found the AVG folder in Program Files (x86) was still there after running the tool so I deleted it as well before proceeding with the reinstall, just in case; might be worth adding to it. Having issues trying to install AVG after it wouldn't work because of a missing MSVCR110.dll file. I've fixed that issue, but now AVG Zen won't install, which is pretty annoying since I'm paying for this...

I've got the same error code (0xC0070643) and Description: Event exec_finished.

I've removed AVG with the Remover Tool. Didn't fix the issue when I tried reinstalling.
I've run the AVG BEF fix, with no resolution to the issue either.
I'm running the SYSinfo tool now to try and identify the issue.

Could you email me for support details, because I really would like to seethe end of this issue on my PC.
Thanks, James.

I am also getting error code OxC0070643. I tried to re-install several times to no avail.

Wow, there is no solution.  I have the same problems as mentioned above.  My details are I have AVG Protection 2015 (whatever).  I have a 2 computers I am trying to add with no luck.  One is a laptop with Windows 8.1 and the other lapton with Windows 8.  I have done some of the same things as mentioned above with no luck.  I did call the support number 1-844-234-6038 with no luck.  Infact I felt like it was a trap.  The guy told me it was a virus and proceeded to do a (free) checkout of my computer showed me he found something in my registry.  Then said something about $199 to clean it off and extend my lic another year or something.  That got my attention real quick.  I was under the false impression they would help me install it for free etc.  Then he lowered it to $79 or $89 I don't remember.  I was hot!  I told him to stop what he was doing and do not bill my credit card.  I don't believe I they have it.  My tried on both computers and failed.  One computer might have had a virus but the other one new just out of the box!  I scanned the other one with Windows Defender to see if it found this virus but it did not.  Watchout!  This may be a money racket.  I do not want to use another product but I may be forced to.

I recommend everyone read Ray Howard's comment a little above mine. I pretty much had the same exact phone call he did. They "diagnosed" my problem with remote assistance, stated that I had a virus, then offered a technician to fix it for $199. After complaining about not wanting to pay, they lowered it to $79 while trying to offer another deal for AVG Pro or something. I was also under the false impression they would help me install it for free. They made it seem like the virus came because I "had two antivirus running at same time." I call BS, because I've always had Malwarebytes Free (installed) with AVG Free running live protection, and never had any problems like this when trying to uninstall/reinstall AVG. I definately smell some sort of scam or money racket, and I'm starting to suspect that AVG actually purposely created this problem. Now let's just see how long it takes for them to delete this comment. ;)
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Hello Eric,

I recently upgraded my license to add a 4th system, as we now have a new Windows 10 Pro (64 bit) laptop.  Unfortunately the machine comes with McAfee security software installed, so attempting to install AVG fails (with error code C0070643).

The recommend procedure at this point is to remove the McAfee product, and then install AVG.  But this means the system would be connected to the internet and running without a firewall or anti-virus product while I was in the process of downloading the AVG software, which is not something I really want to do.

What I would like to do is download a stand-alone install package, then disconnect the machine from the internet while I remove the McAfee product and install AVG.
How do I go about downloading everything I need to perform the installation?  The "Download the product" link just downloads a 2.8MB executable, not the actual software.

Hi everyone. I am installing the AVG Business Edition version. I didn't get far, but I used 7zip to extract the AVG .exe file and then double click on the setup file. I got to the part where it says to restart you PC to continue. Before your installation can continue, you need to restart your computer.
