Best thing is for AVG to sort out the problem. There has in the past been times that AVG has not found the problem and Malwarebytes has and vis-versa. Why change things now? To upset customers or force them away to another Antivirus that can run as AVG used to be able to with Malwarebytes. This move of yours is a good way to lose customers!
AVG has Quarantined a file that a program needs to open. When i try to restore MENU>QUARANTINE i press on the quarantine in the drop down but nothing happens - it doesn't do anything or go to the files so I can restore
Hi, I use the paid version of AVG. My AVG automatically upgraded to AVG 2017 last week and since then it is blocking all access to to the internet - including access to the AVG website. Inorder to access the internet I have to disable AVG.
This is totally unacceptable - why am I paying for something that I cannot use.
I also cannot acces online help. There is no longer a chat session availble.
Please!! can someone help? If not I will have to look at other antivirus installations. I have been using AVG (paid) for some time. So this is all very distressing.

Browsing the Community pages I am discovering that many others are as frustrated as I am at the latest release of AVG. With no warning, it was installed, and there are no instructions for how to use it. It is not user friendly at all to schedule scans. Even if I do a scan, it keeps saying Last Scan: Never. That does not give me any confidence. I hope AVG fixes it, as I am a paying customer. But I will definitely not renew my subscription when it comes time for that, the way the software is now.
I'm very much with you Madeline Foster. My patience and that of my wife is fast running out. This arrogant company and their "AVG Technologies" personnel are treating theit customers with total disdain. The answer to your question is probably not true as I have two computers, which I rarely use other than for storage, which are both still running AVG Internet Security 2016 on my 2 year subscription. Their virus definitions are being updated correctly. I suspect it's the Avast management trying to be clever. The update was obviously not ready for release. Best of luck to all of us..... Mike and Dottie.
I keep getting these AVG f$^&*( pop ups appearing on my desk top. The latest in is one which says get your PC ready for the holidays. Does any one have any advice on how to stop these things appearing? I was in the middle of a time assessment when one popped up, and have mnore to do, so am not feeling very grateful about its intrusion into my private space and time at the min AVG.
A routine scan reported 2 threats found on my HTC 10. SmartSearch and SmithLite have been classified as Malware but are system apps and can't be deleted. I could not find any information on these as threats and no other security software found anything wrong. But I reset to factory settings to be safe. Unfortunately a scan after the reset still marks those as Malware. This leads me to believe the scan is marking them as a false positive but would like to confirm. Thank you.

Hello, After the last update, the virtual machines (VMWare Player) specific cannot connect to internet. In the last versions, there was an option to allow traffic for specifi applications but setting the route which was removed (I don't know why the bad idea of removing it as if their target market was IT pros). There was also an even more convenient option reading "Allow any traffic from/to virtual machines supported by Firewall" that was also removed.
I tried to enable the option for AVG to ask wether to allow the traffic, but it seems to work with applications installed in the local computer, but it never asks for Vmware itself, less for the software installed in the virtual machine.
Loosing those features is a step backwards in user convenience.
How can I allow the Firewall to pass virtual machine traffic? Are the above mentioned features something AVG is planning to add back or should the users that prefer this commodity start looking for other protection options?
I am currently on AVG: Version: 17.3.3011 (build 17.3.3443.0) Released: 2017/03/30 04:54:28
Playing around with the settings, I realized that checking the option "Internet Connection Sharing" (I don't know the exact translation as I have it in Spanish) under "Firewall -> Policies -> Preferences" fixes the issues. I am not sure if is the best method, but it does the job.
